Coverage for Engineer Fortress (Server-sided Mod)
So, I've been wanting to suggest this as an article for Engineer Fortress, following the Mod notability guidelines. This community-created server-sided mod is quite interesting, so let's go over a few bullet points:
- Running on multiple servers:
- There are a total of 17 Engineer Fortress servers, with 8 with players at the time of writing (with 3 of these completely full). Additionally, servers from BangerzTF includes servers on client-sided mods for Team Fortress 2: Gold Rush and Team Fortress 2 Classic. Here's a sample of currently available servers: https://imgur.com/hzmxXwE.
- BangerzTF servers in specific has 50,000 unique total players and it's on Top 25 of GameTracker charts: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/bangerztf/announcements/detail/536616216701175461.
- Discussion among the community:
- I'm not too active on the TF2 community as a whole in regards to discussions and such, however, from a Google search, there are a couple Steam Guides and posts on Reddit about it:
- The Ultimate Engineer Fortress Guide (Steam Guide)
- Tier list based on Engineer Fortress, a gamemode I’ve been playing a lot lately (r/tf2 post)
- Where can I find "Engineer Fortress" servers? (r/tf2 post)
- Engineer fortress might be my favorite custom gamemode (r/tf2 post)
- Guess I'm not getting that health pack then. (1000 Uncles gamemode) (r/tf2 post, 3173 upvotes)
- Nemu's TF2 Steam Group (1,749 members)
- Bangerz Hangout Steam Group (498 members)
- I'm not too active on the TF2 community as a whole in regards to discussions and such, however, from a Google search, there are a couple Steam Guides and posts on Reddit about it:
- Reported in game media (blogs, YouTube, etc):
- Again, I'm not active in community-creation circles, like Youtubers, but there have been a couple, such:
- TF2: Spy Main vs 1000 ENGINEERS (Youtube, 988k views)
- One Thousand Uncles (Youtube, 1.3M views)
- TF2 Engineer Fortress is Exactly What it Seems (Youtube, Gameplay Footage)
- Team Fortress 2 One Thousand Uncle Danes Gameplay (Youtube, Gameplay Footage, 6.3k views)
- TF2 Engineer Fortress (Youtube, Raw Gameplay Footage)
- [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7], [8], [9] (Youtube, Streamed Footages)
- [10] (Youtube Playlist featuring 41 Livestreams)
- [11] (Youtube, Raw Footage from TF2C version of Engineer Fortress)
- Again, I'm not active in community-creation circles, like Youtubers, but there have been a couple, such:
- Other information:
- Engineer Fortress has an interesting story. The first iteration was made on a server called "Nemu's TF2", there were servers for 24/7 Dustbowl, as well a Payload-only server. Jill, a Valve employee that also worked on TF2 itself, also worked on this gamemode. I don't know the story 1:1, but I know a little bit. I did not watch the One Thousand Uncles video, but it seems to include an entire timeline history from the Nemu's days, to BangerzTF to Uncletopia's iteration.
- The gamemode is a lot of fun, has becoming very popular, and some weapons that are considered bad in regular gameplay is good in this gamemode. Even weapons that doesn't make much sense, like Cow Mangler, can be good here due to its lack of ammo capacity. Loadout examples on this gamemode would be neat to see.
My vote:
Yes.

- The servers on TF2C/TF2 Gold Rush don't matter, as we won't cover mods that other games would use so all entries including that are disqualified immediately. As for the others:
- Do these servers run it simultaneously? Nemu's seems to have shut down, so BangerzTF was created which runs one server at the same time as Uncle Dane does.
- I can tell that outside of already-established channels, it's not a very popular thing to watch or make videos about.
- I think it's a good contender, but also I would have to see if BangerzTF's servers are actually populated that often. 50k players is a good amount, but it's also counting people that connected once and left after 10 seconds which makes it not a very good view of the popularity.

- Nemu's is shutdown (there was talks about bringing it back but it didn't happened), but BangerzTF and Uncletopia's 1000 Uncles run simultaneously, separately. I don't really play on Uncletopia, but I have them favorited and it's usually pretty populated. BangerzTF is often populated (I play nearly everyday), I have been playing there for basically a year of two, and I often see new people. BangerzTF happened due to Nemu's shutdown (an update happened in the game that broke the mod and went offline since then). I'm trying to visit the GameTracker's website for Bangerz, but I'm getting 503 errors: https://www.gametracker.com/search/?sort=2&page=1&search_by=online_player&using=username&game=_all&loc=_all&x=33&y=11&per_page=50&searchipp=50&searchpge=320813&order=DESC, I'd assume that the GameTracker page has some juicy statistics in regards to the popularity that could help in regards to its notability. Perhaps Engineer Fortress is not too "stream friendly" or video-worthy, but actually playing it is a different beast, also not everyone who plays games streams or makes videos about them, so there's that too.

- Here's an Imgur album showcasing my Favorites tab, where I have all the Engineer Fortress related servers added (you can see the Windows taskbar for the date and time it was took, GMT -3): https://imgur.com/a/kohKhz4.
- Due to the size of the images, you'll have to right-click and Open Image to view in full. The album will be updated every once in a while.
- GameTracker is also back, so we can see information on some of the servers. Information for the One Thousand Uncles servers are not available:
- * Bangerz.TF Engineer Fortress || 24 HUMANS MAX
- * Bangerz.TF 1000 Uncles
- * -EotL- Engineer Fortress | NO ADS
