For any Wiki- or IRC-related thingies that require my attention, leave a message here and I'll hopefully get back to you in the same day or before the end of the next one, depending on my vacation status. If it's something urgent, then just finding me or another staff member on IRC would be best.

Please contact me

I tried it again, I made an edit on the glitch page for something I found. After multiple attempts to make it (but you deleting it) and even being accidently blocked for another person's crimes, I did it again. I have a picture of it, I CAN prove it exists. I don't know how it is caused but it is real, and very interesting in my opinion. So please, reach out to my steam account. I want to help here, but this is the only thing I have right now, don't let it go to waste, that kind of hurts Leon8359 (talk) 05:58, 5 March 2015 (PST)

Just wanted to thank you for cleaning out the marked for deletion category

And also add that the reason it's helpful to delete files (rather than let them sit unused) is it makes the "unused files" list more of a "where should this go" rather than "do we need this". Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 13:01, 23 March 2015 (PDT)

About Trending topics

Hi, I think it would be better: click. End of the Line video link we can change to any other new item (e.g. {{item link|Pool Party}}). Thank. RADISTKillicon conscientious objector.png 02:24, 28 March 2015 (PDT)

Hey, Question

Um......how much do one need to do for a wiki cap? Not cape, i know i cant get one. Mr.Balbaloo (talk) 13:38, 29 March 2015 (PDT)

There's no "minimum requirements" to get a Wiki Cap, it's not an automatic process. Please see this page and read it and the nominations page to understand how to get one. --User LordKelvin Signature.png LordKelvin 13:42, 29 March 2015 (PDT)

Oh,sorry for waisting your time with my stupidity :( :/ --Mr.Balbaloo (talk) 07:11, 1 April 2015 (PDT)

Restoring User Page

I don't know if moderators have any privileges for restore deleted pages, if is possible, check this page and restore it. Maybe this can help. Thanks. Dio Joestar | Talk 09:54, 11 April 2015 (PDT)

Thanks again! Dio Joestar | Talk 11:52, 11 April 2015 (PDT)

Deleted my page because it's "unnecessary"?

What qualifies as unnecessary? I didn't expect an extremely popular phenomenon within the game to be unnecessary.

SpackTheCanadianSpock (talk) 19:27, 11 April 2015 (PDT)

This wiki is not for keeping track of popular community fads, and we don't need individual articles for each individual fad that may not even be notable. The primary purpose of the wiki is to document the game series, and as such we do follow a certain standard of quality. --User LordKelvin Signature.png LordKelvin 19:31, 11 April 2015 (PDT)

Then I seriously doubt your sanity, because players may not know what these "community fads" are, and if they aren't on the OFFICIAL WIKI, they may not think the sources are credible. SpackTheCanadianSpock (talk) 19:33, 11 April 2015 (PDT)

Little question about the log.

Hi! When I log in, I can see a little Soldier icon, next to my pseudo. Is this because of something ? What does it mean ? Killicon flaming huntsman.png S. 08:47, 10 May 2015 (PDT)

I'm pretty sure that it's only there as part of the customized layout/skin that the Wiki uses. Normally there would be a person icon there anyways, but it's been stylized to be a Soldier in the case of this Wiki. --User LordKelvin Signature.png LordKelvin 10:41, 12 May 2015 (PDT)

MasterCard menace

Thanks for blocking him for a while. At least we can have some rest of those pesky 'translations' Maybe he will calm down and at least read all the stuff we gave to him for a little longer. But what should we do if he won't stop even after this? ~ Sealed 11:27, 12 May 2015 (PDT)

If he persists, I'll extend the length of the block, and if he continues then I'll eventually make it permanent. --User LordKelvin Signature.png LordKelvin 11:29, 12 May 2015 (PDT)

Assistance with templates

Howdy LordKelvin. I'm working on updating the crate pages with the new skin cases, but I feel that I should create a modded version of the current crate table for the skin cases with disclaimers. You know anything about making table, and know where I can find the original code for the crate table. Appreciate the help. --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 18:14, 8 July 2015 (PDT)

The template for creating crate tables is located here. Not sure if dictionary entries for all the skins have been added yet, or for that matter the backpack images, but just read the documentation and you should be fine. --User LordKelvin Signature.png LordKelvin 18:26, 8 July 2015 (PDT)

Front Page Updating

As we know, the front page desperately needs updating. The Featured Article is over six months old, the DYKs needs some updating, and probably some extra stuff that we're missing. I probably don't have the privileges, but I'd love to help anyway I can to fixing this. --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 18:32, 19 July 2015 (PDT)

I don't like your edit

Hi, I don't like your edit discriminating against new hats at Finder's Fee. It rivals/rivalled that of Wiki Cap. Although I am no expert at writing a perfect article in under ten seconds, it serves as a good placeholder for the article to come. We don't create placeholder articles that are of poor/questionable quality. If you want to start an article from scratch, do it properly rather than putting stuff like "dank memes" or whatever on it. --User LordKelvin Signature.png LordKelvin 18:48, 18 August 2015 (PDT)
I don't like this policy. When is the next electoral campaign? --— Cronos Dagetalkcontribs • my code mods 18:52, 18 August 2015 (PDT)
I should also point out that your creation of those templates for the list of Finders Fee owners used the wrong format. You copied over a template for listing Wiki Cap owners, which you shouldn't do since Finder's Fee owners do not necessarily have accounts on the wiki. --User LordKelvin Signature.png LordKelvin 19:02, 18 August 2015 (PDT)
It's a sandbox-free work-in-progress. --— Cronos Dagetalkcontribs • my code mods 20:56, 18 August 2015 (PDT)
"Sandbox-Free" does not mean that you can do whatever you pleased. Freedom is always a concept that you can do things freely UNDER several norms and rules, and it's rather clear that you failed to recongnize that. You shouldn't just post an inappropriate, broken or not-following-forms contents on the new pages and claim that deleting them is a discrimination. If you do really think that is a work-in-progress and it will be better or follow the typical forms, edit it first in your own user space or using the preview button to polish them will be a better choice, at least it will be better than just saying "I don't like your edits". ~www~ 21:17, 18 August 2015 (PDT)

Suggestions on Slender Fortress.

I just copied and pasted the old code into my sandbox and I'm working on cleaning up this mess of an article. Do you have any recommendations for it? --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 14:23, 26 August 2015 (PDT)

There were numerous problems with the page. You can look at its associated talk page to see what all the problems were. --User LordKelvin Signature.png LordKelvin 14:31, 26 August 2015 (PDT)
Okay, I just made numerous changes to the page. I redacted a lot of the information (Mainly about the bosses) as it was unnecessary and make the boss section just about the types instead. I found links to an official Steam Group, and a wiki for the mod. At this point I'm cleaning up the page. How does it look? Does it need anything else? --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 20:06, 27 August 2015 (PDT)

Question about your User page

So, I'm a fairly new user here (at least, new to editing the wiki regularly, I've been around before to add tiny tidbits) and I was wondering about how I can get those achievement and userboxes. I haven't encountered such a thing before, and I was curious about how I can get those for my own user page. Texenox (talk) 10:53, 9 October 2015 (PDT)

Quick question

I don't know if you're the right guy to ask this, but I wanted to created a wiki project for community map strategies for the newer map pages are lacking those. --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 19:35, 1 November 2015 (PST)

Project questions

So the project page is going great and we're getting to work, but I wanted to get some insight on some stuff.

The first being I feel is a set of guidelines when it comes to strategy articles as the style guide is very vague on that topic.

The other being a better way to post what needs to get done.

And a way to advertise the project.

You're probably not the right guy to ask this, but you've been pretty insightful and helped me in a lot of complicated situations.

Thanks again. --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 00:06, 7 November 2015 (PST)

You can try advertising it on the main discussion page, and get some people to help you with the project. You can also link to it from the tasks page, and just generally recommend it as a place for new users to start whenever they come by IRC.
As for guidelines, that's more or less up in the air. Just generally try to make sure that the pages are readable and accessible to new players. Community pages follow a different set of rules than actual articles, and part of that comes from them being, in effect, a "dump" area for stuff to go. They can be more informal, but in general just try to make each page uniform and consistent (make sections that helps new editors to know where they should put their advice, try to conform conflicting bits of advice to make it look like one person wrote the whole page rather than a bunch of people talking at once, etc.).
Mainly, just keep in mind that the community strategy section is not as strict as actual articles, and it's up to the community to make it helpful. So you have a lot of room to decide how you think it would best work, and as long as the quality of the pages is improved then that's all that really matters. --User LordKelvin Signature.png LordKelvin 15:57, 7 November 2015 (PST)
Okay. I also got reports that basic strategy pages need updating as well. What's the deal with basic strategy pages? Do they count as 'up in the air?'
Also, you mentioned responsibilities I'd have to take with being in charge of this project. What kind are you talking about? --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 17:02, 7 November 2015 (PST)
The basic strategy pages are more or less maintained by InShane. If you see things that are out of date, then go ahead and fix them, but otherwise you can leave the pages to him.
With regards to responsibility, just keep in mind that big changes you make to pages can be seen by lots of people, particularly since this is the Official Wiki, so it never hurts to take the time to think twice before committing to important actions. And when you're in charge of big projects like this, then people will come to you with their own questions (sort of like what you're doing with me), so you'll have to be prepared to answer those questions. Nothing can really solve that except to become more experienced at wiki editing, so for the time being just try your best at improving the wiki. --User LordKelvin Signature.png LordKelvin 17:08, 7 November 2015 (PST)

Strategy style guide page

I made a Rough draft of the style guide page for strategy pages and wanted to run it by you. As I've never made one of these before I started with the basics. --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 12:49, 17 November 2015 (PST)

Bump to make sure you're still alive. --User Dr. Scaphandre Golden Ghastly Gibus.png Dr. Scaphandre 11:36, 2 December 2015 (PST)

Yeah, sorry about the delay, I've been caught up with a few things including holiday crap. I just went over your rough draft and revised some stuff. It should be good to go now. --User LordKelvin Signature.png LordKelvin 11:49, 2 December 2015 (PST)
Okay I'll upload it now. Thanks for the help.
By the way, Tark and I have been talking and we were wondering if we should do a page on the Mercs vs Aliens TF2Maps contest? --User Dr. Scaphandre Golden Ghastly Gibus.png Dr. Scaphandre 11:52, 2 December 2015 (PST)
If any of its maps have become popular enough to be added to unofficial server rotations or show up in the unofficial maps list here, then sure. I don't personally know which maps were featured in that contest though, so do check to make sure that it's notable enough, and if you think it is then go ahead and add it to the community events nav. --User LordKelvin Signature.png LordKelvin 11:57, 2 December 2015 (PST)
Mercs vs Aliens was the contest where the maps ended up on the Invasion update. The winner was Probed, with the second place being Watergate, and third being Byre. Is that notable enough? --User Dr. Scaphandre Golden Ghastly Gibus.png Dr. Scaphandre 12:00, 2 December 2015 (PST)
Yeah, that's definitely notable. Go ahead and do the page. --User LordKelvin Signature.png LordKelvin 12:01, 2 December 2015 (PST)

April Fools 2016

Tark has come to me saying that he wants to really bring back the April Fools pages this year. When he pitched the idea, I came up with the perfect idea for a page: the Golden Ghastly Gibus. The page would be about a parody of the Golden Pan in Gibus form, on,y instead of turning your enemies to gold when you kill them, it turns you into gold when you die. It's a page that is easy to tell that it's an April Fools joke, and comepletely harmless. What do you think? --User Dr. Scaphandre Golden Ghastly Gibus.png Dr. Scaphandre 12:28, 3 January 2016 (PST)

It couldn't hurt. One thing might not be enough though, see if you can come up with a few more ideas, we can probably work something out since there's plenty of time before April Fool's. It looks like Tanner's trying stuff out with a Vagineer page, maybe see if you can help him with that? --User LordKelvin Signature.png LordKelvin 12:32, 3 January 2016 (PST)
Sure. I'll contact the kid once Tark and I get the project page up. --User Dr. Scaphandre Golden Ghastly Gibus.png Dr. Scaphandre 12:40, 3 January 2016 (PST)

April Fools 2016: An Addendum

Hey boss, I'm here with the page ideas for approval. Since we couldn't decide on an actual theme I think we'll just do a random April Fools like 2011. Here are the ideas I feel make the cut:

  • Golden Ghastly Gibus
  • Vagineer page
  • Low Calorie Sandvich (It can just be a copy of the Sandvich page, but talking like a person on a diet.

That's pretty much all I got so far. As I'm busy at the moment I'd do more, but I think this year it would be wise to take it slow. The rest of the ideas Tark was thinking of putting in a mock update page instead. --User Dr. Scaphandre Golden Ghastly Gibus.png Dr. Scaphandre 09:14, 3 March 2016 (PST)

Those look good to me. Go ahead and get the pages ready, and I'll do the moves and trending topics changes when the time comes. --User LordKelvin Signature.png LordKelvin 11:39, 12 March 2016 (PST)

Competitive Matchmaking Beta Pass

I can't edit in the page at all for you bot thinks I'm still a spammer. How could you? :c --User Dr. Scaphandre Golden Ghastly Gibus.png Dr. Scaphandre 20:16, 17 March 2016 (PDT)

Here's the April Fools

Here's the April Fools update page. This is all we can do this year due to the lack of contributors. --User Dr. Scaphandre Golden Ghastly Gibus.png Dr. Scaphandre 12:11, 30 March 2016 (PDT)

That looks pretty damn threadbare. If that's going to be the only thing you're going to do for April Fool's, then it's probably better to just do nothing at all. Plus, there's the problem with there possibly being an actual patch on the 1st, and putting that in the patch notes namespace is just going to end up being confusing (the original purpose was to make individual update/item pages to place in Trending Topics). --User LordKelvin Signature.png LordKelvin 19:34, 30 March 2016 (PDT)
Well we were gonna do more, but then the server crash happened, and everyone who was helping disappeared. If we're gonna cancel, then oh well. --User Dr. Scaphandre Golden Ghastly Gibus.png Dr. Scaphandre 08:40, 31 March 2016 (PDT)
Maybe next year. — The preceding assigned comment was added by Tark {Finish Him!Contribs} 12:23, 31 March 2016 (PDT)

Big Earner trivia

Hello, yes. Sorry for any confusion about my addition to the Big Earner Page. Im new to the wiki, but not to tf, about 4 yrs playtime. I added this "The Big Earner and it's speed boost is a reference to the 1970's movie "Dirty Harry", in which Dirty Harry stabs a Sniper in the leg in pursuit of a suffocating girl." to the Big Earner trivia, and an asian mod removed it, without knowing what it was, as he is asian, and most likely never heard of clint eastwood. After doing lots of research on the movie's clint was in, I found that in Dirty Harry, the knife he used looked oddly similar to the tf2 counterpart. Anyway, if you decide to take it down, whatever, but just to let you know, it IS true. thanks for your time MichaelMann (talk) 19:19, 13 June 2016 (PDT)

Your trivia addition is not based on fact. Please read the trivia guidelines, we do not accept guesses/conjecture in the trivia section. Furthermore, you reverted the removal despite Wiki policy that such removals should be discussed instead of re-added. In the future, please make sure to read the Wiki guidelines first, to ensure that your edits conform to our standards so that they don't get reverted. --User LordKelvin Signature.png LordKelvin 19:24, 13 June 2016 (PDT)

Sorry if the last part was confusing, and thanks for responding quickly. Im learning. If you want to know the premise of the movie, its about a wanted man in san fran who is on a killing spree with his sniper rifle. The part mentioned on the trivia I added, Clint, who's nickname in the movie, was Dirty Harry, was "dragged" around the city to make sure he wasn't followed by police (He's a detective). He had to deliver 200,000$ at the killers commands, or else a girl suffocates. AT the handoff, the killer wacks clint in the back of the head with the rifle stock, and tells him that he is going to kill the girl anyway, until clint's partner intervenes, which gives clint a chance to withdraw from his sock a knife that is the spitting image of the big earner. Clint then stabs the killer in the back of his thigh, causing the killer to receive a limp, which is where the speed buff reference comes in. The killer then escapes due to clint's wack in the head, and the movie continues. Hope this clears things up MichaelMann (talk) 19:35, 13 June 2016 (PDT)

It's still coincidence. There is no proof that Valve balanced the weapon based on the movie, and the weapon's attributes were modified to their current values over four years after it was originally added to the game anyways. Had Hinaomi not reverted the trivia, someone else would have. --User LordKelvin Signature.png LordKelvin 19:54, 13 June 2016 (PDT)
