Ghosts in Hell
Well, I don't want to start edit wars, so maybe it's better to discuss about player's ghosts here first.
First: Kills in Hell do not increase Strange weapon's counts. I don't see why this must be moved to the article about Stranges; this is not strange weapons bug or feature, it's map feature and must be noted here.
Second: ghost of Soldier with deployed banner still successfully buffing allies until the end effect of the flag. Is it notable/bug? I think so. Irvitzer (talk) 05:55, 8 November 2013 (PST)
- Umm after thinking, both are bugs because the ghost mechanic is not "be killed by ..." but "be changed to ghost by ...", I think it's worth the bugs. But let's another answer about this first.

- I'd say Ghosts are supposed to appear after a player's death, so turning a player into a ghost should count as killing them. As such Stranges not ranking, or effects not ending upon death, should count as bugs. I also agree that bugs caused by ghosts should be noted here, as they're currently unique to this map. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 08:19, 8 November 2013 (PST)
The Mann-tastic Four
About this achievement, i have Hell's spells,Skeleton Coup,Spelling Spree and Hat Out Of Hell. I have not received The Man-tastic Four achievement even though i have all of these, does one of them not count or is this a bug? — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Patronizedpanda (talk) • (contribs)
Soul Gargoyle peculiarity
Soul gargoyles are usually marked by the tf_halloween_gift_spawn_location entity in hammer, however this map, despite being able to spawn soul gargoyles, has no such entities. I decided to double check this phenomena by booting up helltower in tf2, waiting for a gargoyle to spawn, finding it and then going to that exact location in the hammer editor, which revealed that location to be empty of any entities or dynamic props or anything that should indicate that a soul gargoyle spawns here. Perhaps the soul gargoyle spawns are completely randomized for this map? Lolimsogreat21 (talk) 14:33, 31 October 2025 (UTC)Lolimsogreat21
- They're hardcoded, you can find their values in the SDK somewhere.

- One of the bugs for this map claims that gargoyles can spawn in an inaccessible location underneath the clocktower. Why would a sensible map developer place a gargoyle spawn in a bugged location. Lolimsogreat21 (talk) 14:36, 31 October 2025 (UTC)Lolimsgreat21
- They're coordinate-based so probably just a misplaced one.

Soul Gargoyle peculiarity #2
So after doing the rest of the maps it seems that Helltower isn't the only map that stores soul gargoyles this way. While the vast majority of maps use the typical tf_halloween_gift_spawn_location method (lets put it that way) which is easily visible in Hammer; Cauldron, Cursed Cove, Spineyard and Circus are the other four maps that also spawn soul gargoyles in ways that isn't immediately obvious. After doing some digging on Allied modders it seems that others have encountered the same problem. Some users speculated that this is because soul gargoyle spawns for some maps are handled by the game coordinator, or something along the lines, the contents of which cannot easily be accessed.
Since its only these five maps which are causing us a ruckus, I suggest we ask the map makers themselves of these maps how they handled soul gargoyle spawns. Unless someone has a better...soul-ution. Lolimsogreat21 (talk) 17:22, 1 November 2025 (UTC)Lolimsogreat21
- The other maps do not store Soul Gargoyles the same way Helltower does. They must do it in some other way, perhaps one that's not visible by decompiling maps (it can be a bit buggy). You'll have to ask the map creators. It's best to have these kinds of talks more on the Soul Gargoyle article than the Helltower article, though.
