Retired hats

Yeah, don't wanna mess the page up but the retired hats may need to be removed. Also there are some points below this that needs to be checked if they are ready. Railden 14:59, 6 April 2013 (PDT)

Two things. 1 Don't remove talk page posts like that. 2nd, The table shows items that CAN have an unusual effect. Not what can be uncrated in unusual. (Well technically it is still) But its just a list of what can have a particle attached to it. Ashes 15:06, 6 April 2013 (PDT)

Gifs

I think it'd be a good idea to replace the current example screenshots with .gif's, simply because they can so much better demonstrate how these particle effects actually look like in-game. Alternatively, there could also be a YouTube demonstration video, in a similar manner as weapons, but that's just an idea. - Selbi 15:38, 26 October 2011 (PDT)

Pictogram plus.png Support I've been wondering for a while why there weren't any videos or animations demonstrating this. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 17:20, 26 October 2011 (PDT)
Pictogram minus.png Oppose No, gifs are horrible. They waste bandwidth, look ugly, make the page sluggish and distracting. A video would be a better solution, but overkill in this case. ~ Ath (talk) 17:52, 26 October 2011 (PDT)
Well maybe have video links next to each effect (instead of having the video viewable on the page), or just one video demonstrating all of them? » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 02:30, 27 October 2011 (PDT)
That was my idea, one video to demonstrate all particle effects. YouTube has the ability to link to a specific point in the timeline of a video, so there could be links for each effect on the Wiki page. Also yeah, .gif's maybe are a bad idea, but I was more focusing on the question of should there be a demonstration video for unusual effects anyway. - Selbi 07:06, 27 October 2011 (PDT)
I don't think a video is really needed for this, the images are all that's really needed. It's a much better option for the user to use itemtest instead, as that way they can see what the effect looks like personally, and specify the hat to attach to. ~ Ath (talk) 10:44, 27 October 2011 (PDT)
Actually there's already a demonstration video present on the Particle effects article. I think it might be a good idea to add it to this article too. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 10:47, 27 October 2011 (PDT)

Possible Unusual quality items is wrong

This page really but really needs an update , I tried to edit , but really couldn't see how , for example : Unusual fast learner exists - No , it doesn't exists , who wrote this ?! and many other non-exist unusuals hats/miscs. Vaknins33 16:19, 10 April 2012 (PDT)

He's got a very good point. I have noticed Bonk Boy is missing from the list, and it is available as unusual. Some proof if needed. http://www.tf2outpost.com/search/3655003 Taser9001 04:25, 25 May 2012 (PDT)
The table used on this page has since been re-done, and is much simpler. It shouldn't be too hard to edit now, even for someone with only a basic understanding of the wiki markup. The table can be found here. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 04:54, 25 May 2012 (PDT)

Unused unusual effects: many many more that what's listed

They can be found in itemfx.pcf file. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Shadowtroop (talk) • (contribs)

Human Cannonball

Hi, the Human Cannonball has been confirmed as an available all-class unusual hat. Can someone add it to the page? I'm rather new here, and I don't want to break anything. DemanRisu 06:23, 20 August 2012 (PDT)

Trivia

Perhaps we should add a Trivia section. The "It's a secret to everybody" is just too good. And for those that don't understand, I'm almost certain its a reference to the Legend of Zelda. I've seen that phrase so many times its not even funny. -- Nocturne 16:09, 6 November 2012 (PST)

Availability

Is it new wiki policy to add uncrate (unusual) to availabilty part of every posisbly-unusual item? wiki.tf2.com/wiki/Crone's_Dome wiki.tf2.com/wiki/Executioner The preceding unsigned comment was added by Axiomus (talk) • (contribs) 11:48, 17 November 2012

There is no policy, but the list which featuring all the unusuals that are available needs to be listed up wit the unusual tag. User Ravecrib9t4 Signature Logo.JPG TNS 03:03, 17 November 2012 (PST)

Making effect preview images

So I finished remaking the gallery and to keep the gallery consistent in the future I'm providing the Source Filmmaker save file and the map used so anyone can add effects and keep the same exact style. http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?vyc76d78w4hd6u1 Error (Talk) (Contributions) 19:58, 5 January 2013 (PST)

Change the example?

I noticed the example of an unusual hat features the Napper's Respite, but all the images on the page featuring unusual effects has the Pyro wearing the Brigade Helm. Could I change the example to feature the Brigade Helm just so the whole page features the same example hat? TheNoobThatWas 18:10, 14 May 2013 (PDT)

There is a difference between the item infobox image and the actual effect images. We merely showcase the nappers as an example of, How it looks in the backpack. The effect gallery is fine. So don't change it. Ashes 18:22, 14 May 2013 (PDT)

Unusual Ebenezer and Cheater's Lament

Should the Unusual Ebenezer and Cheater's Lament be added, with a note saying they were support granted and not available normally? User Dr. Ocsid Recolormario.pngDr. Ocsid 20:29, 14 May 2013 (PDT)

No need to note it at all. I've already made a table listing who owns what mainly for reference so we don't have people adding said info on the pages, As they don't belong. Same on this page. Ashes 20:21, 14 May 2013 (PDT)

Ah, okay. User Dr. Ocsid Recolormario.pngDr. Ocsid 20:29, 14 May 2013 (PDT)

The Titanium Tyrolean

The Titanium Tyrolean is uncratable in unusual quality (proof: http://bazaar.tf/trade/235006 ) yet is not listed as so in the table. I have no knowledge on editing Wiki Tables, so could anybody correct it for me? Spam90675 (talk) 09:36, 20 June 2013 (PDT)

Clipping Effects

What happens when two unusuals with similar effects, just different colors stack? for example, scorching and burning at the same time?Nibelhim (talk) 20:45, 7 July 2013 (PDT)

They most likely would just clip. Don't see why it matters really. Ashes (talk) 21:09, 7 July 2013 (PDT)
I am using my abilities of necroing to revive this! But anyways to be honest, nothing special actually happens, apart from that the items stack in color. I know this by my two Scout unusuals, my Blizzardy Storm Bonk Boy and my orbiting fire Bombing Run. Depending on the type of the unusual effect, it might clip, it might not. It does not clip for me though. Altair (talk) 02:30, 9 September 2013 (PDT)

Unusual Offset

A while ago TF2 gave players the ability to adjust the offset for unusual/particle effects on certain hats and miscs. Should it be added how this affects the particle/item? It could be useful to note; I'd probably do it but as of right now I have no unusuals and the only hat I have that has this option the the World Traveler's, in which the option doesn't seem to do anything, so I really can't do a thing about this. Shnowshner (talk) 08:44, 15 July 2013 (PDT)

Perhaps a small note about it. Some people may not know how to do it but we'll see. Ashes (talk) 11:03, 15 July 2013 (PDT)
Probably adding two pictures or a video to show the difference would do it, so people can see how it changes/moves the effect. Also may be a good idea to have that information on the Particle Effects page instead of this one, considering that the World Travelers has the option to do so, yet is impossible to be obtained in unusual quality. --Shnowshner (talk) 18:17, 8 August 2013 (PDT)

Total number

So, simple problem, the top of the page states that there are 133 items with unusual effects; I count 226 registered as existing on backpack.tf, ignoring the Cheater's Lament, the Ebenezer and Haunted Scrap, but counting the Headtaker. May not be the most reliable resource, but either way, 133 is pretty clearly wrong, since the list at the bottom of the page contains 225 unique items (discounting Team Captain and Private Eye repeats, counting the Headtaker). The counts are almost the same, I may have missed one here, since the arrangement isn't as easy to count. I'd suggest that 226 is probably the correct number, but would like someone else to verify before an edit. Buck Rampant (talk) 20:53, 10 August 2013 (PDT)

You bring a good point. The # of total effects may have been updated. However the # of items that can have effects on them was never updated. (The count, not the template). Normally I would update it but it becomes a hassle to figure out, What can have an effect and what doesn't. So if you want, Get a total count then either edit it yourself or post it here. Also see if there are any missing hats on the template. Ashes (talk) 20:58, 10 August 2013 (PDT)
For some reason it was stating the number of Genuine items. I fixed it. – Smashman (talk) 21:30, 10 August 2013 (PDT)
Much better, but it still doesn't line up perfectly with the number of items displayed. I'll go ahead and check versus the backpack.tf cosmetics list for any discrepancies in the next day or so. Buck Rampant (talk) 23:46, 10 August 2013 (PDT)

Bugs

So... Just realized but some of the unusual effects start off extraordinarily large....

I just got a power surge hat and the effect starts off the size of the 2fort map. It eventually slowly shrinks down to my head but kinda gives my position away when its at a semi medium size....Nibelhim (talk) 21:42, 4 October 2013 (PDT)

new halloween effects

Were you aware that there are new effects added this year? Just noticed they aren't on here yet. And they aren't even in the patch notes oddly :/ Redjarman (talk) 14:06, 2 November 2013 (PDT)

I listed the names for the eight new effects and provided links to a YouTube video that showcases all eight effects, plus some screenshots I made of an owner of such a hat. --Knusperfrosch (talk) 10:44, 5 November 2013 (PST)

Should we add Trivia for Dead President?

I feel like we need to add a trivia section for the effect because you can see Saxton Hale's face printed on the dollar bills Redconer (talk) 23:56, 1 January 2014 (PST)

Unused Unusual

The particle inside the item_fx.pcf, has the particle called: unusual_aaa_aaa, which is an orbiting achievements trophies (see: Achievements). Since I don't know how to make those unusual pictures, I'm sharing to anyone that knows how to do it. Gabrielwoj (talk) 19:54, 5 April 2014 (PDT)

Recent changes to Unusuals

You guys dead or just becoming lazy? Some BIG stuff relating Unusuals have risen up since the Love and War update, with the Unusual Taunts, and Unusual Series #. I've already decided that Unusual Series means "old crate, old effect; new crate, new effect," based on the patch notes and what I read here: ( http://tf2finance.com/effects/ ). I'm hesitant to add anything right now to avoid speculation if this turns out to be false. However, I assume something can be done about the Unusual Taunts, if it is possible to show these using plugin, or do we have to wait until enough are unboxed? Shnowshner (talk) 13:30, 24 June 2014 (PDT)

We still have yet to decide on how to show them, so it will take some time. And no we aren't "dead" or "lazy". This sort of stuff takes time and have no one dedicated to do them in the same quality. Ashes (talk) 13:31, 24 June 2014 (PDT)
Okay then, it had been a while and nothing seemed to be getting changed. So does this mean we're still uncertain of what the Unusual Series #'s mean, or has that already been solved? 'Cause I'd gladly add it to the page if I'd been right for once. Shnowshner (talk) 18:06, 24 June 2014 (PDT)
