Colors and Effects

When possible, can we have someone start adding the colors and effects on some sort of stock weapon? Like a fireaxe or something? Thanks Nibelhim (talk) 08:14, 25 November 2013 (PST)

I'm not the one to do that, but just to have them cleared out for anyone brave enough to enter the Talk page, here's a link to them all http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3202392 Baraklava 14:40, 29 November 2013 (PST)
EDIT: Go crazy, guys! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=201300820#190404

It should be noted that the eye effects adopt the color of the sheen on the weapon. For example Agonizing Emerald sheen with Cerebral Discharge will make the lightning look slightly green. Where as Villainous Violet sheen will make Cerebral Discharge look slightly purple. GOLDENTRIANGLES (talk) 07:08, 23 January 2014 (PST)

The fabricator levels

EDIT: The level, as all MvM Rewards, is the same as the tour number you just completed, silly me. Something to add somewhere in the article?

Possible Killstreak Medi Gun Bug

The killstreak medi gun counts killstreaks, but these killstreaks do not count toward the top killstreak on the scoreboard at the end of the round. Possible bug? Rockintyler8 (talk) 21:25, 7 December 2013 (PST)

Not a bug, that's intentional

The preceding unsigned comment was added by Railden (talk) • (contribs)

Actually, it was a bug, and it was fixed 2 updates ago Mr. Know-it-all. http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=12145 "Fixed killstreaks attained via healing not being considered for round-end win panel" Rockintyler8 (talk) 06:52, 8 February 2014 (PST)

Killstreak Effects Gallery

Hey, Due to the recent upload, It doesn't seem like the images really fit with the Wiki guidelines. So how about an improvement somehow.

  • Maybe showcasing it similar to how we do it on the Unusual page.
  • Perhaps finding a different method to replicate it without a mass screenshot with a lot of things in the background that take the focus away from the point.

Thoughts? Ashes (talk) 23:00, 11 December 2013 (PST)

We could at least start by using screenshots of the killstreaker effects on classes with the default cosmetics. Half of the existing shots have the effect superimposed over unusual hat effects, it's not exactly what you'd call elucidatory.TenhGrey (talk) 05:42, 18 December 2013 (PST)
Yes screenshots are a start but, It would be better to get rid of the background + the distractions as a whole. Like the unusual gallery images. The focus is set on the class with the effect only. So the same the could be used on here. Ashes (talk) 13:16, 18 December 2013 (PST)
I would prefer it to be the same as the Unusual page as well. The fact that the images have users wearing unusual hats is just confusing. Don't forget to show the difference between a 5 killstreak and a 10 kill streak as well as the effects are different. GOLDENTRIANGLES (talk) 07:12, 23 January 2014 (PST)

Killstreak total between killstreak weapons

Do killstreak counts total up between all killstreak weapons, IE if I get 10 kills with a killstreak sniper rifle, and switch to my pro killstreak carbine, will i get the effects? Nattajerk (talk) 19:28, 13 December 2013 (PST)

I'm pretty sure they do. I got a 10 killstreak with just a normal killstreak, and it caused my eyes to go when using my professional GOLDENTRIANGLES (talk) 07:03, 23 January 2014 (PST)

Bugs: sheen effects

  • "Some items do not seem to display any sheen effects." -- I recommend either (1) citing and example or a weapon which does not properly display an effect (weapon and color), or (2) remove this otherwise unsupported statement. -- Jmudge (talk) 14:32, 15 December 2013 (PST)
Certain items such as the Fists, Gunslinger and the Chargin' Targe don't have the sheen. However the Targe will adopt the Eyelander's sheen in first person, yet has it's own sheen in third-person. It's probably due to the viewmodel's submodels but don't quote me on it. Ubermunchkin (talk) 16:56, 19 December 2013 (PST)

Eyelander bug

"The Killstreak counter and Head counter on the HUD are overlaid on each other with a Killstreak Eyelander." You sure about this? http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=203560476 DarkVulpes (talk) 14:10, 18 December 2013 (PST)

Ausrtalium killstreak

Should it be added that australium weapons can be killstreaked? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Macedolago (talk) • (contribs) 00:32, 21 December 2013

"Killing" a Dead Ringer Spy

How does "killing" a Dead Ringer Spy who faked his death affect the killstreak counter? Does it increase the killstreak number in the killfeed? Does it repeat a previous killstreak number in the killfeed? Will it show the same number twice? Rolen47 (talk) 13:43, 1 January 2014 (PST)

Activating a Spy's Dead Ringer will count as a kill towards your killstreak and advance the number on the killfeed and your HUD by 1. This will be reflected on the killfeed, your HUD, and if it was a 5th kill also display a killstreak message to the server. If you kill that same Spy again legitimately, the same effects will happen as well. This article listed it as a bug, but this is probably intentional behavior because if none of these things occured when activating a Dead Ringer, it would ruin the surprise of the Spy activating it in the first place and make spy checking too obvious. Chicobo329 (talk) 03:27, 2 January 2014 (PST)
See Dead Ringer#Feign death effects. This information shouldn't really be listed here at all. 07:50, 2 January 2014 (PST)

How will the name turn out if one uses both, Killstreak Kits and Strange Filters?

User Zabidenu killstreak + filter.jpg

The two possible options I would expect are "Strange Killstreak Wild Shovel" or "Strange Wild Killstreak Shovel". Anybody knows if it makes a difference whether you use the kit or the filter first? Lunaticmage (talk) 03:20, 14 January 2014 (PST)

Someone would have to test this to see what has priority in the naming. Ashes (talk) 06:36, 14 January 2014 (PST)
Just did the science, and the results can be seen at the right - the strange filter's prefix comes first. (edit: if it matters at all, I applied the filter first.)

Killstreak Medi Gun, possible unintentional effect

Ok, so after using my Killstreak Medi Gun for a while I've found something interesting. If you do damage at another player and quickly switch to your Medi Gun without healing anyone, the kill assist will count toward your killstreak even if you aren't healing the person who killed the enemy. For example, if I fire syringes at a scout rushing at me and switch to the medi gun (without beginning to heal him) I will get a killstreak added to the counter for the assist. Intentional or Not? Bug section worthy? Rockintyler8 (talk) 15:19, 11 February 2014 (PST)

It depends on whether kill assists count as normal behaviour for Killstreak weapons. If it is abnormal like you say, then you can add it in. --Samuel Enthers 15:30, 11 February 2014 (PST)
Pretty sure it was intentional as the medigun counts Assists. So healing or not, As long as you get the assist in the feed. Ashes (talk) 15:50, 11 February 2014 (PST)
Seems like a good strategy for hybrid medicing then. Rockintyler8 (talk) 19:58, 13 February 2014 (PST)

Testing out effects?

Is there anyway to test out effects on weapons without kits in a single player? Such as using console commands or the like?

I crafted a Team Shine effect for the wrench and put it on my festive. The wrench shine isn't as bright as it is on other weapons, and It would have been a good thing to know before hand. GOLDENTRIANGLES (talk) 07:15, 28 February 2014 (PST)

As far as I'm aware, there is no way of testing the sheen effects ingame. It might be possible in SFM, but I wouldn't know where to start with that. --Omolong (talk) 07:28, 28 February 2014 (PST)

Killstreak effect on strange items

does adding a killstreak kit to a strange item reset the strange item's counter? i seem to remember adding a spec killstreak kit to a friend's strange weapon and his commenting that it reset his kill count. i came to the wiki to confirm or deny this phenomenon but i don't see anything to state that it does or not. if this is so, then it would be worthy information to add to the wiki page.

Frÿguÿ (talk) 05:06, 17 March 2014 (PDT)

I can confirm it doesn't reset the kill counter as I added a Spec Killstreak Kit to my Market Gardener ages ago. But did he trade the strange weapon to you? If so that is the cause of it. Trading strange items resets their counters. Davo - (Talk|Contribs) 05:23, 17 March 2014 (PDT)
