Hello, Dix!

Welcome to the Team Fortress 2 Official Wiki!

Here are a few links to get you started:

  • If you're not too familiar with editing wikis, you might like to start with Help:Editing.
  • If you already are familiar with wikiediting, you might want to try Help:Style guide.
  • Recent Changes will let you see others' contributions as they happen.
    • To make Recent Changes more useful for all users, remember to provide an edit summary in the "Summary" field before you save your changes.
    • You can set the wiki to prompt you for a summary in your preferences.
  • When posting on an article's Talk page you should add four tilde symbols or ~~~~ onto the end.
    • This will add a signature and timestamp to your comment so others can easily tell who posted it.
    • Any new sections on an article's Talk page should be added to the bottom of the page and not to the top.
    • When editing normal article pages, don't sign your contributions.
    • You can use the Signature Icon.png button in the editing toolbar to quickly add a signature.
  • If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to leave a message for a staff member.
  • If you have trouble with anything on the wiki or you're not sure about a specific topic, feel free to join the IRC.
  • You can also customize your user page if you like.
    • When uploading images for use on your user page, please add the prefix User Dix to the file's name.
    • Additionally, if you would like to add any self-made content to the wiki, please do so by adding the prefix User:Dix/ to the page title when you create the page.

Once again, welcome to the Team Fortress 2 Wiki!

Arabic translations

Hi there,

I've seen you've been translating some pages into Arabic, but please note that currently Arabic is a deprecated language on the Wiki as well as in TF2 itself.

Page creation

Please be careful on translating articles by mistakenly not following the consistency of the wiki. As stated in the translation guidelines:

3) Navigate to the new language by adding "/LANGUAGE" to the end of the article where LANGUAGE is replaced with the ISO639-1 code of the language you wish to translate to, found here

4)Paste the code of the English page to the new one.

The French version of the article "Weapons" would be Weapons/fr, not Armes, Weapons/Armes or Armes/fr

Moreover, you don’t need to sign your translations, you can see in the History tab who created/edited any article.

Additional side note:

Please use the , in order to show the correct translated name of the article.

Like here as an example.

Adding languages to Templates

When adding languages to Templates, please make sure that the language code is alphabetically ordered in the language list, with the English code being first. I highly recommend you to read the translation switch guidelines, in order to have a better insight on how Templates works and how it can be used.

YossefTalk 12:37, 29 October 2022 (UTC)

The character we use is the vertical bar (|) not a capital i (I).

Wikipedia linking

Hi there,

To link non-English Wikipedia articles, add the language code in front of it. See this page for more details on how to link them. Please also avoid using translated names as links, so instead of Dubeltówka, it would be Dubeltówka.
GrampaSwood (talk) 14:41, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

hey grampaswood!
thanks for telling me this! I’ve finally figured it out with your help! Thanks!
Dix (talk) 14:46, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
Np, that's what I'm here for. Do note that not all Wikipedia pages have translated variants. Use the English link and then add lang icon after it if it doesn't have one.

Dictionary edits

Hi there,

Please remember to include an empty line between the last dictionary entry and the next one. Otherwise, this will break the dictionary.
GrampaSwood (talk) 21:19, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

Hey! I forgot to include an empty line between the last dictionary entry and the next one. I also didn’t know that it’ll break the dictionary Thanks for notifying me about this! Dix (talk) 14:16, 3 November 2022 (UTC)

Template/Article Creation in the Main Namespace

Please refrain from creating articles/templates for testing/personal/miscellaneous purposes in the main namespace. It is encouraged for users to create a Sandbox for these types of purposes in their user pages.

For Example:

  • User:Dix/Sandbox1

Moreover, if you have a suggestion for creating a new Template, please open a discussion here.

Uploading Images

Hi Dix,

Thanks for contributing to the wiki, however please make sure that there are no existing images of the file you want to upload.

As for the Smissmas background, it already exists.

Translating other languages

Hi there,

Google translate is strictly forbidden to use in translations, please don't add information to pages in languages you don't speak.
GrampaSwood (talk) 17:08, 22 December 2022 (UTC)

What’s up, sorry, I thought it was necessary to add a missing video
I apologize and I will never do it again, thanks for informing me about it Dix (talk) 17:55, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
Adding the video isn't the problem, the fact that you added translated sections of languages you don't speak through Google Translate is the problem. Additionally, you added Dutch to the German page.
GrampaSwood (talk) 18:04, 22 December 2022 (UTC)

yeah I guess I was being quick thats why I added Dutch to German, no wondering why.. Dix (talk) 11:38, 23 December 2022 (UTC)

Extracted posters

Hi there,

Please remember to add to these images. I'm also not entirely sure what the purpose of these are, as a lot of them seem to just be arrows or other unnotable signs.
GrampaSwood (talk) 13:54, 29 December 2022 (UTC)

Yeah I got all of them from signs folder
And yes.. my bad.. I didn't know there were a category for poster images. Next time I will include that in every poster image, thank you Dix (talk) 14:00, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
OH! And it's not all of them btw, half of them, I'll post more posters (if you think these poster images are suspicous check the signs folder) Dix (talk) 14:12, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
I know these are legit, my question is just more what their purpose on the Wiki would be.
GrampaSwood (talk) 14:16, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
Oooh, basically I want to upload them so I can put them in List of posters because the page is out of date and it doesnt has a lot of poster images Dix (talk) 14:19, 29 December 2022 (UTC) Dix (talk) 14:21, 29 December 2022 (UTC)

Taking screenshots

Hi there,

Please see this page on how to properly take screenshots, as your Bread Space screenshot is noticably lower quality than the other ones featured on the page.
GrampaSwood (talk) 10:15, 6 January 2023 (UTC)

Thanks, although, my PC doesnt have an HD resolution (bad graphics card btw) meaning that i should upscale the image maybe or change the weight and height without losing quality. Even my jpeg_quality is set to 100 but otherwise, thanks for helping me. Dix (talk) 09:15, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
