There are a couple of prerequisites that must be met in order for your application to be considered:
  • You must be active on the Wiki or the IRC at the time of the application being forwarded.
  • You should be an IRC regular or show a considerable amount of interest in being part of the Wiki community.
  • You must not have any active or previous bans/blocks from the IRC or the Wiki that are less than 6 months old.

If your application was declined, please wait a few weeks before resubmitting it.

  • Pictogram tick.png Done Gabrielwoj - I didn't logged in in a long time, so I lost my original account (or I never had one to begin with, since the migration to Libera). I created one recently and I would like to have a Cloak. Thanks. "##tfwiki"?

I'm attempting to join the #tfwiki IRC chat via freenode webchat, like usual. For some reason I keep joining ##tfwiki (i.e, with TWO hashes) instead. Searching "tfwiki" in the channel search feature brings up #tfwiki-staff, #tfwiki-rc, and ##tfwiki, but not #tfwiki. What's going on here? HitlineMiamo (talk) 06:28, 30 May 2021 (UTC)

Long story short, we have moved to Libera.Chat and that channel is not related to us. Join us at irc.libera.chat #tfwiki. — Tark lm(pt-br) 14:03, 30 May 2021 (UTC)
Ok, thank you. HitlineMiamo (talk) 20:28, 30 May 2021 (UTC)

Unable to join the IRC channel.

Yesterday when I tried to access the #tf2wiki. A notification was displayed on the screen. It reminded me that "SASL authentication to a NickServ account with a verified email address is required to connect from your current network.". ---- 1 Domination.png BEUFK-Contributions-Talk 14:13, 24 November 2022 (UTC)

The IRC is #tfwiki, not #tf2wiki. This might solve the issue.
GrampaSwood (talk) 14:14, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
:/ emm... ,It's just a spelling mistake....But I still cannot use the IRC after correcting the spelling.---- 1 Domination.png BEUFK-Contributions-Talk 23:56, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
You should try registering your nickname and logging in, see this page for more details.

Discord

We should use discord instead of IRC. Mediarch User Mediarch PFP.pngTalkMy Edits 19:54, 10 April 2025 (UTC)

Pictogram plus.png Agree Far superior to the IRC. You don't have to be constantly logged in to even see new messages + more convienient. Maybe there could a Discord bot that shows the Recent Changes page like Spacenet.

Pictogram nope.png Nope. Discord sucks. Just in time for this discussion.

Pictogram plus.png Agree Posting a meme will result in a ban.

Pictogram cross.png No. We had a discussion about this back in 2020. Migrating would require strong coordination from all present staff, and with the current issues the wiki is facing, now is really not the time for it. — Wookipan (talk | contribs) 21:02, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
Pictogram cross.png No. Discord requires registration (login and password), meanwhile on IRC, it's optional (though recommended so others won't use your name). This in itself is already concerning (having to login on an outside service) outside other controversies. The only alternative I could see for IRC would be the Steam Chat on the Official TF2 Wiki Steam Group (since the vast majority of users here have a Steam account to play TF2), but it has way less features than the IRC (no ability to link using brackets, false-positives of linking legit URLs, no page changes printed on the chat, and so on). #tfwiki-norc channel

Like #tfwiki-rc, there should a #tfwiki-norc channel where people can chat without Spacenet printing out everything in the RC log. Thoughts?
Plutonium | (talk) | (contributions) | User Plutonium Welcome!.png 15:48, 6 September 2025 (UTC)

You can simply block Spacenet, that keeps them all away. I personally don't see much value in having a channel without Spacenet entirely, especially not when most users are probably going to just enter the main channel and having users split between two channels severely limits how much help you can get in either channel.

Pictogram cross.png No: This would effectively split the wiki chat. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 16:14, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
