Status effects, also referred to as a buff or debuff (positive/negative respectively), are temporary conditions that any player character may be afflicted with. Status effects can be positive or negative and come in a variety of effects, visual changes, and sources. Status effects all have a set duration, but some can be ended prematurely such as getting healed by a health pack or a Medi Gun. All classes — except the Demoman and Spy — are capable of inflicting a status effect of some kind.
