The Axe (Crowbar in Team Fortress Classic) is a weapon in the classic Team Fortress games. It is a double-sided axe that serves as the melee weapon for classes that do not have a unique one. It is used by the Scout (Classic)\Scout, Sniper, Soldier, Demoman, Heavy, Pyro and the Quake Team Fortress Civilian. It has a very low range.

Damage

Low damage per swing.

Differences between Quake Team Fortress and Team Fortress Classic

In Team Fortress Classic, the Axe model is a Crowbar from Half-Life. However, it behave exactly the same as the Axe and it is called “axe” in the game files.
