You've uploaded over 100 (high-quality) images so far, keep up the good work.

Yes, that's a copy and paste from the Wikiachievement I gave to Tekinz. The quality of images from both of you are nearly the same.

Tekinz (talkcontribs)

Hey, I noticed you're a pretty active image uploader. I'm also active in image uploading and we might end up working on the same projects. Do you have any medium of communication we could speak in to let each other know of our work? The wiki has an IRC which we could talk in, or if you prefer another way of communication please let me know.

Also, heres the pastebin Gabrielwoj was talking about in a previous topic; https: // pastebin(dot)com/L3v8rbGi

You're doing good some fine work keep it up.

Sorry for being away for so long. I had to focus a lot on my studies because I had missed out on a lot of things after being ill for a while. Sadly, education in my country has come to an almost complete halt starting today and at least for the next few days due to the virus, so now I have a lot more free time again.

I'll check out the pastebin during the weekend and hopefully get some things done soon after. About the communication, I would rather communicate through Discord or even Steam chat since I still haven't wrapped my head around how the IRC works, but I can do my best to learn how to use it better if that's more comfortable for everyone else.

Thanks for letting me know that I'm doing well. Again, I'll sort what's left to sort out and understand what my uni's plan of remote education is and then I'll start contributing images again.

Tekinz (talkcontribs)

The time gap between messages is completely fine and I understand prioritizing whats more important with your life. Sorry to hear about the unfortunate halt with your education as well. That virus has been giving a lot of people a rough time recently and hopefully you're during well during this time.

The IRC isn't a requirement, but it is useful for discussing edits as they are shown in the IRC in real time as they are posted. If you want, you can add me on my Steam profile and I can run you through how to get the whole thing started and answer any questions you might have about it. My Steam account is in my user page, just add a comment on my profile before adding me because I might ignore the request. We can also use Steam for direct contact to discuss projects if you want since I myself don't really talk much in the IRC.

If you want more images to improve, ask me.

I'll be doing a list myself for other images that need improvement but aren't on the "Category:Images that need improving" page. I was the person who originally started doing this project (of adding images to improvement), but there's so many that I decided to stop, so I wouldn't spam too much.
I'll be putting on a Pastebin, so I can update the list every time without having to generate a link URL.

Seederat (talkcontribs)

I was thinking of going through a couple of images on that page every so often when I have time. It would probably be easier for me if I stuck to that page, but you could point out some higher priority requests on your Pastebin. It would be great if you could let me know where my help is needed most.

And while we're talking: is it normal for user talk topics to be so buggy? I have currently only encountered this on my previous "Terror-antula image" page. The only message that consistently shows up is the very first one. Other messages only show up after every other refresh. And even when they do, every other one is skipped. I have only seen the very last message on that topic twice after several dozen refreshes. I've tried looking at the page on several different browsers, two different computers, and on my phone using cellular data. Even after two days the situation has not improved. I'm mostly asking this because you two didn't seem to have a problem writing new messages, as if you were able to see things correctly, which makes me think something is wrong on my end.

Gabrielwoj (talkcontribs)

Sure.

Yup, it's a problem that everyone has ever since we implemented this new Discussion. We kinda have to deal with it, but we already suggested for a revert (to go back to the previous talk system), don't know when it'll happen, if it ever even happens. I managed to reply to your responses by going to Recent Changes, expanding the Discussion item and clicking on the last timestamp (so I can read the reply in question). Then I'd open the talkpage normally and reply from there.

It's pretty difficult to manage getting all replies to a topic with a Refresh, the system is that buggy.

Was this image made in SFM?
GrampaSwood (talk) 18:58, 5 February 2020 (UTC)

Gabrielwoj (talkcontribs)

Pretty sure that's HLMV, SFM has a different kind of shading.

Your image looks much better than the previous one, so good job. My only criticism is that you're not running HLMV with Very High quality textures (the Medic's emblem shouldn't be that pixelated).

Here's how the emblem should look like in very high texture settings:
IRzyLhg.png

You can try downloading my Pre-configured dxsupport.cfg to see if that fixes it (make sure to backup your dxsupport.cfg before, just in case).

Seederat (talkcontribs)

It was made in HLMV. I just downloaded the config that was linked to me and that has fixed the pixelated medic badge problem.

Should I update this image later with the very high textures or is it fine as it is?

Also, why do you think it was made in SFM? Is there something that I could have done better?

GrampaSwood (talkcontribs)

The pose looks odd to me, it looks like something made specifically for the cosmetic. Nothing about the quality or anything, no worries.

Gabrielwoj (talkcontribs)

Well, if the file I sent to you works like the picture I sent to you, then you can replace it if you wish, but it's otherwise fine as is. Though, high quality textures will look better for your future uploads, if you're planing on doing new pics.

Seederat (talkcontribs)

Changing my mat_picmip setting to anything lower than 0 causes the gray cornea issue. I fixed that with the fix provided on a different page, I just hope that not many other things are broken the same way.

Gabrielwoj (talkcontribs)

Only a few cosmetics/weapons (Chops Pipe and Quick-Fix are some examples) have the same problem, but no new cosmetics (ever since the Workshop integration) seems to have the same issue.

If you ever feel like needing to equip a weapon on an image, always make sure to use Stock weapons (that also means, no festive/botkiller attachments). So there won't be any issue with Quick-Fix since you wouldn't be using it anyway.
