Hello, Nanoco1000!

Welcome to the Team Fortress 2 Official Wiki!

Here are a few links to get you started:

  • If you're not too familiar with editing wikis, you might like to start with Help:Editing.
  • If you already are familiar with wikiediting, you might want to try Help:Style guide.
  • Recent Changes will let you see others' contributions as they happen.
    • To make Recent Changes more useful for all users, remember to provide an edit summary in the "Summary" field before you save your changes.
    • You can set the wiki to prompt you for a summary in your preferences.
  • When posting on an article's Talk page you should add four tilde symbols or ~~~~ onto the end.
    • This will add a signature and timestamp to your comment so others can easily tell who posted it.
    • Any new sections on an article's Talk page should be added to the bottom of the page and not to the top.
    • When editing normal article pages, don't sign your contributions.
    • You can use the Signature Icon.png button in the editing toolbar to quickly add a signature.
  • If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to leave a message for a staff member.

Painted variant images

Hello. Welcome to the Wiki and thanks for taking your time in making paint variant pictures. I would like to mention a few things regarding the ones you uploaded:

  • On both of them, there's a lot of empty space still on the images. It's important to crop unnecessary areas so they don't look small on the articles. If you use GIMP as your image tool, you can use the "Auto-Crop" feature in "Image -> Crop to Content". This will automatically remove any empty space available on your images. You can use the Batch Image Manipulation Plugin (BIMP) to make the auto-crop process easier: https://alessandrofrancesconi.it/projects/bimp/ (once installed, go to "File" -> "Batch Image Manipulation Plugin", click "Add" and click "Other GIMP procedure...", search for crop, and select plug-in-autocrop. You can set an entire folder for BIMP to do this process, as well adding an output folder for all your cropped imagery).
  • Regarding the Lawnmaker ones, I would suggest remaking them with a new angle and by including Engineer's head. On the rotations page, you can find useful materials that only leave the Engineer's head visible, letting you do paint variant pictures like the one on Trucker's Topper. I would also suggest changing the angle for it, something similar to the values featured in Trucker's Topper, try the following values (for both styles):
    • To add the specific rot and Trans values, you have to use the Registry Editor on Windows (Win + R -> regedit). Once there, you can edit the values for models.player.hwm.engineer.mdl at: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Valve\hlmv\, if you have models.player.hwm.engineer.mdl open in HLMV while doing this, you have to close it before editing the values. The head materials need to be extracted on tf/custom.
  • Regarding the Barefoot Brawler images, they look good, however, make sure you are not cropping any parts of the cosmetic. It seems that the upper region where the cosmetic starts (on Demoman's belt), is cut off. You can temporarily enable UberCharge textures to know when the cosmetic starts (Either Skin 2 or Skin 3 on the Model tab in HLMV), then switch back to their correct colors per team.

For more information regarding HLMV, you can see this guide here. You can use HLMV++ to easily max out your graphics settings in case the pre-configured dxsupport.cfg does not work. although, by the looks of your uploaded images, it seems your anti-alias settings are correct. If you need any help and troubleshooting, feel free to send me a message on my TalkPage or Steam's comment section. Another thing, when uploading painted variants and/or unpainted variants, make sure to use the {{subst:pid}} on the summary when you upload painted variants for the 1st time, and use {{subst:isd}} when uploading the unpainted variations for the 1st time. In case you forget, you can still use the same templates after you upload by using the "Edit" button at the top of the page (when viewing the specific file). This will automatically add the correct categories and licensing for each image. Category + license for community concept art

Hi there,

For community concept art, please use the category Category:Concept art as well as the license {{ArtworkTF2}} rather than {{FairUse}}. Please also note that "Another License" is only meant to be used if your desired license is not listed on the dropdown menu.
