Innin ~ Introduction

Howdy there, and thanks for visiting my userpage! I'm not here just now, but please feel free to look around. Remember to wipe your feet before entering, and don't touch anything - I've just polished my userboxes.

The name's Cooper Kid, an alias I use everywhere so if you're surfing around and spot another one it's more than likely to be me. Check out my Xfire profile to see what I'm playing!

Aboot my Ain Sel ~ About Me

You might be wondering what's up with the giant picture of the Demoman at the top of the page. Perhaps you'd like to know why there's a Saltire in the infobox. Maybe you're also intrigued by the heading titles on this page, which are written in Scots. Well, wonder no more, for the reason is - I'm Scottish. No relation to Mr. DeGroot, by the way. My hobbies include sailing, skiing (not at the same time), playing TF2 of course, and tinkering with computers (though I'm far more likely to break something than make it work any better). And for the record, yes, I do like haggis.

So, what am I doing on the Wiki? Well, it all started with the Claidheamh Mòr - or, more to the point, the tartan on the Claidheamh Mòr. Someone had asked what kind of tartan it was, and I couldn't resist trying to find out myself. After several hours of research, I discovered that it was in fact not a real tartan, so that was a bit of a fail. Unperturbed, I decided to try and find out the real Gaelic name for claymore as, shockingly, Claidheamohmor isn't actually a word. So, I added the correct spelling to the trivia and what do you know? Valve actually fixed it in the next patch! Ah, yes, my greatest achievement.

My next crusade involved figuring out how in God's name you're supposed to pronounce the bloody thing (yes, I have an unhealthy obsession with that sword), and after painstaking research (which was corrected almost immediately after I posted my findings) I decided to stick around and see what other useless information I could add. The sword's pronounced Clayf-more by the way. See, now you've learned something! Come back tomorrow and I'll teach you how to skin a crocodile.

The biggest thing I've done for the Wiki so far is probably to refurbish all of the class reference pages - they were horrendously cluttered and hard to navigate around (if you ever have a look at the old TF2 Wiki, you'll see what I mean). So, I re-wrote them, and added a ton of new stuff. It was actually a really fun little project; I learned a lot. Those guys at Valve really are geniuses.

So, apart from patrolling the pages of the Wiki, on the look out for stray commas, I keep a very close eye on my treasured references section. I also look after the Hat of the Week and Misc of the Week sections on the Hats and Miscellaneous items pages respectively. I wrote separate random generators to use to select each one - a very time-consuming process but something else I thoroughly enjoyed doing. I am now the proud owner of the 118th Wiki Cap! I started as a rookie editor in December 2010, and in a little over a year I think I've made an impact on some level - thanks of course to all the other contributors who have helped me along the way!
