Hello, Gosha!

Welcome to the Official Team Fortress Wiki!

Here are a few links to get you started:

  • If you're not too familiar with editing wikis, you might like to start with Help:Editing.
  • If you already are familiar with wikiediting, you might want to try Help:Style guide.
  • Recent Changes will let you see others' contributions as they happen.
    • To make Recent Changes more useful for all users, remember to provide an edit summary in the "Summary" field before you save your changes.
    • You can set the wiki to prompt you for a summary in your preferences.
  • When posting on an article's Talk page, you should add four tilde symbols or ~~~~ onto the end.
    • This will add a signature and timestamp to your comment so others can easily tell who posted it.
    • Any new sections on an article's Talk page should be added to the bottom of the page and not to the top.
    • When editing normal article pages, don't sign your contributions.
    • You can use the Signature Icon.png button in the editing toolbar to quickly add a signature.
  • If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to leave a message for a staff member.
  • If you have trouble with anything on the wiki or you're not sure about a specific topic, feel free to join the IRC.
  • You can also customize your user page if you like.
    • When uploading images for use on your user page, please add the prefix User Gosha to the file's name.
    • Additionally, if you would like to add any self-made content to the wiki, please do so by adding the prefix User:Gosha/ to the page title when you create the page.

Once again, welcome to the Team Fortress Wiki!

Face Lift article

Hi there,

Please see my edit to the article. Many templates, such as {{heading}}, {{cl}}, and {{Hat Nav}} don't require the lang code (/ru). These automatically translate it already. A displaytitle is also not necessary for cosmetic item/weapon articles, these automatically get a displaytitle already. The {{trans}} template is only necessary if it is a large page that you are actively translating over a few days and is not required to use on a cosmetic item article.

Please also do not add trivia that's not present on the original English article, trivia about references require explicit creator confirmation.

Don't forget to add the lang code to regular links though, like [[Steam Workshop/ru|созданный сообществом]] instead of [[Steam Workshop|созданный сообществом]].

On your recent translations

Hello, Gosha.

Although I don't speak Russian, I trust you are doing a good job on your translation work. However, I have noticed some minor issues in the articles you've created, such as:

  • Not translating things in the infobox that should be translated (namely used-by and item-kind).
  • Not translating "Steam Workshop" to "Мастерской Steam".
  • Removing templates such as {{style name}} (automatically translates the style's name), {{Halloween restricted}} (automatically adds the paragraph about the item's holiday restriction), and {{heading}} (automatically translates the section's name).
  • Translating "Steam Workshop thumbnail for [item]" in the Gallery differently from what's been already established ("Значок Steam Workshop для [item]." instead of the established "Миниатюрное изображение [item] в Мастерской Steam.").

Additionally, it's best to wait a little more before translating articles for content that has only been recently added to the game, as information like features (an item having self-illumination, the specific details of a map's unique mechanic...) and trivia (inspirations, easter eggs...) is still being added to the root (English) articles and so they will be undergoing frequent edits in the upcoming days. For the items, the ideal thing to do is to wait until they receive official localized names so there is less need to go back to those articles and properly translate their names, as I know Russian deals a lot with suffixes (such as Командная кепка → Командной кепки in the Team Cap/ru's Gallery) that will need to be added once the official translated names are added. As for the maps, there is no good indicator as to when is a good time to translate them (personally, I would say at least a week once the locations have been written and gained images is a good wait time).

Edit: When you have the time, I would suggest you read the translation help page if you haven't yet. – BrazilianNut (Talk) 16:35, 12 October 2025 (UTC)

Reponse to your comment on my Steam profile

Hello again, Gosha.

To reply to someone's message in any talk page (article, template, or user), simply edit the topic and write your response at the bottom, adding the appropriate number of : at the start of each paragraph (the first reply should have :, the second :: and so on).

Also, as already stated above on the previous topic, AI-generated translations are forbidden on this wiki - editors are to translate texts themselves.

Cheers. – BrazilianNut (Talk) 19:27, 12 October 2025 (UTC)
