This page will be used to co-ordinate efforts related to the Polycount Pack Update. Admins, mods, translators and anyone else who would like to help out should watch this page (click tab at top of page) to keep track of changes, etc.

The Polycount Update will be quite a hectic time for the wiki. Not only will we have more active users by the time it comes out, there's also a total of 17 new items that may be included. Your typical class update generally only has around 4 or 5. If that wasn't enough, the Update also includes a new game mode (possibly meaning multiple maps) and the trading system. So yeah. (And don't forget that everyone is going to be wanting to play the game with the new items rather than write about them, so we have even less people to help.)

Organisation & planning will be the key here. Feel free to add any new notes or reply underneath any of the existing notes. The talk page of this page is transcluded directly onto the end, so discussion is a little more involved with the content. This project page is currently being maintained by seb26 [talk].

Background

Main article: Polycount Pack
  • Estimated time of update: September
  • Content to be included in update:
    • In total 17 items were announced as contest winners (remains to be seen whether all items are included in the game)
    • Also the Greentooth Pin misc item given to contest winners.

Links

  • Polycount Pack winners blog post
  • PC Gamer interview with Robin Walker & speculation about what's included in the update:
    • ~20 new items & hats (possible additional Polycount contest runner-up included?)
    • Item trading
    • New game mode

Pre-update organisation

Content

  • Some articles are being worked on already. See /Sandbox.

Procedure with unreleased content

What to do with unreleased content to prevent unverified speculation, etc.

  • Pre-release
    1. Work in sandboxes until item announcement.
    2. Put all potential item names on the protection list.
  • Release
    1. When items are released, {{Recent addition}} should be placed at the top of the page and the article then protected from editing (use {{protected|unreleased}} at top of page)

Co-ordination

  • Before and during the update we should use the #tfwiki (on irc.freenode.net) channel to co-ordinate with each other.
    • We may have a recent changes feed set up in a separate channel so it's easier to monitor edits etc (see talk page for details)
    • If you don't have an IRC client you can use the web chat access that freenode provides.
  • During the update, notices need to be put up on Talk:Main Page, Talk:Polycount Pack and other pages to try and keep everything centralized on Team Fortress Wiki:Discussion. We don't want stuff taking place all over different parts of the wiki, or on one user talk page where it's directed at only one user.

Delegating & jobs

The editor in charge of a specific page or number of pages is responsible for every addition to the page. They are to watch the page closely and test any substantial edits that are made to it. Responsibilities may be delegated to fellow editors as they see fit.

Anyone is free to contribute anywhere, but should talk to the editors listed below about specific responsibilities, etc. And some tasks are better left off to one person (e.g. backpack images).
