Should unreleased items really be listed? Because then we'd need to include the Jag and all that stuff. --CruelCow (talk) 22:45, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
Technically, the Jag is still being planned to be released once attributes are applied to it. With that said, if it is added, would it remain in the timeline when its model was put in the game files, or when it was made obtainable? 119th Update

Mercenary , Soldier of Fortune and Grizzled Veteran were added. Later, in May 5, 2010 Patch, Primeval Warrior was added. Mozgoed 09:31, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Mann-Co update

Since the "Team Sprit" tool is added, should all other tools + Mann Co. Supply Crate be added? BLUH 09:53, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Pictogram cross.png No thanks I originally created the page with just Weapons, Hats and Misc items. I expect democracy will win out and add Tools, etc. My only concern is the size of the page. So, i'll start the voting with a NO. But, wiki is for everyone, what do others think? (Please notice i have not undone the "teamspirit" entry before you cast stones) Nooch 17:07, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
Pictogram tick.png Keep I was actually in the middle of adding the tools, like paint cans. They are technically items, I see no reason for their exclusion. The page is long as it is, a couple more items won't make a huge difference. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 17:10, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
Pictogram tick.png Keep What Moussekateer said. Also, Golden Wrench that isn't even obtainable is there, i don't see why the tools can't be in, with name tags and stuff. -- User Swordz Swordz.pngSwordzUser Swordz Swordz.png (talk | contribs) 17:12, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Crit-A-Cola

CaC was actually added the day before the 119th update, in the April 28th patch. I'm not skilled enough in table modifications to fix it, but it should be fixed. Balladofwindfishes 18:53, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Pictogram plus.png Approve I would support this reorganization. For discussion, i'd prefer a variation slightly less complicated. Maybe just change Class field to Group field that could indicate either class or item type?

For better readability, I wouldn't mix the classes with Item type. Maybe the best thing is scrapping the Item Type info entirely, and use you last vesion.--Kid Of The Century 01:46, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

Do the first version with the item types, I like it a lot. seb26 [talk] 04:17, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

Killing Floor Promotion

Should the title of the Foster's Facade and Stockbroker's Scarf section be "Killing Floor Promotion" or whatnot, in the same vein as the Poker Night Promotional update that released the Dealer's Visor? --Fragment of Nothing 03:27, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

Blank "Also Included in This Update" sections

Group Item Icon Item Name Notes
September 02, 2009Team Fortress 2 update
Hats Cheater's Lament Cheater's Lament Also included in this update:

Such as the above. It doesn't look very nice, especially since there's even a bullet point there with nothing following. Perhaps we could add "nothing" after the bullet? I also notice that some entries for promo items and the like have a small blurb relevant to it (e.g. "Added Bill's Hat for players who pre-ordered Left 4 Dead 2"), while others are blank, so I'll go through and add that kind of simple information to fill in some of the blanks. Zarokima 13:31, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

To be honest, I almost regret to have added facts not tied to items (maps, gamemodes). So, yes, feel free to update the notes with appropriate facts.--Kid Of The Century 17:38, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

"In total" section

I think it'd be cool to have an extra list in the 'Notes' cell for a summary of what was released in the particular update, like for example, the Sniper v. Spy update, it would look like this:

In total:

Obviously there's a point where it becomes stupid to list this for some of the smaller patches, however, for the larger ones that can be quite long I think a summary would suit. What do people think? seb26 [talk] 20:35, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

Stock Items

Seeing as they're the only items in the game that aren't included here, couldn't the stock weapons appear as well? They could have a short section at the beginning where they are grouped together, labeled "Stock Weapons", their release date would be "Initial Release" and we could be done with it? Stbeecher 19:37, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

Section headers per update

Being rather long, this page can become quite hard to navigate. I've prepared a draft here which I propose to use. The changes include attaching a subheader tag to each of the title rows, forcing them to appear in the table of contents. This makes it a lot easier to navigate to a specific update and to locate the latest update, as well. What do people think? seb26 [talk] 04:50, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

Pictogram plus.png Support - Needs it badly. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 04:52, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

Add maps

Right now, mostly all maps are listed in the note field. However, for example the last mappack didn't come with any items so those maps don't show up. IMHO it would only be consequential if we also include maps in the list and rename this to release timeline. --CruelCow (talk) 12:34, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Perhaps remove maps from this one, and keep it items only and create another named Feature timeline which also lists things such as Hauling of Buildings etc.? – Smashman (talk) 12:43, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Notes weirdness

For notes regarding promo items, the sections that go

"Also included in this update: Added Bill's Hat for players who pre-purchased Left 4 Dead 2"

sound awkward when said item is listed right before it.

Perhaps some better wording is in order? Maybe something to the effect of:

"Promotional items: a, b, c are awarded to players who purchase x/do y." Clank 02:10, 29 July 2011 (PDT)

Spine-Chilling Skull 2011

The No's have spoken! Crafted - Spine-Chilling Skull 2011 don't have styles much like a Gibus. Also, Bounty Hat, Treasure Hat, and Hat of Undeniable Wealth And Respect are similiar too. Currently, the timeline does include all the Gibus and Treasure Hats. I've said my peace, majority rules! Nooch 09:19, 11 November 2011 (PST)

Timeline Template

A big project here for someone good with the markup. This page is desperately in need of one or more templates - currently everything is just listed in a series of huge tables, which makes it incredibly difficult for anyone without a pretty good knowledge of the markup to add any new items. It also means that there are seperate tables for all the different language pages which are left out of date unless someone keeps an eye on them, so something which uses translation switching would help. I know a fair bit about templates but this one is so complex that I've had a few problems adding to it in the past, and I'm nowhere near good enough to make a template from scratch. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 04:01, 8 January 2012 (PST)

Is it OK to create a new template every time the new update comes? I don't see a way to design a common template suitable for any possible layout. And a template for every patch will at least help localized pages to stay up to date. — Login Soldier.pngStormbird talk 14:44, 21 March 2012 (PDT)
Or I can extract the whole page content to the big language-switching template. It will also solve the problem of localized versions updating. — Login Soldier.pngStormbird talk 14:49, 21 March 2012 (PDT)
And the 3rd option: a new language template can be created for every year. A change still should be done manually for every new update, but at least those changes will automatically appear on every localized page. We can start with 2012 year, leaving the other part for later updating. — Login Soldier.pngStormbird talk 21:28, 21 March 2012 (PDT)
Any of those sound good to me - anything would be better than it is just now, doing everything manually for every version of the page. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 04:16, 22 March 2012 (PDT)
Created and used template for 2012. Nothing changed from the facade, but all non-english editors should be glad now, including me :). As for the previous years, actually, there is no need in creating templates for them, because they are not subjects to change any more. — Login Soldier.pngStormbird talk 07:13, 22 March 2012 (PDT)
So instead of correcting it in there language they need to do it now this way: 1. click edit 2.copy the template name 3. paste it to find the template 4.click edit again and add there language in an even bigger text then before. I don't see this as very helpful. I would have made a template for 2011+2010 because these years are finished, and with it, it would reduce the code for this year, and after the year has ended you could add 2012. As it is now this is the same as the "demoman primary template" idea, not helpful for direct editing it in your language. Sorry but i really dont want this now, readd this in 9mont please. TheDoctor 07:23, 22 March 2012 (PDT)
The point is that when new stuff is added, it will be added to the template, and therefor will show up on every page which uses that template. This means one edit instead of several editors going through the page in every language adding the new items. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 08:46, 22 March 2012 (PDT)
Exactly. It may make editing in english a bit less obvious, but nothing too complicated. But at the same time, keeping all language articles up to date will require no additional movements at all (or maybe translation of notes, if any). Don't forget that this wiki is multi-language, there are some rules that should be obeyed if we don't want the translations to become a mess. — Login Soldier.pngStormbird talk 09:34, 22 March 2012 (PDT)

Italian

why is there Italian on the promotional updates? Koopa-Troopa 15:54, 16 July 2012 (PDT)

It was broken. Should be fixed after dictionary update by WindBOT. — Login Soldier.pngStormbird TC 16:23, 16 July 2012 (PDT)

Shouldn't stranges be listed as well?

Yes, in a way they are just pre-existing weapons being re-released with a special quality. But then again, they are an important part of the game and have a deeper impact than some random promo items with Genuine quality. Being released infrequently really makes sense for me to put them on this list too.

So, should they be added or is it really not worth the effort? - Selbi 11:22, 14 March 2013 (PDT)
