Hello, Vege!

Welcome to the Team Fortress 2 Official Wiki!

Here are a few links to get you started:

  • If you're not too familiar with editing wikis, you might like to start with Help:Editing.
  • If you already are familiar with wikiediting, you might want to try Help:Style guide.
  • Recent Changes will let you see others' contributions as they happen.
    • To make Recent Changes more useful for all users, remember to provide an edit summary in the "Summary" field before you save your changes.
    • You can set the wiki to prompt you for a summary in your preferences.
  • When posting on an article's Talk page you should add four tilde symbols or ~~~~ onto the end.
    • This will add a signature and timestamp to your comment so others can easily tell who posted it.
    • Any new sections on an article's Talk page should be added to the bottom of the page and not to the top.
    • When editing normal article pages, don't sign your contributions.
    • You can use the Signature Icon.png button in the editing toolbar to quickly add a signature.
  • If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to leave a message for a staff member.
  • If you have trouble with anything on the wiki or you're not sure about a specific topic, feel free to join the IRC.
  • You can also customize your user page if you like.
    • When uploading images for use on your user page, please add the prefix User Vege to the file's name.
    • Additionally, if you would like to add any self-made content to the wiki, please do so by adding the prefix User:Vege/ to the page title when you create the page.

Once again, welcome to the Team Fortress 2 Wiki!

Strategy page edits

Hi there,

Please use the {{See also}} template instead of manually typing it out.

Craft = no edits

Hi there,

The craft parameter on the infobox refers to if an item is usable in crafting. For example, the Party Hat cannot be crafted, but is usable in crafting. The numbered parameter is to determine whether or not it can be crafted.

Valve archive link

Hi there,

Please avoid links to websites, such as Valve archive, that host leaked content as this is against Wiki policy.

Also make sure not to include too many links, not every term needs a link attached to it and it may lead to overlinking.

Trivia

Hi there,

Please read the Trivia style guide on what is and isn't Trivia. In particular, try to avoid making Trivia that is about the real-life version of a cosmetic item, rather than the cosmetic item itself (for example, your Trivia was about Tyrolean hats, rather than the Oktoberfester).

Please also try to avoid changing standardised sentences (such as the one about Styles having no difference unless painted) or removing information unnecessarily (such as the info about being able to use the Oktoberfest taunt in post-game humiliation).

Language page edits

Hi there,

I'm not entirely sure which languages you speak, but it's advised to stay on the English side + your native language side of the Wiki as opposed to editing all the languages.

About your recently edits on Giger Counter/zh-hans

Greetings,

While I appreciate your enthusiasm to help updating the language page, the quality of your Chinese translation is questionable to me.

Please be informed that more attention to your translation is needed if you actually speak the language and the use of machine translation is prohibited. User Dereko Name.png 11:14, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

Related topics/items

Please, if possible, do not remove the related/See also items from an article, (they're related, duh) ex: < https://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/index.php?title=Batman:_Arkham_Knight&oldid=3356673 >

You're new here, so, this is just a advice for not repeating the same errors as i did in the past, welcome to the wiki and read the translation rules for your language.

This is not an actual mini-warning, just a bit of advice/guidance.

maxwel (talk) 00:03, 20 January 2023 (UTC) Thanks Grampa (lol, i don't know the properly words, in my native language it would make more sense, but thanks) ☮

Atomizer page

Hi there,

On the Atomizer page, you've removed a bug without proof that it's fixed as well as removing the BLU image from the gallery. Please do not remove any information without a proper reason, and bugs that are removed need to have some kind of proof that they're fixed (such as a video/image showing it off, or a recent patch note). Please also do note change the names of kill taunts such as Grand Slam into Home Run, as that's not the official name.

Item link edits

Hi there,

Please note that not every language supports the use of templates like {{item link}} due to names changing depending on the circumstance, it's recommended to not edit any language pages of which you are not familiar with. Please also don't move the DISPLAYTITLE to somewhere under the infobox, it should be put at the very top.
