October 24, 2024 Patch and BLU Scout pants
Assuming that the pants fix is permanent, should a text string template be made with default text for the undoubtedly countless instances in items, media, etc, where BLU Scout will have the old RED pants? I.e. "Since the October 24, 2024 Patch fixing a longstanding bug since release, the BLU Scout's pants are colored incorrectly"--

- I don't think it's worth noting and it would get incredibly repetitive to put on basically everything. We don't note that any pre-Meet the Spy Sniper appearances are missing the cut on his cheek. The plan is to only note this on cosmetic items which clash with the new pants, but only doing so after the next 2 patches. This is to give time to the creators of the cosmetic items to actually fix it due to the out-of-the-BLU nature of the change. Of course this would be assuming that this patch is a reasonable time away and not this evening.

- You were right, I surrender. ( • ᴖ • 。) (Reverted, but I wonder if maybe Valve would ask the conflicting item creators to use that BLU workshop fix so they can do it again at some point.) is it true Valve can't edit community items without asking permission? And if so, is that just a courtesy or legal trouble?--

- Per the SSA, Valve can modify accepted Workshop submissions in some cases. We can only speculate the details, but that's outside the scope of wiki talk. — Tark 03:38, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
Scout's name
In the newest comic Scout's name is fully revealed, but so are 3 other names. I think it could be humorous to list all 3 of these in strikethrough text in the bio section.

It should also be added to the Trivia section, either under the Issue #6 reveals or adjacent to that section. The Ives of March (talk) 07:19, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
Trivia section cleanup
The Trivia section feels kind of cluttered. I propose a cleanup of it, with new sections rather than lumping it under Trivia:
- A new section would called "Lore" or "Story". It could possibly be a subheader of the Bio section, too. This section would list the following the Scout's backstory, notable moments/discoveries from the main comic series (full name, inability to read, his kids, etc. Would include page references), and any kind of storyline-related trivia.
- A new section called "In other media", similar to the List of references' section on other games/other media. This section would list exactly what it says and be a collection of Scout appearances in other places.
These sections may not be filled as much as the Trivia section would be, but they would mainly serve to group these trivia together and make the Trivia section itself be about misc. trivia. I would also do this for the rest of the classes, so it's not just gonna be Scout's article.

I think a story/lore section would be fine I suppose, like Swood said I think it should go right underneath the "Bio" section of the page, as far as structuring the section I haven't figured that part out yet but one concern I may have is spoilers for the TF comics. I don't think we're going to have a whole synopsis of his character in the comics but probably there will be spoilers for the comics in small trivia lines.--ShadowMan44 (talk) 20:48, 12 August 2025 (UTC)
- I found the idea of moving bio/background/storyline interesting. But checking Trivia, I didn't see much present content there in that sense to move. For example, The Billy the Kid reference would not be bio/background/storyline for Jeremy. Moreover, it might not even be Trivia for Scout. It is covered elsewhere under NPCs.
- Along this line, I hold that bio/background/storyline content are not Trivia, as there are places for such content.
- I can see that distributing character bios into the Storyline might be reasonable and maybe useful, but it could also be useful to locate individual roles in the Storyline within the character's page, as proposed.
- I see unhighlighted text following the Bio box. It might not need a heading beyond the "Bio" of the Bio box, but it could be "Storyline" or something.

Depends The wiki follows a more-or-less well-defined section order for articles. If we add a Lore section, this would be a quite significant change. I don't know much about lore, but I figure it would only make sense if one could write enough running text to justify an entire section. Also, as Mikado says, it wouldn't shrink the trivia section much.— shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 20:12, 26 September 2025 (UTC)
- Hello fellow fortresspedians (?), interesting discussion here even if I'm a month late. However, I do not believe that the trivia section is overall cluttered, but rather it is disorderly in its structure. Per Mikado282, an "In other media" section would be a fair compromise to get things more organised and would not be terribly intrusive, but overall I do not believe it is necessary and fail to observe any precedent for it in other class articles (unless we desire to establish a new one). Realistically, sorting trivia can be as simple as bullet points providing a category and subpoints elaborating on the actual information.
- The Spy article does this particularly well by explicitly stating "The character has made some game crossovers:" followed by subpoints that describe appearances, these appearances are concentrated only in the subpoints underneath and are not intermixed with any other information. The scout article unfortunately has his appearances peppered across information on lore, rather than being neatly packed together and separated from his other important trivia (oxymoronic?). I propose we model the trivia section after the spy article, as it has precedent, is neat, and is nonintrusive. The latter point being most important given that scout is an FA candidate. - Yeah, the 'In other media' section is one of the two I proposed, so not much of a compromise but seems to support one of the two ideas. And yes, the idea itself is new and does not have a precedent, hence my suggestion.

- I like your idea GrampaSwood, I'd be in full support of an 'In other media' section if granting it to other class articles was part of the intent. It would be nice for article cleanliness given that trivia sections tend to get naturally messy. DoctorPepperCollector (talk) 18:10, 29 September 2025 (UTC)
