Alms For The Poor?

Hello Mr. Firestorm, sir.

I recently made an account after mooching data off of you guys forever, and I decided to help in return. Good for me. Unfortunately, I haven't found much to do aside the common grammar fix, and I'm itching to write something worthwhile. So, er, you seemed like a good place to start. Would you direct a misguided nubble towards something to do? TheMedik 19:25, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

First thing's first, you aren't allowed to be so formal next time you talk to me, it makes me seem old. The first place to look would be in the Task list which can be found by clicking "Help" on the left sidebar. In there, you can complete items on todo lists, fill out stubs and fix orphaned/dead end pages. Projects that are currently ongoing are:
  • Remove unneeded trivia from ALL the articles on the Wiki
  • Develop the Strategy articles more thoroughly
  • Test various statistics and measurements for new Polycount weapons.
Let me know if you're interested in any of these, and I'll direct you to the person running the project. --Firestorm 01:33, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
Dear Mr. Firestorm the Third, Esq.
Excellent. I can work on either the trivia or the polycount needs. Also, I'm not going to stop now, sir. TheMedik 01:53, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
Trivia would be best. See the Style guide for some info. see the Checklist to see what needs to be done, and contact Alex2539 if you need more info. --Firestorm 02:08, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
I've been looking at doing a bunch of trivia changes myself lately---feel free to hit me up on the IRC channel (#tfwiki on freenode) and we can perhaps coordinate some of our efforts! ~ lhavelund (tc) 14:34, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
Awesome, thanks! I'll be sure to drop by sometime. TheMedik 03:13, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

Help plx :3

hey mate could you tell me how you made the pictures in the userbox?

Help:Userboxes --Firestorm 00:37, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

AWB...

Authenticate with http://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/, make list from Category:Lhavelund Test, Advanced Find & Replace, create expression on:

== Trivia ==

making it change to

== Trivia ==
[note goes here]

make sure it auto-saves (I'd pick every 5 seconds), then run it. Worked fine on my three pages. Also, your homework awaits. ~ lhavelund (tc) 03:39, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

Interrobangs?!

You should use {{User:Lhavelund/Template:Interrobang}} on your user page. ~ lhavelund (talkcontrib) 02:35, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Unusual Engineer's Cap with Vivid Plasma screenshot

You were looking for unusual screenshots, yes? Well I brought one.

We already have a screenshot of that effect, so no need. Thanks.  – Smashman (talk) 11:28, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Scout 'Basic Strategy' section error

There is an error with the template on the scout's 'Basic Strategy' page that I have no idea how to fix. Just wanted to bring it to someone who's more knowledgeable than me's attention. Moussekateer 08:23, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up.  – Smashman (talk) 08:38, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Just a quick question

Is there any way to create some sort of try-out page? For example: I have an idea for a new page and want to create an example and show to others to see what they think of it. Thanks in advance. Desertfighter 10:46, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Yep, it's very easy. Simply create the page in your userspace in a sandbox. For example, you'd go to User:Desertfighter/Sandbox and work on that one. You can see my own sandbox at User:Firestorm/Sandbox for an example. --Firestorm 14:18, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
Thanks =) Desertfighter 14:55, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice

Well, I think Pyro talking is an important lifeskill that we should all learn (its the best gas-mask imitation). Besides all that, I didn't realise the importance of cutting down trivia before. I thought we should have added more, until Alex2539 showed me old wiki pages where the trivia sections were so long it was tedious to read. So now I understand the way this wiki works, I hope I can make positive contributions. By the way, how do you editors respond so quickly to wiki edits? The Engineer 13:16, 30 October 2010 (UTC)

We check the Recent Changes Log fairly regularly when we have time to. Personally, it was just chance that I saw you when I did, I've only been semi-active lately because of school --Firestorm 17:35, 30 October 2010 (UTC)

Your message on my talk page...

I've replied to it, on my talk page. --Sushiflinger 22:10, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

[1]

[2]

i would just like one of my pics to be up there =3

tell me if these are okay to upload --Solder 22:15, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

As I've said before, you're using completely different shaders than what most people would see. Fix that first --Firestorm 22:12, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

okay, team fortress folder deleted, max resolution, max setting, 16x anti aliasing pics

[3]

[4]

These are 100% quality and no shaders as i deleted the "team fortress" folder and the shaders etc are the default.

Please lemme upload one of these =P

--Solder 22:24, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Please take the pictures without a crosshair, or edit them out with an image editting program --Firestorm 22:27, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

okay, without crosshair

[5] is this fine to upload? =) --Solder 22:38, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

About the Wiki Cap

Yes, I know this is the question you didn't wanted to hear. About the wiki cap, I just have a question about one of the criterias. I believe 400 edits is good, that 2 months is a good idea, but... "Participate in the community by contributing to discussion". I tried going to the IRC chat, and I even said Hello, but no one answered. they were too busy filling the chat with names of TF2 wiki pages.

Now the question comes: Is that criteria completely obligatory and uberimportant? Thanks, --Healing Patofan Pew pew! 15:02, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

The IRC chat has a bot that details all recent changes, this is likely what was "filling the chat". With the recent influx in members, a lot of us have been very busy and haven't been chatting in IRC as much as usual. With regards to the "rule", IRC is NOT a requirement, making helpful posts on talk pages would suffice. Nevertheless, to answer your question, that rule is not necessarily a requirement, making a bunch of helpful edits and the like is enough. The reason that statement is there is that if you make a bunch of edits but never talk, we may never know what you're doing! --Firestorm 18:23, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
Oh, then that was it! Thanks for the info. now all I need to know is that I should get there sometimes, when I have spare time :P Well, now that I can, and If you have some spare time, could you see any o the articles I translated, to see if they are OK in wiki stile and etc?

you can see them in my userpage. I has them in the proyects tab. Thanks, --Healing Patofan Pew pew! 22:07, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
