Speed Pad

The Speed Pad is a scrapped Engineer building that was referenced in a modification to the tf/scripts/game_sounds_weapons.txt file in the December 8th, 2014 update (End of the Line Update). The following code was added to the file:
// ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ // // SPEEDPAD // ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ // "Building_Speedpad.Boost" { "channel" "CHAN_STATIC" "volume" "1.0" "soundlevel" "SNDLVL_74dB" "wave" ")weapons/speed_pad.wav" }
In November of 2019, a leaked "Staging" build of Team Fortress 2 from around the time of the Gun Mettle update was shown off on Twitch[1]. Within this staging build were many features that were to be part of the scrapped Spy vs Engineer WAR! update. Many features shown off were rudimentary in setup. The Speed Pad was one such feature that was shown off. The Speed Pad was a modified Teleporter that applied the Disciplinary Action's speed boost effect to teammates that stepped on the Speed Pad. In the end, the building, along with the entire Spy vs Engineer WAR! update was scrapped.
