There are some guns that are unable to be used on the Jailbreak mod . Most of the time, Sniper rifles and Miniguns do not work for players on RED. Lunch box items, like Bonk! Atomic Punch and Sandvich are not accessible unless a "trick" is done before the round starts. When a Red is in a cell, throwing a Sandvich on the ground, and then picking it up when the round starts will cause your player to have that Sandvich for the round. Drinking Bonk! Atomic Punch before the round will allow you to have the Bonk! effect for the round. Servers may have rules against exploiting this, so check before hand.

The Stickybomb Launcher is one of the most commonly used weapons in Jailbreak. It is very convenient for Reds, due to it's massive splash damage. The Engineer, Spy, and Demoman are the most commonly removed, due to their strength.

Jailbreak is a a custom game mode based off the Counter-Strike game mode of the same name.

Overview

Players are divided into two teams. The Red team is designated as "Prisoners", while the Blu team are "Guards". One member of Blu is designated as the "Warden," and is able to order the Red team Prisoners to obey commands or initiate minigames for them to compete in. Prisoners who fail the minigames are eliminated, until only one remains.

When only one Prisoner remains, they are allowed to choose a minigame (typically referred to as a Last Request). During this final minigame, the Prisoner competes against the Guards themselves. Whoever wins this minigame wins the entire round.

Alternatively, the Prisoners can attempt to win by "rebelling," and attacking the Guards. However, Prisoners possess only melee weapons, and must kill all Blu team members (who have full loadouts) in order to succeed.

Rules

Some servers have additional rules, such as:

 • a microphone requirement for Blu team members
 • rules moderating or prohibiting "Freekilling," where Guards kill Prisoners who aren't rebelling
 • "Freedays," where there is no Warden
 • Certain class restrictions

Weapons

Weapons are limited for Red, as they start out with only melee weapons. Food can be used, but only by discarding or consuming it before the match begins, though this is frequently discouraged.

Some classes are frequently banned such as the Engineer and Spy, as their sentries and backstabs (respectively) are difficult to counter given the game's restrictions.

Types of minigames

Various types of minigames can be played on jailbreak servers. Maps may vary, but these are some of the most common

Fall game: RED players are placed in a small, enclosed room with square tiling. A random square will begin glowing red, then fall into an environmental hazard. RED must survive until all but one square has fallen

Jeopardy: Played much like the gameshow, RED players must answer trivia questions. Failing to answer or answer correctly will result in the player dying.

Deathrun: RED players are placed in a hallway with traps. BLU players will activate traps from behind a wall. Game goes on until last rights are given, or until the Warden decides it should stop.

Crush game: RED players are placed in a room similar to the fall game room. The main difference being that the squares are coloured. A colour will be shown on the wall, any player failing to stand in that square will be killed. Lasts until Last rights or the Warden decides to end it.

In addition to map specific minigames, there are Warden minigames, which may be played anywhere. The most common are

Simon says: sometimes called Warden says, the Warden gives orders in the form of "Simon says do X", any played that doesn't do the action is killed. If the Warden says an action without "Simon says" at the beginning, any player who does the action is killed.

Last reaction, first reaction: Similar to Simon says, RED players must do the action the Warden says. Instead of saying "Simon says", the warden will either say "First reaction" or "Last reaction". The first person to do the action during a First reaction round will be killed, and the last player to do the action during a last reaction round will be killed.

Pokemon: The Warden chooses a random RED player (usually the first to answer a question correctly) to be the RED pokemon master. The RED pokemon master chooses a teammate to melee fight a BLU player chosen by the Warden.

Trivia

 • Jailbreak maps usually have pop-culture references, some include Doctor Who, Pokemon, and minecraft
 • Jailbreak has a generally bad reputation in the overall community for being over run with young kids
