Environmental Hazards
Saw Blades
Saw Blades are neutral entities found officially first on Sawmill, and appearing on numbers of custom maps. They roll inside a designated path and kill anyone that comes in contact with it.
Maps with Saw Blades:
Trains
The trains are a neutral entities that kill anyone on his tracks when it passes. The arrival of a train is shown by flashing lights at each end of the track and a sound playing, which you can hear if you are close enough.
Maps with Trains:
Pit Fall Death
It is different from Fall damage as there is no chance of survival, even if under the effect of an ÜberCharge. This is usually the result of falling to an area with no ground underneath.
It should also be noted that after a Cart Explosion, falling into the resulting crater will result in a Pit Fall Death.
Maps with Pit Fall Deaths:
Drowning
The character must stay underwater for 12 seconds before he begins to suffocate. Failure to rise above water will cause him to continually lose 5 health every second, until he drowns. Heath lost will slowly regenerate at a rate of 10 health every 2 seconds as soon as you reach the surface. Going back underwater water however will cease health regeneration until the player surfaces again.
Maps where Drowning is possible:
Pumpkin Bombs
Pumpkin Bombs are special pumpkins found only on Harvest Event and Mann Manor during the Halloween Events (or on server running those 2 particular maps). Once this pumkpin receives damage (from bullets, projectiles or melee) it explodes, hurting everyone around it.
Pumpkin Bombs should not be confused with Halloween Pumpkins. Ways to tell them apart are: Pumpkin Bombs do not move, where as Halloween Pumpkins will rotate similar to health packs or ammo; Pumpkin Bombs will always spawn in the same spots, while Halloween Pumpkins will spawn anywhere on the map.
Maps with Pumpkin Bombs:
Cart Explosion
The last round of any Payload or Payload Race maps, the Cart will explode when you reach the last point, killing everyone nearby.
For maps that only have a single round, the cart will explode as soon at it arrives at the final terminal. On maps with 3 rounds, the cart will lower into the ground at the end of the first 2 rounds, and will only explode at the last point of the last round, symbolizing BLU's victory.
The resulting explosion will cause all player in the surrounding area to be killed. Falling into the craters created will result in a Pit Fall Death.
Maps with Cart Explosions:
- Badwater Basin
- Hightower
- Pipeline
- Upward
- Gold Rush - Round 3
- Hoodoo - Round 3
- Thunder Mountain - Round 3
Gate Crush
The castle gate on Degroot Keep closes after a certain amount of time if the last point isn't capture, refreshing the two first points too. If a player is standing right underneath the gate when it lowers for closing, he will be crushed and die.
