The Paint Bomb[1], or Water Balloon[2], is an experimental throwable weapon. The Paint Bomb would have played a hit, kill (both different from the default Hit and Kill Sounds), and "score" sound (when the score sound would be triggered is unknown).[3] The Paint Bomb could be charged, similar to the Huntsman, to deal extra damage ranging from a base damage of 20 to a maximum of 50 damage.[4] Its radius also increased from 32 Hammer units without charging, but increasd to 64 at full charge.[5]
Several icons and other textures indicate that the Paint Bomb would've drenched the victim in paint. A leftover kill icon is still present in the files. Some splash text[6] indicates that on a successful hit, a bit of text similar to the Mantreads's Stomp or the Loose Cannon's Double Donk would appear. The victim of a Paint Bomb would've likely had an icon on their HUD[7] indicating they had been hit by it and are now drenched in paint, similar to the HUD icon for Jarate. The Paint Bomb would likely also do bullet damage.[8] The Paint Bomb would've left colored decals on the world[9], similar to blood splatters.[10]
Several different variants of the Paint Bomb can be found, including a "grenade" version[11], a Balloonicorn version[12], as well as a "gold"[13] and a "color"[13] version of the grenade and Balloonicorn version, likely indicating that the Paint Bomb had different colors. A "Balloon Bag" icon[14] can also be found, with several different deflated water balloons inside it.
