Plot summary

The video opens with an outdoors shot of BLU's base. It is in the middle of the winter and the BLU Sniper is shown almost completely buried in the snow, and staring angrily. The BLU Soldier passes by, placing a "#2 Sniper" coffee mug next to Sniper, the smell managing to get Sniper to move a little.

Inside, the BLU are putting the final touches on the train in their base. Soldier and BLU Engineer is going over the plans one final time. Meanwhile BLU Heavy writing a taunting message on one of the boxcars and BLU Pyro having drawn a cartoonish scene on the following car. BLU Soldier does not think that Pyro's contribution is appropriate and chooses to remove the container with the painting from the car. Pyro puts it back onto the train when Soldier isn't looking.

They eventually launch the train. BLU Demoman setting the controls in the locomotive cab and blowing them up with some dynamite afterwards.

Cut to RED Sniper at a snowy outpost along with RED Scout. As Sniper goes in for a break, the ground starts shaking. As they go out to investigate, the train blitzes past them.

Meanwhile RED Heavy and RED Medic are playing chess. Heavy does not understand the rules, to Medic's frustration. Outside RED Spy delivers the message of the train to RED Soldier.

The Soldier takes a look at their base for where the train would hit. For some unexplained reason, the spot it would hit happens to be a wall of explosive barrels. RED's base is shown to be located next to a kitten store, an orphanage and a kitten orphanage. Soldier calls the team to action by sending up a signal flare into the sky.

RED Sniper and RED Scout chooses to intercept the train using Sniper's van to race along with the train. They are on a narrow cliff side and rocks are falling down upon them. Scout eventually makes it onto the train, while Sniper ends up balancing perilously at the edge of a tall cliff in his van. A boxcar on the train ends up uncoupled from the rest of the train as Scout boards it.

Back at RED's base, RED Spy, Medic and Heavy are discussing the news. Heavy tries to calm Medic down, but is rebuffed. He goes outside, looking at the tracks.

RED Scout investigates the cars on the train, first ending up checking the box that BLU Pyro painted. It's filled with rubber ducks. The next car is shown having a bomb. Scout attempts to disarm the bomb, find a keyhole behind a hatch. For some innate reason, there is a "Go Away" mat in front of the bomb. Scout checks underneath it and sure enough, the key to the bomb is there. Scout inserts the key into the bomb and after an excessive amount of shutters opening on the bomb, is presented with two buttons and a prompt "Disarm bomb?". The two buttons are both labeled YES, one green and one red. Scout presses the green one and successfully disarms the bomb. Scout is relived and is about to leave the train, but decides to take a closer look at the container he is in. As he flips the light switch, he reveals a whole pile of bombs in the back of the cargo box.

Meanwhile at RED base, the team is preparing for the inevitable. RED Heavy elects to block the train himself. As RED Medic sees this, he is very concerned and runs after him, managing to Übercharge him just in time. The locomotive hits Heavy and he is pushed backwards as the train derails, containers and cars flying into the sky and landing all over the place, one even striking RED's base. Scout jumps off the train and has to dodge flying debris, pushing Medic down just as a piece is about to hit them both. The bomb container ends up exploding in the air as it is hit by the container containing the ducks. However, none hit the inconveniently placed wall of explosive barrels.

When the coast seems to be clear, the uncoupled cart comes rolling down the track. It is shown that it is filled with anvils. Thus, the cart has no problem plowing through all the debris from the initial crash. It just barely stops before hitting the wall of barrels and a kitten. The team lets out a breath of relief as they see it narrowly stopping at the target.

RED Engineer is revealed to be the BLU Spy, and takes Medic hostage, pointing a knife at his throat. As he is holding up the RED team, Heavy arises behind him from out of the rubble. As Medic struggles, Spy finds that the barrel on his Revolver has been bent. As Spy looks in confusion he notices Heavy. Heavy promptly shoves him into the ground in a visibly uncomfortable position.

In BLU's base, as they are taking the results in, a train car arrives, scaring a cat, which promptly runs outside the base, being chased by BLU Pyro. As they investigate they find that it is full with charred rubber ducks, and a taped-up bomb. The bomb explodes, ruining the BLU base. BLU Pyro and the cat are unhurt.

Over in RED's base Soldier is taking stock of the damages, checking that an orphanage boy, an orphan cat, and some kittens are alright. Medic offers Heavy another go at chess. But before Heavy has time to make a move, Medic angrily flips the chess table.

The video ends with a shot of RED Sniper, still stuck in his van, noticing a flock of pigeons carrying a bomb, flying towards RED base.

Notes

  • Two major flaws is shown in the film. Firstly, no one is in the cab to disengage the dead man's brake which should have stopped the train early on. Also, RED Scout manages to uncouple a car from the train. Assuming the train was fitted with Westinghouse Air Brakes, a break in the air hoses would have been made, which would let air out of the system. This should have stopped, if not slowed down, the train and the uncoupled boxcar.
    • The dead man's brake may not have stopped the train if the locomotive was fitted with an electric version of it that could have been blown up by the BLU Demoman at the beginning.
  • At 0:46, plans for a "Stealth Pigeon Bomb" are seen on the table. Despite being labeled as "failed", it's still seen in the end of the video.
  • At 2:22, when the BLU Soldier lights his cigar, it already has ashes on it.
  • The wall of explosive barrels in the RED base is strangely set up so it resembles a target.
  • Several of the cosmetic items seen in the video were released in the update. However, the coat worn by the BLU Soldier and the RED Pyro's Diving Mask and Rubber Floaties, weren't included in the update.
  • The bomb key under the "Go Away" mat is likely a reference to some people leaving their house keys under their "Welcome" mats.
