File deletions
I posted a Villain's Veil Strangifier Chemistry Kit that I just got today, but Moussekateer took them down as soon as I put them up. I am trying to help this wiki by providing it with information but I can't help if people keep deleting things as soon as I post them! Anyways, I also heard it works for other Miscellaneous items, can someone confirm this? Smartz118 (talk) 19:13, 27 August 2013 (PDT)
- I deleted the files because they were pretty low quality and unnecessary anyway. The backpack image taken from the game files would be better. —Moussekateer·talk 19:17, 27 August 2013 (PDT)
- Can you give me some kind of idea how to do that? I am not that tech-savvy but I want to be useful with information.Smartz118 (talk) 19:21, 27 August 2013 (PDT)
Tracking
Any word on what the Strangifiers are tracking? Chendelure (talk) 20:31, 27 August 2013 (PDT)
- Probably how the dota 2 strange cosmetics. Counts kills while wearing it. Most likely really. Ashes (talk) 20:36, 27 August 2013 (PDT)
- counts points gained while wearing it, whether gained from kills, healing, capping, etc. --Kincyr (talk) 14:22, 28 August 2013 (PDT)
Recipes

Variants
Input Recipes
The page appears to be listing input recipes for various hats, however they are different every time for each individual chemistry set. For instance, an Archimedes one is listed as requiring a Strange Razorback and I know of an Archimedes set that requires a Gold Botkiller Minigun, along with every other ingredient being different. Ninjadactyl (talk) 04:40, 28 August 2013 (PDT)
It should also be noted that every single recipe appears to follow a formula, requiring a multiple of a certain weapon, 4-5 individual weapons, and any strange weapon. The thing about the strange weapon request is that it can be literally anything, including Botkillers, Stranges from the Salvaged Crates, and even the Frying Pan, making some chemistry sets a lot easier and less costly to open than others of the same kind.Ninjadactyl (talk) 04:40, 28 August 2013 (PDT)
- Strange festives can be involved as well. My guess is anything marked with the possibility of being strange in the schema can be included in the recipe. JarateKing (talk) 12:32, 28 August 2013 (PDT)
The number of weapons required in the input is extremely varied; I have seen recipes ranging from as low as 4 total unique weapons up to as high as 12, not including the random required strange weapon. Also, whoever put up the inputs for the "Merc's Pride Scarf Strangifier" seems to be a bit outlandish, it's way too expensive as it uses hats instead of weapons for inputs, which seems unlikely.Smartz118 (talk) 07:22, 28 August 2013 (PDT)
- Merc's pride kit is 18 craft hats, mine was one from each class, but it seems that's not always the case.
- The class specific kits seem to be a few weapons + one random common strange (from a regular crate)
- The All-Father is a few weapons + one random rare strange (various from salvaged crates or strange festive from winter crates)
- Anyway, it's a mistake to say the set requires an exact formula, so we should think of another layout Reisen (talk) 14:45, 28 August 2013 (PDT)
- Here is how I see it. Since every Chemistry set has different requirements and none of them are the same, Even for the same hat/misc. Why not change the template to list applicable hats/miscs that have strangifiers instead of listing possible recipes. As recipes are generated and there pretty much infinite amounts of combinations. Ashes (talk) 16:22, 28 August 2013 (PDT)
- Agree, if like that, I can change that table to look like another table that I created. Also if you want to know recipe, I'll use {{tooltip}} to show when hover on the name of that items. Rikka Takanashi (talk) • (contributions) 16:44, 28 August 2013 (PDT)

There might be some sort of pattern to how recipes are generated, like maybe it always needs X weapons of Y quality plus Z of G. That kind of thing would be worth including. Toomai Glittershine 19:33, 29 August 2013 (PDT)
- It should also mention that the "Strange" weapon being used is either a rare (Blood, Gold, Diamond) Botkiller, a Festive or a Salvaged Crate variant, at least that is what I have gathered from looking at the market.Smartz118 (talk) 13:24, 30 August 2013 (PDT)
- I wouldn't say that, I think that Chemistry sets which ask for rare/expensives stranges are left to rot in the market while Sets which ask for more common Stranges are quickly bought off the market... hey, who's gonna sacrifice a Strange festive weapon in a Set for a strangifier when you can get an easier variant of the same item's set? LeChatMG (talk) 13:17, 1 September 2013 (PDT)
- Case in point, I got a Chemistry Set on day 2 of the update. I needed 10 Danger Shields, various other weapons, and (the kicker) a Strange Eyelander for an All Father Strangifier. It's just luck of the RNG. OB2KoMario (talk) 07:12, 4 September 2013 (PDT)

do chem sets accept uncraftable stuff?
because i got a chem set that requires craft hats and i know that i can buy uncraftable hats for less,so does it accept them? Ron30086 (talk) 12:55, 3 September 2013 (PDT)
- No idea. Its best to test that since it is a valid question. Ashes (talk) 16:50, 3 September 2013 (PDT)
Retired hats + Chem sets?
I have heard rumors of valve putting strangeifier chemistry sets out for the retired hats (Fancy Fedora, etc). Is this in any way true? --‡Blood‡ Buwaro Elexion 16:34, 3 September 2013 (PDT)
- No evidence of it as far as I know. If anyone can prove otherwise, it'd be good to know. --Omolong (talk) 16:35, 3 September 2013 (PDT)
No longer dropping
According to backpack.tf and Meet the Stats, no new drops have happened since very early September. -KazooieBanjo (talk) 07:51, 3 October 2013 (PDT)
Agreed, the Chemistry Set is no longer dropping as of Sept 7. Source: http://backpack.tf/stats/20001/6/0 Liquidefeline (talk) 10:41, 10 October 2013 (PDT)
New Strangifier confirmed: Outback intellectual
Check out his backpack, Third page and top right corner at the time of this post. If he moved it, it's the only chem set he has, so it's not too hard to find.

The list of collector's items
Well, in the "Update history"-section there is now a massive list of Collector's item sets added to the game, in my opinion it's so long it's just ridiculous and as we all know; it's probably going to expand until all items achieveable from the drop system will be in collector's quality. Can't we just remove that list and add a reference to the Collector's quality page instead? It just looks so messy.... Baraklava 03:59, 16 November 2013 (PST)
- EDIT: Nevermind, did it myself
