Skin
judging by the stats and description it seems to be an eyelander skin. Thunder9092 01:41, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- I know a guy who has it and apparently it doesn't have the Eyelander's other attributes. -Shine[] 01:43, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- Interesting. Could be a bug, as looking on the forums there seems to be quite a bit of them. Thunder9092 01:54, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- I've spent a bit of time with it for a few tests, and - to me at least - it seems pretty much the same. For a moment it felt like I was walking slower but maybe that's just because of the huge viewmodel. HirotheFox 09:04, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Crafting Recipe Duration
Do we know if the recipe will only be available during Halloween? (And if so, just Halloween 2010?)Ettin 03:55, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- No, we do not know yet. It will likely be impossible to find the haunted metal after the event is over though, as the achievement for it will go away. Even so, I see no reason why the crafting blueprint would vanish (many people won't be able to get the required refined metal before the event ends, so keeping it would allow for more time) HirotheFox 08:56, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
I've seen it crafted it with 2 reclaimed metal instead of 2 Refined. Seth_Hunter 12:56. 30 October 2010 (-7 GMT)
Found as Drop
I have removed "found as rare drop from the Horsemann" from Basic Information, as there is currently no proof of this (and if there is/was, it has not been cited) HirotheFox 07:10, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
Tradable?
Anybody know if it is or not?Lems 08:23, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- It is not, as it uses the metal you get from the achievement GeneShark 08:24, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- I get the feeling that Valve might change this later if there is a big enough outcry though, just as they did with the Ellis hat and pan. HirotheFox 08:37, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- I hope not, I just crafted one >_> GeneShark 08:47, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well, there IS a way to make it tradable. I gift wrapped a thing of Unusual Haunted Metal from my ALT account and, when I opened the gift, the Metal was suddenly tradable. I assume this has to do with the "Not Tradable" tag being replaced with the "Gift ID" tag instead. At any rate, it is possible to have Tradable Axes and Metal.

- Further more, as proof I present my backpack with Tradable Metal:

- Along with the gift trade glitch my axe is actually tradeable, I crafted this axe during the first day of the halloween update, then when i checked my backpack after an update my axe was suddenly tradeable, heres my backpack for proof as well. http://www.tf2items.com/id/WZ4Xm2vk Gamecrazy009 17:33, 30 October 2010 (UTC)

I suggest that until there is an official update addressing this issue. The tradability status should read “Some are” because it seem that every day it is changed back and forth creating confusion and frustration.Decoy 04:37, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
I've edited the page because not all headtakers are tradable now(im aware that most are)Sam-1-14 03:06, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
Page Title
Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker needs to be deleted and this page moved to it. Unusual is the quality, not part of the item name. -- Lagg 10:55, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- Technically Lagg is correct, as the in-game link to the wiki hits the page without the Unusual prefix, however since the item in the catalog is called 'Unusual', and I don't think it's possible for this item to exist without being 'Unusual', it's a bit of a toss-up on if it should be renamed or not, imo. --Org 11:03, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- It's just as possible for it to exist with a different quality as it is for a normally unique item to exist with community quality. We also know that the Mann Co. Supply Crate will probably never exist with a quality that isn't unique but we do not call the page Unique Mann Co. Supply Crate or The Mann Co. Supply Crate. -- Lagg 11:31, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- Neither does the backpack, the backpack does call this the 'Unusual' HHHH, but so long as this redirects to the HHHH I don't think it matters GeneShark 11:32, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
Tradeable?
...the Unusual Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker cannot be traded, unless gifted by Gift Wrap. This was later updated, however, and can now be traded.
When was it updated to be tradeable? There is no proof in the change log.--Focusknock 07:34, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
- I checked yesterday and mine is tradeable. However, there's reports that only ones crafted post-patch are tradeable, so I'm not sure what's true or not -- Balladofwindfishes 12:30, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- It isn't. I crafted mine 2 hours after the update was released, and mine is tradeable. - Jeff Andonuts 18:58, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- Mine isn't tradeable, crafted mine days after the event ended, Im not sure who reverted the note back to 'all being tradeable' I think it would be best to write 'most if not all'Sam-1-14 22:49, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

The ones that are tradeable were made such a long time ago through a glitch. That giltch is now fixed and impossible to duplicate. So the ones that are tradeable are the only ones that will be tradeable. The ones that are not and new ones will not be. That's all there is to it. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tylenol PM (talk) • (contribs) 15:45, 8 September 2013
Missing Kill icon?
- It seems that it shows the kill symbol for slashing people in the back, even when destroying a sentry or any other buildable. M-NINJA 17:57, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
- Interesting and humorous, but doesn't really need to be in Trivia. HirotheFox 09:33, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
Kill Icon
- I don't know how to, but someone should upload the kill icon for this weapon and add it like the other weapons. I'm surprised nobody has done this, especially considering it has a unique kill icon mentioned in the trivia. -- Balladofwindfishes 12:45, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well, someone did it. Scalene 06:57, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
General stuff

Unknown Patch
- Over the last few days, many Unusual Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtakers that, including a friend's and mine, after two days of being crafted, become tradable. I remember reading on our wiki that an untradable item will become tradable after two days. I can't find the source that I read it from, but I am certain of two things:
- One is that the source I read it from was on our wiki.
- Two is that I have not seen it since then, it was probably edited out after it was posted.
- If anyone is willing to help me get to the bottom of this then that would be awesome, but I'm pretty sure that everyone is not Gift Wrapping their Unusual Haunted Metal Scraps to get a tradable Headtaker. Sonic Nova 23:53, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
I crafted mine two days ago out of untradable haunted metal that I got via gift wrap, the resulting axe was initially untradable, but about a day later it was. My backpack shortly after crafting it: [1] . My backpack a day later: [2]Natemckn 20:37, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
- I had the same results; as proof, here is my backpack as Before and After. As you can see, it was over a two day period without any alteration to my backpack, I tried to list this Unknown Patch under Trivia on the article, but someone swiftly edited it out. Sonic Nova 18:48, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- The confusion regarding Not Tradable items has been significant; there's discussions going on at this page, Voodoo Juju, Spine-Chilling Skull, Haunted Metal Scrap, and Crafting. (The latter is where you saw the two-day notice, and it has been edited since.) As I do a lot of crafting, I've been trying to help determine what's going on as best I can. The current verdict is: items were reverting to Tradable after a time for unknown reasons, but recent reports suggest that nothing's been reverting to Tradable for a week or more. The best wording I can suggest for pages is just what I typed: Many things reverted to tradable, but currently don't appear to be doing so. RukiTanuki 01:09, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
Video
Either no video, or video for all. Consistancy is key. Vote? --Kurathedog 21:45, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
- It needs a video demonstrating the weapon. Not how to get it, now how to craft it. Just demonstrating how it works through gameplay.--Focusknock s 19:49, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
Where'd the Item Name go?
All I can see in the weapon description is this "Level 0-100 Axe" and the lines after that. Is it just me and if not: what happened? Psychopath 01:15, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
- Must be a glitch, my axe is fine. It might have something to do with the Item maintenance two days ago, but it will probably go away on its own.--Exiggah 19:54, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
Invincibility Damage?
- I was playing on a server with invincibility enabled so players could earn the Gored! and Sleepy HollOwned achievements. Equiped with the Chargin' Targe, I charged at an enemy player with the Headtaker. With a fully-charged swing, I was able to kill the player, even when invincibility was turned on, is this a bug? If anyone has had the same experience, then we should make a note of this.

Head Count Reset
- We need to check this. I remember me and a mate playing against easy bots with melee, for kicks - medic + demo - and we got to 120-something before it reset. I don't think it would be 126, though. Scalene 13:26, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
Name Tag + HHHH Glitch
Didn't want to upload it directly to the Wiki, so I've used Imageshack. When using a Nametag on this weapon, the Renaming screen shows the name as having "Unusual" in it, but it's rarity color is Vintage. Because of this, I've not renamed my Headtaker for fear that it'll go Vintage on me. Anyone know whether or not it'll go Vintage if I rename it? 404 User Not Found 05:23, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
- The nametag always shows the item you're renaming as blue and has the rarity in the name. -- Comrade Mike 11:54, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
- I do believe it always has it blue just to show contrast from the green text which states the item you are using (Description/Name Tag, Key). - Attaint 12:08, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
- Ohh, so if I was to rename it to...let's say "Unusual Valve Headtaker", it would stay at Unusual rarity? 404 User Not Found 23:38, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
- Why would you be afraid of it turning into Vintage? That would be super rare and you would get a Max Head from it. --SandeProElite 18:00, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

Not all of them are tradable
I created mine from a metal scrap after the event, but apparently this was fixed, however, mine's untradable, so maybe this is notable, I think a fair few are. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by BrandonSH (talk) • (contribs) 00:19, 14 December 2010
- Yeah i believe this true... should the "However, all Headtakers are currently tradable." note from the last Trivia point be removed? Aunwit 00:17, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
I don't know if the "bottle of scrumpy" thing should be categorized as a glitch
It isn't a glitch, but rather Valve neglected to record new dialog for the eyelander (and all other melee weapons for the demoman). It's more of a trivia thing wouldn't you say? Z Overlord 00:15, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
- The Eyelander already has sounds in game. Recording is not an excuse. -- OluapPlayer (t) 00:28, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
"Unusual" Backpack name
As I wondered to the HHHH, I have noticed the backpack name in the picture. It says "Unusual The Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker". Should it be "Unusual Horseless Headless Horesmann's Headtaker". It's in a wrong grammar, as it should be without "The"?Mardamien24 04:25, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

Blueprint status as of 1300677451
reddit user at http://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/g7wyq reports inability to craft the axe following the recipe on this page.
In-game indicates the recipe has been changed and the refined requirement halved: http://imgur.com/jAQdM
I changed it to reflect this: http://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/index.php?title=Horseless_Headless_Horsemann%27s_Headtaker&oldid=412311
But apparently it won't work, per Moussekateer: http://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/index.php?title=Horseless_Headless_Horsemann%27s_Headtaker&oldid=412312
Does anyone know a working recipe? NSCoder 03:22, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

April 14th Patch Change Reverted
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1838760SnowCanary 01:58, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
Weapon Demonstration
This item needs to have its weapon demonstration re-recorded, until then, this item should be listed under "needs to be redone" on the "Weapon demonstration project" page. The reason for this is the speed increase as heads are gathered is not adequately shown. The increase power of the "chargin' targe" is also absent, but that might be better as exclusive to the "Chargin targe"'s demonstration.

New description on horsemans headtaker on finnish (since the eyelanders name has been changed in there)
I have to noticed that there should be fixed small thing in horsemans headtaker's desctiption (problem should be on finnish language only i think) . Since the old name in eyelander was in finnish: "kaulankatkoja" Now it is "silmäterä" I have noticed that in horsemans axe part of the description is like this: "samojen henkien kiroama kuin ""kaulankatkoja"" There should be word "silmäterä" since the name has been changed in finnish language. Just wanted to point out that.
Crafting Recipe seems to show a Normal Headtaker
I noticed that when I went into my recipes to nose about the Horsemann's Axe recipe appeared to say it yielded a NON-UNUSUAL Horsemann's Axe. What's the reason behind this? A bug? Or can a Unique Horsemann's Axe really be crafted? THIS CALLS FOR EXPERIMENTATION AND FURTHER RESEARCH! — The preceding unsigned comment was added by SilentObserver01 (talk) • (contribs)
Horsemann's Axe is now Strangable
My friend has received a strangifier for the Horsemann's Axe in one of the Unlocked Halloween Crates you can buy from the Mann Co. Store. Checked his backpack. Confirmed strangable. SilentObserver01 (talk) 20:10, 29 October 2014 (PDT)
Item level
Normally I would just make a change or post on the talk page asking about opinions; here I am just going to go make the change and then explain why I've done it, just in case.
Until now the infobox has stated that it is a "Level 1 - 100 Axe" I am changing it to "Level 5 Axe". Stats.tf shows that about 37% of all HHHHs are level 5, with all other levels having around 1400 to 1600 each and level 5 having over 90000 copies. Backpack.tf also claims that the minimum and maximum level of the HHHH in the item schema are both level 5. It seems at one point the HHHH could be crafted at any level but that it was later standardised to level 5 (the same level as the Scotsman's Skullcutter). Other items that came in varying levels and were later given standard levels display the standard level in the infobox, as opposed to 0-100, as such the HHHH should clearly follow suit.
Given the sheer amount of time this has went overlooked for my reasons for explaining the change should be obvious. - Tasty Salamanders (talk) 23:33, 2 February 2015 (PST)
- Since it's Level 1-100 before, it doesn't mean that you can change the item info box to just set level 5 suddenly. It's right that Valve changed in June 30th, 2011 schema, but more than 240,000 of this item exist in every backpack, unlike the Normal quality of Black Rose or odd Vintage items. I think we have to talk about what should we do about this first. Please don't change it suddenly. Rikka Takanashi (talk) • (contributions) 01:37, 3 February 2015 (PST)
