Hightower is currently under alot of speculation as to how the map works and where these lifts and dynamic payloads come into it. Edit this page carefully. Omnomnick 00:35, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Dynamic Payload? What?

I haven't heard anything about this "dynamic payload" except on this page. There wasn't any mention on the blog, or on the update page. Anyone care to provide a source? Keybored6522 00:48, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

I haven't heard anything about it as well. I guess "dyncamic payload" is something with the cart moving vertically up on a platform.Sim642 04:46, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
Sounds like speculation to me. For all we know, the payload only rises when people stand near it, just like it does in most of the final stage of Pipeline. Nothing special, just different. -- Pilk (talk) 08:27, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
We need to wait on this one so many things it could be like self proppelled etc etc--Markd 09:04, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Underside of unoccupied lift is a killzone?

It would appear that the underside lift can instantly "crush" you to death when unattended, even when it's still near the peak of the tower and too far from the ground to crush you into that. I noticed it when I jumped off the middle tower and happened to double-jump up under the lift right as the capturing team was cleared away. I died in midair when my head grazed the underside. Any value to this information? The preceding unsigned comment was added by NoraVulpes (talk) • (contribs)

I don't really see how its really a beneficial thing to add. Its probably just a small area that you would have to be hitting. And odds are its not that common to hit it. I don't think its really a value to add. Ashes (talk) 08:31, 17 October 2013 (PDT)

Does this bug exist?

There is a glitch that disables one of the teams' ability to push the cart, while the other team can still push theirs.

If it does exist, please add more information or put a video/screenshot somewhere. This is way too vague. ⇒Leaderboard class spy.png Anyar (talk/contributions/giveaway) 09:34, 28 August 2017 (PDT)

Bugged Bug screenshot

It seems that the screenshot provided for one of the bugs in the reference section does not work. For me, it just downloads a blank file that I cannot do anything with. Lolimsogreat21 (talk) 10:59, 1 October 2025 (UTC)Lolimsogreat21

Potential Trivia

A bit back I saw a comment on a now lost from my memory video claim that in the map logic for Hightower was evidence for it originally being a three-stage map with its original two stages cut. I didn't have time to investigate this until now, but there is some evidence I feel is compelling enough to back this:

  • info_player_teamspawn of either teams spawn points are named red_round_3_spawns and blue_round_3_spawns
  • path_track of either payload cart starts with the prefix plr_blu_pathC and plr_red_pathC
  • team_control_point for either team is cp_blu_C and cp_red_C
  • The center of the map file (0, 0, 0) is seven thousand hammer units away from where the map actually is.

To be transparent, when comparing map logic of other single-stage payload race maps I discovered that Banana Bay's team_control_point_round was the same as Hightower's being plr_round_C which is a point towards it just being map logic copied over from three-staged maps. However, all previously mentioned points still stand as on Banana Bay all of this other logic do not have any indication of doing this and its origin is correctly in the center of the actual map.

I wanted to know if yall think this is evidence enough to presume this to be correct so we may add it as trivia. User Fisherboy800 Fisherboy.gifUser Fisherboy800 User Talk Page.gifUser Fisherboy800 Contributions.gif 03:19, 14 February 2026 (UTC)

In my opinion a more concrete confirmation would be needed for it to qualify to be apart of trivia. The only factual thing we can mention is that Hightower's center in hammer isn't the actual center of the map and that the naming schemes for the points and spawns contain possible indicators that they are third in some series (letters C and numbers 3); which isn't really notable. Does not seem conclusive enough to say there were multiple stages planned. It is much more likely that they copied it over from some other map, or that the map was started from another map's file so they didn't have to do the game mode logic. The 2023 asset repo leak has one other variant of plr Hightower which seems to just be a pre-release version with very minor differences. The comments on each of the path tracks also states the exact same thing; '[team] cart starting point for [team] victory in both stages' which clearly indicates they've all been copy pasted. The each path of RED is also titled 'pathC_mid' despite being the entire map and BLU's are all called pathC_hillA'. The names of things here seems like it has no correlation of the actual map.
