Random Page
Could it be limited to selecting the language you are using? I read English, I would expect the random page would take me to an English random page. MetaSkipper 20:18, 2 September 2011 (PDT)
Right, but the random page feature is still useless. It's roughly a 10% chance to get something in English. Any way to help? * Edit* I will bug someone if I can get contact info. Cranberry Jerk 11:06, 9 October 2011 (PDT)
Index
There are two links to Game Modes in the index, on the main page.
I suggest we poot Misc items or Team Fortress 2 Beta instead one. WatDaFok Talk me! 12:39, 7 September 2011 (PDT)
- Support Well spotted. I'd go for a Beta link, the Hats section already covers misc items. » Cooper Kid (blether·contreebs) 13:15, 7 September 2011 (PDT)

Should someone update it now for the Australian Christmas post today? Th counter thing says it but the blog part doesn't. RedXM 17:44, 13 December 2011 (PST)

Change of terms
To better reflect this:
1.) Could the link name "TF2 Official Blog" be changed to "TF2 Official Website"?
2.) Could the "Latest updates" section name be changed to "New", or "What's new", etc. since the website uses the name "Updates" for a section of their site and I believe "New" for anything new to any section?
2.) Could the phrase "TF2 Official Blog updated" be changed to "TF2 Official Website updated", or "TF2 Official Website's blog section updated", etc.?
3.) Could the name "Latest patch" be changed to "Latest update" or "Latest update post" since the website uses the name "Updates" for a section of their site?
4.) Could "Latest news" or "Latest news post" be added since 2 of the 3 sections from the site are already on here?
Rolandius 05:12, 23 September 2011 (PDT)
- 1) Good idea.
- 2) Not sure if that suits well for a section name.
- 3) Don't think so. That part of the website still is the TF2 Official Blog afterall.
- 4) News are usually updated daily, don't have any info in the Wiki and they already are pretty straight-forward in the Website. So I disagree in this.
- 3.) I don't think they refer to it as the "TF2 Official Blog" though. It is just one of three sections on the TF2 Official Website. Are the other two sections referred to as the "TF2 Official News" and the "TF2 Official Updates"? If so, then nevermind. Rolandius 04:53, 25 September 2011 (PDT)
Trending topics
A minor note. Shouldn't "Item Drop System" under the "Trending topics" section be written as "Item drop system"? Rolandius 22:09, 25 September 2011 (PDT)
Should someone add True Meaning to the trending topics? It's going to be looked up a lot because of the new post. RedXM 18:14, 13 December 2011 (PST)
Updates
There is a suggestion for 2 new columns of the "Latest Updates". What about adding Latest Schema Update (http://git.optf2.com/schema-tracking/) and Latest Community News (http://teamfortress.com/?tab=news)? GordonFrohman 22:57, 26 September 2011 (PDT)
And yeah, there are basic topics near the trending ones. But some of them are not Basic at all. Sentry gun is a weapon and could be found there. So do Administrator. Maybe it will be more useful to replace "Administrator" with "Non-playable Characters" and "Sentry Gun" with "Items"? GordonFrohman 23:05, 26 September 2011 (PDT)
- I'd really like new Schema notifications on the front page, and it would give the non-liked "Item Server Update" parts of update history a place to link to. It probably wouldn't have to be displayed with the patches and stuff, but a little note somewhere with a small page linking to the diff would be nice. Balladofwindfishes 05:53, 28 September 2011 (PDT)
Did you know…
Does the "Did you know…" section rotate on the Main Page or does it always just show those ones? Rolandius 05:07, 27 September 2011 (PDT)
- It only updates when there are new facts. It is not random. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Smurfton (talk) • (contribs) 01:31, 22 November 2011
- An admin rotates the section every so often. New facts can be added here. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 19:16, 21 November 2011 (PST)
Portal Wiki
Is Portal Wiki not in the Valve Wiki Network? It seems to have a section to itself. Rolandius 05:09, 27 September 2011 (PDT)
- Well it is called the Portal "Unoffical" Wiki. --CaptainSneaky 23:42, 12 October 2011 (PDT)
YouTube Channel
Shouldn't this link be worded as "YouTube channel"? Rolandius 22:41, 27 September 2011 (PDT)
Combine OverWiki
On the bottom of the page, it shows that Combine OverWiki = Half-Life/Portal. On the left bar, it shows that Combine OverWiki and Portal Wiki as two different wikis. Rolandius 05:10, 28 September 2011 (PDT)
- That's because they are two different wikis; you'd know that if you follow the links. The Portal Wiki is our sister wiki, and the Overwiki is part of the Valve Wiki Network hence its inclusion on the banner at the bottom of the page. i-ghost 05:20, 28 September 2011 (PDT)
- Meaning there are two Portal wikis, one official and one unofficial? Because that is how it is shown right now. Rolandius 05:46, 28 September 2011 (PDT)

Intro
I think that
"Welcome to the
Official Team Fortress Wiki
the official resource for the Team Fortress series."
should be changed to
"Welcome to
Team Fortress Wiki
the official resource for the Team Fortress series."
not only because the wiki's name is Team Fortress Wiki, but also due to the phrase being redundant. Rolandius 09:01, 28 September 2011 (PDT)
Captcha refresh button?
Sometimes the captchas are not readable, and i thought a refresh button like many filehosts have, would be nice. Hope this is the right area for that. TheDoctor(without a small pic) 04:34, 29 September 2011 (PDT)

Front Page Read + Discussion merged, new skin bug!?
Hi, I have a small resolution and the discussion button and the read button are merged. I can see the ead from read only and it looks weird. Picture of it: Click me . Hope someone can patch that out, i love the new design! TheDoctor(without a small pic) 05:24, 15 October 2011 (PDT)
- If you attempt to view it on a small resolution I think the only option is to make your webpage display smaller. If you're using a reasonably new computer with a three button mouse, hold Ctrl while scrolling down with the mousewheel. This should make the display smaller - scroll up to make it larger. I don't know how to fix it on non-Windows computers, though. Chaosshaun 07:29, 29 November 2011 (PST)
"The Demoman no longer tries to drink from a block of wood"
Under "Latest Updates", the statement "the Demoman no longer tries to drink from a block of wood" is rather incorrect, as the Pain Train's taunt was removed a while ago, in June. Additionally, now he tries to drink from the Conscientious Objector while taunting, making that statement quite confusing. —Rocket Ship BBQ talk • contribs 19:21, 19 October 2011 (PDT)
Adding misc items to the front page
There are a ton of these now. I suggest we just turn the Hats link into something like "Hats / Miscellaneous items. It'd be useful to be able to get to them from the front page. yyler (talk) 18:36, 21 October 2011 (PDT)
- Agree If there are enough misc items that they get their own page separate from hats then there are enough to be linked on the front page. Okrag 18:42, 21 October 2011 (PDT)
- Agree but should be named Cosmetic Items, which we should create a disambig for hats/misc. —Rocket Ship BBQ(•) 19:49, 21 October 2011 (PDT)
- I don't think Cosmetic is the proper word...this isn't the Barbie's Beauty Shop game. Miscellaneous items works just fine. Rockn-Roll
- Agree Probably best to wait until the merge/no merge discussion on the Hats page is finished though. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 10:32, 22 October 2011 (PDT)
- Agree Yea I think it's time to have a cosmetic page misc isn't as rare as it once was. @Rockn-roll Just to clarify cosmetic means appearance visualAmp32 11:53, 27 October 2011 (PDT)

MONOCULUS and Monoculus
Shouldn't Monoculus be capitalized as MONOCULUS in the trending topics section? Zabidenu 03:30, 30 October 2011 (PDT)
You changed it and not a single word of thanks? Even a small apperication... Zabidenu 14:01, 31 October 2011 (PDT)
- Shouldn't you be thanking Moussekateer? He did it. Don't go around looking for thanks for the work that you do. 14:28, 31 October 2011 (PDT)
- Isn't its name in-game "MONOCULUS!"? » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 05:48, 1 November 2011 (PDT)

Random Page Button
I use the Random Page button quite a bit, (I don't know why). The problem is when I click the button, it not only goes to a random page, but a random LANGUAGE too. It's not hard to take the suffix off the end of the URL and refresh, but its still kind of a pain. I was wondering if there was any way to change this? Sgt Hailfire 10:17, 3 November 2011 (PDT)
- This issue has been brought up before and if my memory serves me well, a fix for this has been sent to Valve. They haven't implemented it yet, though. -- Hefaistus - talk 10:24, 3 November 2011 (PDT)
Hebrew Language
May we add an hebrew language to the wiki. I know I will be able to translate a lot. Atlas 11:16, 3 November 2011 (PDT)
- Unfortunately the Wiki doesn't support Hebrew yet - take a look at this. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 13:16, 3 November 2011 (PDT)

Did You Know section...
I for one will not stand for this...
I'm always trying to share my knowledge of TF2 on the wiki when I'm not playing and always adding more Did You Know facts, but why are some idiots always posting random 'facts' on the topic. Some of the 'facts' are just common sense or pure obviousness; EVEN A PERSON WHO JUST STARTED PLAYING THIS GAME COULD MAKE A FACT BETTER THAN SOME EXISTING FACTS. So I'm saying, what to do? I'm a Force-A-Nature! 08:00, 5 November 2011 (PDT)
- First things first, CALM DOWN!
;-)
Ok, now, if there are any facts on the Did You Know page that you think are too obvious or not interesting, they can be removed. Nothing goes on the Main Page until it is approved by a moderator so you needn't worry about that. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 08:54, 5 November 2011 (PDT)- I actually hate the section since it takes what would be bad trivia on an article and makes it seem like appropriate wiki information. But that's just my opinion. Balladofwindfishes 08:56, 5 November 2011 (PDT)
- The section has several facts that even I didn't know, and I've been playing since 2007. Most of this info is on the items trivia page (i.e. Dead Ringer is not seen in third-person is on the Dead Ringer article). For the most part, it really just makes the front page look a LOT cleaner, and there isn't much that could replace it. BillyMays 15:55, 15 November 2011 (PST)
- There really has to have a vote on what facts though, and I think that they should be updated more regularly. —Rocket Ship BBQ(•) 18:05, 15 November 2011 (PST)
- There hasn't been any new facts in a while, maybe we can all get together and write some new ones. BillyMays 18:16, 15 November 2011 (PST)

Main Page Bug for non registered Users?
If i'm not logged in it says: last patch 5days ago, and when i login there stands the real last patch on the main page. Is this a bug in my explorer or how does this come? First i thought: Update canceled, can't be. Hope someone can tell me why this is so different. TheDoctor(without a small pic) 03:50, 17 November 2011 (PST)
- This is related to your browsers (or ISP's) cache of the page content. Try Shift- (or Ctrl-) refreshing the page to get the latest version. -- Pilk (talk) 03:54, 17 November 2011 (PST)
- Okay, thanks. Could this talk be removed or moved elsewhere? Because it is not very active because you solved the riddle. TheDoctor(without a small pic) 04:03, 17 November 2011 (PST)
- Since you started this you could probably just delete the entire section yourself, but leave this for posterity in the Archives. Though I don't know how many people refer to those before posting here. Chaosshaun 07:27, 29 November 2011 (PST)

Suggestion for new content on the Main Page
Would it be more interactive and interesting to have kind of a fortnightly poll or something on our front page, like favourite class, weapon, map, that kind of thing on our front page? It would allow the wiki to be just more than an information source. Chaosshaun 07:17, 29 November 2011 (PST)
- Maybe so, but polls take a lot of time and effort to implement and keep running. I think the front page looks just fine as it is; the admins are very good at keeping it up to date. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 08:12, 29 November 2011 (PST)
Current events on the Main Page
I think it would be cool to see the current events on the main page. The box "Latest Updates" could be renamed to "What's new" and there can by a third column (next to "latest patch", "latest blog post") that reads "current event: Australian Christmas". Additionally there is now space below the thin line, where it is possible to list "current restriction: Winter Holiday/Halloween/Full Moon/TF Birthday". BadKarMa 05:43, 19 December 2011 (PST)
- I like this idea other than the current restrictions panel. As TF2 expands, their could be to many to list easily. Unless, of course, you mean what restrictions are currently active (i.e. Full moon items can now be used). — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kajoman (talk) • (contribs) 01:04, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
December 19 Patch
There's already a page for the patch, but can someone add it to the latest patch thing? • RedXM T • C 16:18, 19 December 2011 (PST)
- It's already done, just ctrl-f5 the front page. —Moussekateer·talk 16:21, 19 December 2011 (PST)
Improvement page?
Should we have a page dedicated to improving pages that need it? Like maybe a page that has all the 'Stub' pages and so on, as to allow the community to home in onto a specific topic which needs improving. Just an idea
- That would be Category:Stubs, or perhaps more broadly Team Fortress Wiki:Tasks — Wind 18:16, 19 January 2012 (PST)

Counter?
What about adding a additional counter at the end of the Contributor lists (See Wiki Cap owners, Community item owners etc.)? Like the counter on the Updates since game released template. I tried to edit the template, but the date core on Template:Update errored a example i was going to show you. Anyway, I wanted to see if the idea could be accepted or rejected. Get rid of orphan translated disambiguation pages
A lot of disambiguation pages have been translated but are total orphans. This makes them hard to maintain and almost completely pointless because no one can get to them. Only the main version will come up when using the search box. For example, BB/de is the German version of BB. No one is going to type "BB/de" into the search field, they will type "BB" if anything. Since nothing links to that page, it should be removed. I propose that all translated disambiguation pages (like BB/de) be removed if they are not connected to real articles, like 119th_medals/de. The one downside is that all of these pages will show up as untranslated pages, but I think that's okay, since they already do show up that way on most languages. Another option we could modify the bots to omit disambiguation pages in that report.
It's a shame to lose all this translated material, and it would be nice if non-English visitors could get to those pages, but that's just not how the Go/Search functionality works on the wiki. Thoughts? – fashnek (talk·c) 09:45, 5 March 2012 (PST)
