Analysis

Key: C Major
Time Signature: 4/4
Tempo: 87 BPM
Length: 2:11
Release Date: June 17, 2014
Update: Love and War
Composer: Mike Morasky

The track opens with a gentle flute introduction, the serenity of which is soon broken by a rising brass section. The intrusive horns soon fall into their own rhythm, playing steadily over another marching-style beat consistent with the other tracks. This is complimented with a full drum kit, focusing on the hi-hat and snare; the open hi-hat sound and the snare mimic one another, creating an almost push-pull call-and-response between the two. A slightly-more complex brass section bridges the band into a modulation up one half step, before resolving back down to the complex section. As the band dives back into the more steady rhythm, the flute is introduced once more to solo, staying with the band to provide more melodic information as the song carries through. A saxophone helps carry the band to the conclusion, harmonizing with the flute in a rather unique trill to end on a high.
