Let's get 'em!
The Scout with a bunch of claim checks

The Summer Claim Check is an action item. It is represented as a Mann Co. Shipping airport baggage claim ticket, with information stamped in red ink on the bottom values.

This item can be used in the backpack or in a loadout, which grants the user a random Summer 2013 Cooler, in either Red (#62), Orange (#63), Yellow (#64), Green (#65), Aqua (#66), Blue (#67), Brown (#68), or Black (#69).

Update history

July 10, 2013 Patch

  • Summer Claim Checks can now be redeemed for Summer Coolers.
  • [Undocumented] Changed the description of the Summer Claim Check.

July 24, 2013 Patch

  • The Summer Claim Check is now a rare drop.

Notes

  • The description was formerly: "At a later date, use this item to get a special crate."
  • The sound that plays upon using the Check is identical to that of a (non-robot) Crate opening.

Trivia

  • The item's backpack icon claims that the ticket is billed from Badlands, New Mexico, USA. The town of Teufort in the Badlands contains a jet airport.[1]
    • The stamped values on the ticket claim that the cargo it registers are of Unit #72, 1 Piece, Weight "86" (of unspecified unit of mass), and Check #"00 09 67".
      • The ticket's Unit number does not match any of the possible Summer Coolers' numbers.
