I'm thinking because of recent events concerning the game, it could be wise to create a category for strategy against cheaters, aimbots, and the like. Does anyone else think this could be beneficial?

I don’t think so, not that I hadn’t thought about it.
Last weekend it was simple enough to just leave a bot-ridden server, because it was better than 50-50 that the next server would have people that 1) managed to get control of a server and 2) knew how to rapidly detect and ban a bot. And I learned some techniques, even how to complete Contracts on certain bot-ridden game mods.
I was concerned that as the majority of people complete their contracts, us people with less time to play would get stuck with the bots. This seems to have happened. Terror is dead to me.
Starting yesterday, as I started on the new map contracts, out of dozens of tries, I could not land a peopled server.
Moreover, what strategy do you want?
  • How to fight the bots? That seems defeatist and makes the game something that players have not loved for many years, but I won’t discount that some people may make a metagame out of specifically fighting bots.
OR
  • How to detect and kick bots?
OR
  • How to organize the Community on resolving the issue? (not for this project)

I'm thinking more "what strategies could be beneficial to fighting off bots as different classes". I personally find Soldier to be pretty effective at dealing with them, since he mainly relies on projectiles, and you can fire at bots from cover without getting shot.

Pictogram cross.pngΒ Disagree The best strategy is leave the server. There is no point to play against cheaters, so there's no point to create an strategy page just for them.

Again, I won't discount those scant few that want the challenge of taking on the bots but Gabe specified that the basic game be 1) fun and 2) easy to play. These bots exist exclusively to invalidate the game on connected Servers on both counts.

Yes, you can complete most primary contract objectives, and sometimes it can almost seem like cheesing, but it is almost always slower, and always joyless, and without the joy the contract rewards only look like time ill spent.

I think I get the picture now. This project is for giving players tips and tricks on how to play the game better the way it was meant to be played, and having a section for countering cheaters would undermine that. While I still think that having a place to discuss ways to counter cheaters that isn't just finding a new server or kicking them could be nice, I understand that this wiki isn't the place for that. Thanks for the discussion, and stay legendary!
