Saw blades (also spaced sawblades) are an environmental hazard in Team Fortress 2. Saw blades first appeared in Sawmill along either side of the capture point in the center of the map. On most maps, if a player makes contact with a saw blade, they are automatically killed. Even if the player is under the effects of a stock ÜberCharge, holds out the Dead Ringer, or any other protective buff. If a player is damaged and subsequently hit by a saw blade, they receive one death point and the player(s) who damaged them receive a "finished off" kill.
Some maps have saw blades which work differently from the standard instant kill ones. For example, Soul-Mill's ghostly variants of the saw blade are present throughout the map in both stationary and moving forms. They deal 3 damage each tick, as well as scaring them during and for several seconds after.
Saw blades are cosmetically stained with blood for the rest of the round after killing a player.

Update history
- Sticky bombs now ignore saw blades.
Bugs
- Sometimes, a saw blade model moves to another section of the map, most commonly causing players to see the top of it through the ground. This does not affect the ability for the saw blade to kill, and any players that walk in the path of where the saw blade should be are still killed.
