Possible additions to the article
I was wondering if it would be worth adding that Pilk has received the Wiki Cap and is the only person to have received it thus far due to it being a test drop. This video uploaded by WindPower could possibly be embedded along with it to show the drop. At least until a shorter one is uploaded somewhere. Could possibly go in the Trivia or Distribution sections until it is revealed how to obtain the hat. I think it would be interesting for those who keep a close eye on new items and the wiki to read.
Obviusly, add that neodement created the wiki cap
Getsuga Tensho 19:56, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- I disagree. I think there should be a clear guideline on how a wiki cap is obtained first before we get a list. This way, the list would be the supporting data for the guideline. Second, its a test. The information gathered from the test (bugs, problems, etc) are more useful to Valve and the wiki editors than the general public. ShunyValdez 01:53, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
But...won't that stop people going nuts about the new hat and making dozens of threads on various forums about it? And maybe to stop them from making pointless accounts on the wiki just for the head gear? Meower 19:02, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- He was testing the API, it matters not. We're still waiting on Robin to fix the hat drop, and then we'll be giving them out to those who deserve. – Smashman (talk) 19:07, 22 October 2010 (UTC) (Edited by -- Pilk (talk) 13:09, 23 October 2010 (UTC))
It would be more fair for Valve to release the way to get the hat, before giving them out, yeah, but what are the chances of them doing it? The only thing I can see Valve doing is an "event" where they say "Wiki Update Event!" "Claim your Wiki Cap!" "Simply create an account on the Official Wiki and Contribute to any article once to claim your hat!" Then people would pull a stunt like Steven Colbert did when he told people to go and edit the wikipedia page for Elephants on live television. The ended up having to lock it. We'll see what happens I guess.C09D 04:12, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
- I can guarantee that that is NOT going to be the way that the Wiki Cap is handed out. --Firestorm 04:20, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
- The hat description says enough. It's not a free-for-all handout, it's given to valuable contributors. -- Nineaxis 04:24, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
- Didn't NeoDement get the first Wiki Cap anyway? Corkscrew 08:50, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, but he's the creator. BLUH 17:06, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
Call me crazy, but probably the articles should all be locked as soon as the wiki cap is officially released. They should only be unlocked when the hat craze will wear off, otherwise some trolls might convince people to come here and make a gazillion edits to claim the hat. Meower 10:53, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
- No need. We'll block spammers. Sorted. – Smashman (talk) 11:17, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think that the hat will be given to people who simply edit anything on the wiki, in my opinion it will only be given to valuable contributors carefully chosen by Valve, therefore we don't need to worry with trollers, locking all the articles would be nonsense Allukard 21:25 (GMT -03:00), 28 October 2010 (UTC)
I was only suggesting a little trivia be added. The information might not be useful to people but in general people like to read little things like that. There doesn't have to be a way to obtain an item for there to be trivia about it. I'm not sure where you got the idea of a list from. I'm not suggesting the information from the test drop be added as that would be irrelevant but rather that a test drop has been made.
There are already some people confused as to how to obtain it as they know one player already has it. That alone got the TF2 Steam forums hyped up about it. If they could read that it was a test drop then it might stop people going crazy about it when it's not possible to obtain it. Basically what Meower said. Getsuga Tensho 21:41, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
- Good point. I guess its natural for people to go to the wiki to check how to obtain it. It can be helpful for people who don't read the entire thread to find out more. If its just a small trivia that the only drop is a test drop, then I agree. ShunyValdez 04:57, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Name suggestions
Well we had a description suggestion bit and I'm thinking that the current name, when compared to the other hat names, is a bit bland. Rules:
- Has to refer to the Wiki in some fashion.
- Alliteration is not a requirement, but it would be interesting as many hats include it at the moment. Up to you.

Suggestions
- Wiki Warrior. Had to be said, don't kill me. -The Neotank ( | Talk) 22:35, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well some time ago I suggested those 3 new Wiki Cap names: The Captributor, The Cap Lock or The (Wiki) Service Cap... Now, I have other ideas. If you like alliterations, I can suggest: The Wiki Workers Way, The Changer Cap or The Editor's Elegance (or Editors Excellence). EDITS: The Success Indicator, The Successful Revisor, The Trivia's Terror and the Worker's Implication Kit Indicator (it makes WIKI :D). Tturbo 02:52, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- Tturbo, I like "Editor's Elegance". Has that Gentlemannely ring to it. -The Neotank ( | Talk) 22:48, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
- Revisionist's Revelation. Editor's Ensemble. Compelling Contributor. Cap of Maintenance. Patroller's Cap. Reckless Revisionist. Pilk's Peak. I'll add more as I think of 'em. -- En Ex (talk) 22:41, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
- "An Adaptable Electric Teletype Guide Cap" A name for anyone interested in expanded language. :) Or more seriously, "Contributor's Commandant" -- Zoolooman 22:46, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

The "Rightful Revision", or maybe the "Contributor's Coronation", if it's only given to higher-ups. Should come with a badge, to fully complete the "Editor's Ensemble". Wearing both makes you really cool. EDIT: "Recent Changes Captain", "The Stub Slayer", "Correctors Cap" TheMedik 17:34, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Going to take a stab at this, how about... Writer's Writ, or Revered Revisionist's Reward? Scatmanjohn 18:56, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- How about "The Wickir Man", "The Wiki Man" or "The Wiki-er Man"? Basically one idea but a few ways it could be done. I will try and think up more names. Wiki Cap is nice though.
Thought of two more for the moment:
- "Writers Cap"
- "Writers Wiki Cap"
Getsuga Tensho 20:07, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
How about:
- The Cosmetic Edit
With Description:
- "This is a minor edit."
I don't know, all I can think of at the moment, maybe I'll get more creative later :P.

It should also be noted that today I have found another person with the Wiki Cap on his medic, by the name of RaffNix. Not sure he spoke the english language, but he appeared to be happy with it regardless. So perhaps someone trying to talk to him to ask how he obtained it? Hmmm, second thought I will do that myself. Wish me luck! --Flf4sgam3r 08:40, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
EDIT: Also, he has changed his name, but I believe this is his main as I have checked his profile for friends and it appears his alternate accounts are his only friends. The accounts are as follows:
SoulMaker_A_ SoulMaker_S_ SoulMaker_KING_
Unfortunatly he is also Korean, which means he probably won't speak to me using English. Anyway, I hope this information was helpful. I also have Steam ID and Profile Page at my fingertips, but i'm not sure if I am allowed to link those. --Flf4sgam3r 08:45, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
