+ | Is it uncommon to use sandboxes on this wiki, or am I just not doin' it right? Is there a way that I don't know about and can't find in Help to keep from "spamming" Recent changes log with sandbox edits? Or is there a different way? I like to edit in a sandbox so I can take more time to experiment, study, and learn. Plus, as I say, usually don't have much uninterrupted time here, and hate to leave a partial edit to put out a fire, or to sleep. How'd you find him and how do you know it is him for sure? Thanks though. – Smashman (talk) 12:31, 26 June 2013 (PDT)
- We had the item id/serial of his pin on that page, and that tf2items.com page you linked me to had a list of the item ids. I search for the item id from the wiki, and found it matched up to one on that page. His Polycount account and his Steam account both say they're in Canada as well. I also found six other accounts missing, and I found three other people thanks to a page on the Polycount forums, I just can't seem to find any associated Steam accounts to those three. I just wanted to mention it to you in case you wanted to see the accounts before I added what I found to the pages. --Omolong (talk) 12:40, 26 June 2013 (PDT)
- Real life Sherlock Holmes up in here! :) Everyone have their packs listed at the moment, but we probably should list as many as possible. If you could find out which packs they made, that'd be great. If you can't be bothered, I can do it next week. Cheers again, Sherlock. – Smashman (talk) 12:58, 26 June 2013 (PDT)

Thanks and question
How can I check is item is paintable or not? I'm kinda a little bit lost. Thnak you for your advice :3 Goora (talk) 11:32, 27 July 2013 (PDT)
- If you go into the Mann Co Catalog, and look through it for your item, it will say which tools can be used on it, like Name Tags, Description Tags and so on. If there is something called Paint Can in amongst that, then that item is paintable. If not, then it's not paintable. Another way to do it would be to look through the schema for it, but that's a bit more awkward. Though, it doesn't rely on the item server being up, which the Catalog does. --Omolong (talk) 11:36, 27 July 2013 (PDT)

About editing
I saw you added a lot of template that should use on another page except English like {{common string}} {{item link}}, which should be use on another language pages. Please revert back your own edits because if on single page have too many templates, it'll take a longer time to load and those templates aren't necessary one. Rikka Takanashi (talk) • (contributions) 19:40, 13 September 2013 (PDT)
I am wondering why you reverted my edit on Horned Honcho even though it was undoing trivia saying it was a reference to Hellboy, when you told me I could not do that. Legomaster445 (talk) 17:33, 22 December 2013 (PST)
- Your edit I reverted in the past was because the page already said that the item was a reference to Hellboy, so it didn't need restating. This time around, I reverted your edit because the information you removed was the only part of the page that said the item was a reference to Hellboy, so obviously it was still needed on the page. Hope this helps. --Omolong (talk) 17:37, 22 December 2013 (PST)
I, for one, am wondering, why, firstly, you posted this on a section made by another user, and why you are still removing the trivia, even if people have warned you that it IS a reference to Hellboy. Also that wording is pretty poor and i can barely understand what you are saying, please try to be clearer next time. Lumpy3 (talk) 17:38, 22 December 2013 (PST)
When I first did the edit, I am not being angry or anything like that, I read the page and it did not say anything about Hellboy. I was just questioning. The one time it was not saying somebody deleted my edit for the one soldier Halloween misc, it was not saying somebody was reverting it okay. I am still calm as of now. I did not know of anywhere else to ask this since he was the one to revert it. Legomaster445 (talk) 17:42, 22 December 2013 (PST)

About the Secret Diary
Can you show me the link about that? Rikka Takanashi (talk) • (contributions) 05:18, 18 November 2013 (PST)
- Yeah, sure. This Steam discussion topic has an image where you can sort of see the Diary, and there's a video showing it on the Heavy as well. This Reddit post has an Imgur album (link here) showing the Diary on the Medic from a few angles. I can get the relevant stuff from the schema as well, if needed. Hopefully, this will be enough, though. --Omolong (talk) 05:32, 18 November 2013 (PST)

whats the meaning of getting rid of my thing on the ARG page about those folders? heres a link to some proof http://imgur.com/9qY1YVi — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Eggmantheheavy (talk) • (contribs)
- As I said in my summary, we don't know if it's an actual ARG yet. It could just be Valve teasing a future update, or it could potentially be an ARG, it'll be hard to be certain until we get more info to do with it. --Omolong (talk) 05:52, 31 December 2013 (PST)
the mvm update? the pyromania update? they all used a form of hidden message, this is another hidden message, a message that my freind, arrran weeviling is trying to decode so, to me its ARG, a mystery that we, the tf2 community must solve, now are you with me or not? — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Eggmantheheavy (talk) • (contribs)
- We don't know if this is an actual hidden message or just an update tease. We know that Valve are working on things for the next year, and it wouldn't be the first time Valve have added something like this to the game/the game files that's just hinting at an update, rather than being part of an ARG. Until there is more evidence to support this being an ARG, it shouldn't be added to the ARG page. In addition, you should sign your posts on talk pages with ~~~~. Thanks. --Omolong (talk) 06:06, 31 December 2013 (PST)
then tell me, where should i put it? --Eggmantheheavy (talk) 06:12, 31 December 2013 (PST)

Correct order for templates?
Hey,
I'm somewhat new to wiki editing, so this probably seems like a dumb question, but here goes. I have made a few minor edits to the Collector's table template, and each time, the items I add are re-ordered. What is the proper order for items like that, so I don't keep messing it up in the future? - Sventlin (talk) 15:54, 3 February 2014 (PST)
- The Collector's template has the items listed in order they were released, and I've then been putting them in alphabetical order if multiple items were released at the same time. Other templates will have it differently, but I think most do have them in the order of release date. --Omolong (talk) 15:57, 3 February 2014 (PST)

Hello, sorry for probably a stupid question, but how you add only body in model viewer with cloth? Thx in advance!
- As, for example, here - Golden_Garment. By the way, can i do Painted variants for Toowoomba Tunic? :> (/) 23:41, 9 February 2014 (PST)
- You'd have to either edit the model or edit the textures to only display that portion of the body. I've got the textures I used for the Golden Garment and Outback Intellectual, but I haven't really looked into the Toowoomba Tunic yet, so I'm not sure if that would fit. If you can work it out, though, you can go ahead and do it, yeah. --Omolong (talk) 10:01, 10 February 2014 (PST)

Seriously?!
Painted Napolean Complex - I think that it is uncivilized. Why you added a new Painted variants?! -_- But, Congrats! Anyways — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Folkye (talk) • (contribs)
- There were two reasons. The primary reason was to show the inside of that hat more, as the paint extends in there. Secondly, a few of them weren't properly cropped, and some of them had large white chunks on the bottom of them, which made them look weird in the painted variants table. Hope that helps. --Omolong (talk) 20:18, 15 February 2014 (PST)
And one question "Why do you do Painted variants from the side?" example. I think that not very beautiful. -- (/) 21:55, 15 February 2014 (PST)
- That's pretty much just because that's the standard that I saw set on a lot of items that already had painted images. I can't think of any specific examples other than Scout items right now, though. --Omolong (talk) 22:39, 15 February 2014 (PST)

I'm trying to take bronze Mercenary badge photos with TFMV and HLMV. But everytime I load id_badge.mdl with those tools, the badge appears as gold one, And there were no any other options to change. Samurai
Hello. I seen that you deleted my edit. Why did you do this? Look here! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=254224258 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=254224329 Morton249 (talk) 10:19, 28 April 2014 (PDT)
- As it said in my edit summary, none of the bots are set to have the Menpo equipped. Dunno why it's appearing like that for you. --Omolong (talk) 10:22, 28 April 2014 (PDT)
Maybe its 2nd type of Samurai robot? Or exclusive for boss-fight? Or you playing with mods? Before April 24, 2014 Patch , I cant seen Menpo too. But after... I should play Mann Up and check another missions. Morton249 (talk) 10:36, 28 April 2014 (PDT)
- I have no idea why it's happening at all, but my mods wouldn't have any effect on it. I've checked the two files in the game files that list the robot types, and I can't find anything related to the Menpo in either of them. Unless someone else can think of anything that might cause this? --Omolong (talk) 10:39, 28 April 2014 (PDT)
I just played EE on official server and I found this. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=254268470 Without Menpo. But this version of Samurai isn't Crit boosted. Version from HH mission is Crit boosted and with Menpo. Next time, I will test MM mission... So, after testing I got this http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=254287972 . So, I can said, its exclusive type2 Robot for HH with 100% crits and Menpo. Morton249 (talk) 13:25, 28 April 2014 (PDT)
- If you were definitely playing on an official server when you found this, then it's pretty odd, as I wasn't able to find it in the files. I'll have another look through the files though, I might have missed it somehow. --Omolong (talk) 13:27, 28 April 2014 (PDT)
- After looking through all of the files relating to the tours, I managed to find it! For some reason, Valve didn't put it in the generic template file for the bots, but instead the individual files for the tours. I found a bunch of other unlisted robots too, which I'm going to go through to find out what needs adding. Thanks for bringing all of this up. --Omolong (talk) 14:04, 28 April 2014 (PDT)
Help me with an image
Hello Omolong, can you help me on this image? The biggest issue is the transparent part of the glass, I have no idea how to remove it. I also used gray background on HLMV because white doesn't look good with glasses.
This will be used in the Halloween Spells below the trivia, on the gallery.
Thanks! Gabrielwoj (talk) 05:50, 11 May 2014 (PDT)
- To make something transparent, I normally set a white background, take a screenshot, then set a black background and take a screenshot of that. I then put them both in the same file in Photoshop as separate layers, then set the blending of the top one (normally the black one) to difference. Then I hold CTRL and left mouse click on the RGB channel, and then use that to get rid of the background and sort out the areas that need to be transparent. You can just delete it or use an alpha mask to change it, depends on what you're more comfortable with. After that, I then just crop it down, save it, and then upload it. Hope that helps. --Omolong (talk) 15:08, 11 May 2014 (PDT)
- Putting the white background on that situation doesn't really helps (the reflection looks invisible if set to white). I also don't own Photoshop, I have GIMP and Paint.NET. Thanks anyway. Gabrielwoj (talk) 19:01, 11 May 2014 (PDT)
- [Image] - I tried. Try getting this image and create a new layer below the image one, and add a solid color. Gabrielwoj (talk) 19:35, 11 May 2014 (PDT)
- Yeah, the white background doesn't seem like it would help, but it's that with the black background and the blending set to difference that solves the problems with transparency. It's how I've done most of my images where a section needs to be transparent, and I got the instructions for it from Cobaltcakes, who uses that method as well. I have no idea how the instructions would change for GIMP or Paint.Net, but considering your image (which looks pretty good, other than jagged edges and the cubemap, but that second thing is pretty minor), do you have any suggestions for the differences in instructions for either of those programs? I plan on adding this to a page at some point, I just to get some instructions for people who don't own Photoshop and work out what page it should be on. --Omolong (talk) 20:21, 11 May 2014 (PDT)
- The GIMP I use for removing backgrounds (screenshot from HLMV) [I haven't used on that one], and the paint.net for many of my edits. For doing that potion image, I made the hlmv background as olive green, and imported to paint.net. I got the glass parts and made it black and white, and applied a transparency to it. I'll try to revamp the image by cutting the BG with GIMP. Gabrielwoj (talk) 20:33, 11 May 2014 (PDT)
- Ah, I think that makes sense. Well, using my method I got this. It's not perfect (the angle is pretty awful and there are some jagged edges I could tidy up), but that's the sort of thing I'd get through using the way I suggested. Dunno how much better that is for you or anything. --Omolong (talk) 20:45, 11 May 2014 (PDT)
- I revamped again, I used the GIMP to remove the bg (the previous one I only used paint.net), and sharped the edges. This is the final result: [Image] - The difference of mine and yours is the reflection on the glass. Yours looks better in terms of quality, but it's still crops. I want to add this image to the Halloween Spells page, as I've noted in the trivia about the model. Thanks for the help so far. Gabrielwoj (talk) 20:55, 11 May 2014 (PDT)

Prize Plushy images - What do you think?
After about 2 hours editing those images, I've finally finished the Prize Plushy new images. What do you think of them?
Link: [Final.zip (Mediafire)]
As the needimage note on the Prize Plushy page, I've done it similar to Scarecrow.
I've cropped the handkerchief because it would use too much space to show the engineer pants.
Thanks, Gabrielwoj (talk) 20:39, 12 May 2014 (PDT)
- I've updated the images [Final_AA.zip (Mediafire)], darkid told me about anti-alias, and I've went to google search about it. I was able to get way better results on the Prize Plushy images. I've also made a Coupe Disaster image, as the current one has white outlines. Here was the process ([Original image] -> [Edit try (No Anti-alias)] -> [Anti-alias edit (Final)].

- The second one you did looks pretty good, feel free to upload that as the new version. Thanks for doing it. --Omolong (talk) 10:20, 14 May 2014 (PDT)
- I'll, thanks a lot! If I see any other picture with problems, I'll try fix it, and later on, I'll try make my own ones. Gabrielwoj (talk) 10:34, 14 May 2014 (PDT)
Weird file usage in an image
I was editing the Crocodile Smile page, and I have noticed the Steam Workshop image was wrong. I've visited the infobox preview image, and only the English page is listed on the File Usage, but, all the languages has the Crocodile Smile preview at the right. I suppose that the bot will push it later?
Page: File:Crocodile_Smile.png
About the wrong image, the Steam Workshop image was the same as the one shown in the infobox. However, as I noted in the summary, the steam workshop thumbnail is smaller, has a white background and the arms doesn't show too much as the infobox image does.
Gabrielwoj (talk) 13:25, 18 May 2014 (PDT)
- I think that all of the other language pages are using a redirect to that image, though I dunno why that isn't showing up too. It's weird. I didn't know about that Steam Workshop image though, that's interesting to know. --Omolong (talk) 14:17, 18 May 2014 (PDT)
- Alright. Let's wait some days to see if anything happens. Also, only the English and Español page has the steam workshop images, both had that problem, and I edited both. Before I made the edit on the steam workshop image, I clicked on the infobox image, and it shown two file usage pages, the English page and the Español page. Now after I've fixed, it's only showing to the English page (the File:Steamworkshop tf2 crocodile smile thumb.jpg is working correctly, as the only pages that has this file redirected are "es" and English, but the other one is still showing only the English page, even though all the translated pages has the File:Crocodile Smile.png). I think the File Usage in the image page isn't working on the infobox image. Thanks. Gabrielwoj (talk) 14:40, 18 May 2014 (PDT)
Your Template edit
I had no idea that this template existed. Do you want me to remove all the N/A stuff that I've added? Gabrielwoj (talk) 13:02, 20 May 2014 (PDT)
- I'm removing them all now. --Omolong (talk) 13:03, 20 May 2014 (PDT)
- Ok. Sorry for the trouble. Gabrielwoj (talk) 13:10, 20 May 2014 (PDT)
Decal tool images (on the Decal Tool gallery section)
The Decal tool images found in the gallery are outdated (filters no longer exist) and out of order. The terms of service image shows an objector, instead of the photo badge. I did the three pictures again, but, I really haven't saw that those were .png, and I've did on steam screenshot manager (which saves in .jpg). I was pretty dumb on my part, I should print screen instead, but I really haven't seen the file format that the decal tool images were using [notice that the third image with the objector is a .jpg file].
But anyways, here are the pictures that I've made: [Pictures on Imgur].
- I think if you can get a version of the images in .png format, that'd be great. If you can't, though, feel free to upload those images and then change the ones on the page to point to the ones you've uploaded. If you could change the images on all of the language pages for the Decal Tool too, the old images could be marked for deletion. --Omolong (talk) 07:37, 1 June 2014 (PDT)
- You know what? I'll later do it. After I get another photo badge and a decal, I do in every language that tf2 supports it. And I'll take a screenshot of every step (with print screen this time). You mention to change the ones in decal tool with my .jpg ones, however, it doesn't work to upload a file that it's .png, unless creating a new one and marking the older for for deletion. ▪ - 08:23, 1 June 2014 (PDT)
- Yeah, I did mean to create new images and then mark the older ones for deletion, if it's not possible to overwrite the existing images. --Omolong (talk) 08:35, 1 June 2014 (PDT)
- So can I upload it even being .jpg ones? Then I'll need to edit every language that Decal Tool page has to update the gallery. In the future, when I get another photo badge and a decal, I take better screenshots and also take screenshots from the supported tf2 languages (I don't know if Japanese/Chinese/etc. is going to work, due the special letters). Thanks. ▪ - 08:39, 1 June 2014 (PDT)
- Yeah, it should be fine to upload as .jpg. The images have a good reason to be uploaded, and their original format is .jpg, so I don't think there would be any issue with it. And yeah, I meant that the gallery for all the language pages should be updated too. --Omolong (talk) 08:47, 1 June 2014 (PDT)

Powerjack 2D Image
Hi, I've made an antialias for the Powerjack image, but I'm not sure if it looks good: [Imgur]. ▪ - 08:32, 7 June 2014 (PDT)
Good news!
Sorry to post another topic to your Usertalk, but, I was able to put anti-alias on HLMV, simply by putting the stuff on "Intel Unknown" string. A page that I really want to fix is the Bill's Hat, the images doesn't look good. The model is in a bad position (I guess the best would be showing "curvy" thing on the hat). The position is also showing the interior of the hat, which is not needed.
I've made a Mock-up for the position. I've dummied the fire overlay file, got the anti-alias stuff to work and etc. I just need to know if this position is good enough for I start working on the pictures, background removal, and adding feather on the image.
Thanks a lot, buddy!
Disambiguation
OK, I was just applying the Wikipedia disambiguation style, I see their point about grammar correctness and overlinking, but I also take your point about local wiki style taking precedence. (I did look for TF wiki disambiguation style article.) Mikado282 (talk) 20:56, 10 June 2014 (PDT)

Bread Box resize
So, it was just the size that preventing the link in the Bread Box blueprint? Thx. Mikado282 (talk) 19:36, 19 June 2014 (PDT)
- It was actually the lack of the item icon that meant it wouldn't show up. Most of these sorts of templates use item icons rather than backpack images. The backpack image would have had to be resized anyway, they should all be 512 pixels by 512 pixels. --Omolong (talk) 19:38, 19 June 2014 (PDT)
- Thanks, you just beat me to putting the category on Headgear. Mikado282 (talk) 20:40, 19 June 2014 (PDT)
- I see your size change, I misunderstood that the red 100x100px mean the size limit, but see now that that is the resize of the template operation. You know, if you'd wait 10 minutes longer on adding the categories, you's save some typing. :) Mikado282 (talk) 20:54, 19 June 2014 (PDT)
- Yeah, the templates that use item icons or backpack images can be pretty unclear what they want sometimes. And I couldn't be sure if the categories were going to be fixed, so I just went ahead and fixed them anyway. --Omolong (talk) 21:16, 19 June 2014 (PDT)

I'd like to get in contact.
Hey man, I'm new to this whole "Wiki Editting" thing. It's all massively confusing and I hate reading whole on pages of information. I'd like to talk to you about contributing. I'm terrible with talking like this, so just email me or message me on Steam.
Just a little tidbit, BTW, I spent about 2 hours making all those photos for the Razor Cut just to see them instantly get shoved aside for yours, so, I'm a little unnerved. thepix3lator@gmail.com or http://steamcommunity.com/id/imsosorrybro Hath (talk) 17:47, 21 June 2014 (PDT)
Question regardless about uploading files.
I've read somewhere that you simply need to add {{subst:pid}} when uploading an image that is related to paint cans previews. Was that changed? I just saw your edit about the categories on the Gas Guzzler. Thank you. ▪ - 13:38, 22 June 2014 (PDT)
- I get it now. Unpainted ones shouldn't use the template, however, items that has "UNPAINTED" on the file name structure I still use the template? For example: File:Painted Tipped Lid UNPAINTED.png ▪ - 13:42, 22 June 2014 (PDT)
Man in Slacks
How did you got Man in Slacks to work on HLMV? For me, the cosmetic doesn't look right, it's fully black, with no textures, and odd lighting. Did you changed something on the material? ▪ - 12:59, 26 June 2014 (PDT)
- The VMT just has a $color2 line with no proxies or other relevant lines in the VMT. This doesn't seem to do anything ingame, but in HLMV, it just makes the whole texture whatever colour is set in $color2. So I just deleted the line and it worked. --Omolong (talk) 13:02, 26 June 2014 (PDT)
Monitor
I was able to use another monitor, which is really big. However, since it's someone else's monitor, I won't be using every time, but I'll try re-doing some of the "Item Set" images to a bigger size. Future paint items will be done on this new monitor. ▪ - 15:19, 6 July 2014 (PDT)
Glitched Circuit Board image request
I do believe the page needs a better infobox image (a character wearing the item) and the 9 classes wearing it gallery - as all other multiple class cosmetic have. --Kid Of The Century (talk) 02:34, 8 July 2014 (PDT)
- The item doesn't have a model ingame, like the Barely-Melted Capacitor --Omolong (talk) 07:12, 8 July 2014 (PDT)
- My bad, then. Those pages should mention that -albeit technically cosmetic- they don't change the player's appearance... --Kid Of The Century (talk) 02:11, 10 July 2014 (PDT)

Gabielwoj | Wikichievement unlocked! Omolong uploads all sorts of images to the wiki, but mostly, he uploads backpack images, RED and BLU images for the infobox, and of course, paint variants images. He also uploads images of new items (or fixes) when an update come out, or when an image have to be redone. In a nutshell, he does a great job related to pictures on this wiki. Keep it up! (Thanks a lot for fixing my images). |
Sandbox
Is it uncommon to use sandboxes on this wiki, or am I just not doin' it right? Is there a way that I don't know about and can't find in Help to keep from "spamming" Recent changes log with sandbox edits? Or is there a different way? I like to edit in a sandbox so I can take more time to experiment, study, and learn. Plus, as I say, usually don't have much uninterrupted time here, and hate to leave a partial edit to put out a fire, or to sleep. Mikado282 (talk) 19:16, 17 July 2014 (PDT)
