This quality includes 6 forms of rarity: Civilian, Freelance, Mercenary, Commando, Assassin, and Elite. It also has a exterior quality, which ranges from Factory-New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred. The exterior quality decreases from the perfect Factory-New, to the extremely worn Battle-Scarred. When equipping a weapon of this quality, the player can press the key bound to (+inspect) to play an interruptible animation which examines the weapon from multiple angles (only visible in First Person). Rarity and exterior factors are purely cosmetic, and do not effect gameplay whatsoever.

Decorated weapons unboxed from weapon cases have a chance to be Strange, a rarer chance to be Unusual, and an extremely rare chance to be both. The Strange variant adds a clock to the side of the weapon, meant to count kills, and the Unusual variant adds an effect to the weapon, typically at the end of, or on the barrel of the weapon. When the item is both Strange and Unusual, both the clock and visual effects are included. Saxton Hale, in response to Miss Pauling when asked about new weapons for the mercenaries.

Decorated quality is the item quality assigned weapons which are obtained from contracts and opening weapon cases.

Gun Mettle Collections

All classes have at minimum one weapon per collection. Some classes have multiple weapons per collection.

The Teufort Weapon Collection is one of two weapon skin collections available from completing Contracts. It is collection of weapon skins with varying themes, but all centralized around Teufort.

The Craftsman Collection is the other of weapon two skin collections available from completing Contracts. It is a collections of skins focusing on a DIY-like project, having most guns painted in a way that makes them seem made from house-hold materials and/or fabrics. The team color variants mostly apply to materials with a plaid pattern.

The Concealed Killer Weapon Collection is one of two weapon skin collections only available through opening weapon cases. To obtain one weapon with this skin, you must unbox a Concealed Killer Weapons Case. This collection focuses on Military style camouflage skins of varying colors.

The Powerhouse Collection is the other of weapon two skin collections only available though opening weapon cases. To obtain a weapon with this skin, you must open a Powerhouse Weapons Case. The primary focus of this collection is bright patterns, resembling electricity and power stations. All skins are linked to the map Powerhouse.

All skin collections can be viewed on Part 1 of the Gun Mettle update. Link to the official page. Pictures located half-way down the aforementioned page.
