The basic Heavy Robot, manufactured by Gray Mann. These robots are similar to the normal Heavy: big, tough, and packing a punch. The regular Heavy robot wields a Minigun, ripping to shreds anyone who dares to come too close. The Heavy robot often comes in small to medium sized waves, whose deadliness is dependent on their numbers and their skill level. Yellow-eyed Heavy robots that appear in higher difficulties have a higher skill level than blue-eyed robots, which is a good indicator on how effective a Heavy robot horde is against faster moving targets, such as Scouts. Attack them at longer ranges where their Minigun will be inaccurate and suffer from damage fall-off.

The regular Heavy wields a Minigun, ripping anyone who dares to come too close to shreds. The Heavy robot often comes in small to medium sized waves, often accompanying other robots as support. They appear to have a delayed sense of enemy tracking, meaning that they will find it hard to hit a player dodging at close range.

This advanced variation of the Heavy robot is critboosted and deals 50% more damage much like Giant Heavies. These Heavy-bots appear near the end of wave 3 in Broken Parts along with pocket Über Medics.

 +
The Deflector Heavy functions similarly to the regular Heavy robot, with the added benefit of being able to shoot down incoming projectiles that are in flight. It is discernible from the regular Heavy robot by its U-clank-a and green tracer firing effect rather than the usual yellow/orange. These robots are not found in the game's template files and only appear in the Expert Mannworks mission, Mannslaughter, on multiple waves.

 +
This version of the Heavy robot wields a Shotgun that has faster reload speed and more pellets per shot. However, it does less damage and fires much slower. They usually travel in groups to compensate for the damage and firing speed penalty, which makes them still all the more dangerous up close, but not as strong as the normal Heavy robot.

The Heavyweight Champ is a pure melee variant of the Heavy robot, wearing the Pugilist's Protector. Although restricted to melee range, these robots often come in gigantic numbers. The Heavyweight Champ comes in two different types. The first type will wield the Killing Gloves of Boxing. These types are aggressive and, if not carrying the bomb, will seek out nearby players to punch and kill, gaining a crit-boost from their K.G.B. upon killing a player. The second variant wields the Gloves of Running Urgently, allowing them to move faster but receive Mini-Crits; these robots will often ignore players entirely and make a beeline for the bomb instead.

The second variant wields the Gloves of Running Urgently, but without the changes made in the Jungle Inferno Update Patch, so they are permanently marked for death instead of losing max health over time. Their slow speed usually means they do not pose a threat most of the time, and can be easily put down before they enter melee range.

The Steel Gauntlet is similar to the Heavyweight Champ in the fact that it is a pure melee variant; however, the Steel Gauntlet can take an incredible amount of damage from ranged weapons due to its Fists of Steel and increased HP. They often appear in large waves and are sometimes assisted by other types of robots. The Steel Gauntlet often does not pose a threat to the players directly but instead by being a potent and resilient bomb carrier. Using melee weapons can make short work of Steel Gauntlets as they take double damage from melee sources, though the player will have to be very careful not to let the robots mob them.

The Steel Gauntlet is similar to the Heavyweight Champ in the fact that it is a pure melee variant; however, the Steel Gauntlet can take an incredible amount of damage from ranged weapons due to its Fists of Steel and increased health pool, having an effective HP of 1260. If left alone while carrying the bomb, it becomes a slow but durable bomb carrier due to the level 1 bomb resistance upgrade and the level 2 regeneration upgrade. If distracted or able to dodge their punches, defenders may use their melee weapons to take them down quickly.
 +

 +
In higher difficulties where there are less credits available, Steel Gauntlets become difficult to burst down since damage upgrades for weapons may not be purchased until later on. This lets melee-oriented classes like a Spy or a Demoknight shine in these situations due to the increased melee damage taken when wielding the Fists of Steel; these robots are not classified as giants, so a single backstab is enough to instantly kill a Steel Gauntlet.

The Steel Gauntlet Pusher is a Steel Gauntlet that deals more damage. It also possesses the ability to deal knockback against players upon a successful hit. Because of this, hitting it with a melee weapon becomes a much harder task. Otherwise, they are identical.

The Heavy Mittens is another pure melee variant which possess increased speed and wields a permanent crit-boosted Holiday Punch. Spawning in small groups, they are unable to deal any damage, however any hit from them will force players to stand still and laugh, making them easier targets for other robots. They have been known to "Mob" players by ganging up on them, or to hang around a single laughing player and stun lock him. As such, it is advised to get rid of them before they get in melee range. Having only 20% of a typical Heavy robot's HP, they are fairly easy to destroy.

It is advised to get rid of them before they get in melee range. Having only 20% of a typical Heavy robot's HP, they are fairly easy to destroy. They only appear during certain waves of Data Demolition (Operation Steel Trap, Decoy).

Unlike its regular counterparts, Giant Heavy robots do not get slowed down when revving up their primary weapons. As a tradeoff, most Giant Heavy robots have a limited sight range, allowing long ranged classes to engage them at a safe distance without facing retaliation.

While lacking the regular Giant Heavy's high-powered Minigun, this robot has no maximum sight distance and is impossible to approach without bursting into flames.

 +
The Giant Heal-on-Kill Deflector Heavy not only has an improved projectile deflection ability compared to Giant Deflector Heavies, but it also has an added ability to restore 5000 HP upon any successful kill. As a result of the heal-on-kill attribute, this Giant robot has its health bar displayed on the HUD. Due to its level 2 Deflect Projectiles ability, Soldier and Demomen projectiles will be constantly shot down if firing in front of this Giant robot, so it is advised to attack them on the sides or from the back. Hiding behind a Medic's Projectile Shield is also a viable choice, especially for slower classes like the Heavy. If severely injured, quickly run away to prevent the robot from restoring health or kill yourself to deny the healing if no cover is nearby.

 +
This variant of the Giant Heal-on-Kill Heavy has a serious programming error. They are meant to wield the Deflector that has the stats listed above, however the item has not been set in the template files, causing the robot to use the Minigun with default attributes. In addition, its health bar is not displayed on screen since it was not given this attribute. As a result, it is simply a Crit boosted Giant Heavy without the 50% damage bonus.

This Gatebot variant of the Giant Heater Heavy has the same stats as the one mentioned before, except it deals 20% more damage before all gates are captured in Mannhattan, making it more versatile than the previous type when capturing gates.

 +
The Giant Shotgun is the fastest Giant Heavy, trading constant damage output from the Minigun in favor of burst damage and movement speed. Similar to its smaller counterpart, it wields a Shotgun and has the exact same bonuses and weaknesses as the regular Shotgun Heavy. However, it fires a lot more pellets per shot, allowing it to burst down defenders in a single shot at point-blank range, including Heavies. Although it has been given an attribute to deflect projectiles, the attribute is not programmed to work with the Shotgun.

Heavy Boss Robots possess significantly more health, firepower, and a larger size than regular Giants, but less movement speed. Similar to Tanks, their health bars are displayed on the HUD. In addition, Boss Robots have extra knockback resistance and weapon bars, like the Soldier's banners or the Pyro's Phlogistinator, fill up slower.

 +
This boss robot is a superior version of the Giant Heal-on-Kill Deflector Heavy, and appears as the boss of the final wave of Empire Escalation on the map Mannhattan. Its appearance is accompanied with a group of Concheror Soldiers along with 4 Force-A-Nature Gatebot Super Scouts on the top floor 42 seconds after it is deployed. If it gets constant kills it can walk and capture both gates all by itself. Heavily injured defenders must attempt to avoid it, stay out of range, or simply use Uber Canteens if forced to. In desperate situations, suiciding is sometimes a better option than allowing it to gain health. A Medic’s Projectile Shield can help to protect injured defenders and buy them time to get to a source of health. The defenders must not focus all their attention on the Heavy robot however, it provides the perfect distraction for the Extended Concheror Soldiers to slip by and deliver the bomb. Note: This robot's in-game name is only Giant Heal-On-Kill Heavy.

This juggernaut of a Heavy is a walking tank with fists. Its extremely large health pool, combined with regeneration and innate ranged damage resistance from the Fists of Steel means it will take a lot of firepower to destroy it. Don't get too close, as it will surely kill any class nearby in one hit. A Spy can pull off several backstabs (make sure you have fully upgraded the Armor Penetration upgrade) before being attacked. The Dead Ringer can solve that particular problem.
+
Serving as the final boss of the the advanced mission Bone Shaker on the map Bigrock, this boss robot has an extremely large health pool of 60,000 HP. Combined with regeneration and innate ranged damage resistance from the Fists of Steel makes this behemoth the toughest robot in the entire game. With a punching power of 325 HP per hit, it is capable of killing any class in a single, deadly blow. It is supported by a constant flow of Snipers and Spies. Melee fighting this bot carries high risk but high reward for melee-oriented classes. For instance, a Demoknight with max damage plus Crits and ÜberCharge is capable of dealing a lot of damage, since a fully upgraded Critical hit from most of Demoman's melee weapons deals 780 damage when fully upgraded. A Spy is also a great option because backstabs deal double damage to this robot and the Dead Ringer negates at least one hit.

Heavy Robots appear in Mann vs. Machine as enemies.

Normal Variants

Heavy

Minigun

This advanced variation of the Heavy robot is critboosted and deals 50% more damage much like Giant Heavies. These Heavy-bots appear near the end of wave 3 in Broken Parts along with pocket Über Medics.

Pictogram minus.png Cannot see past 1200 units

The Deflector Heavy functions similarly to the regular Heavy robot, with the added benefit of being able to shoot down incoming projectiles that are in flight. It is discernible from the regular Heavy robot by its U-clank-a and green tracer firing effect rather than the usual yellow/orange. These robots are not found in the game's template files and only appear in the Expert Mannworks mission, Mannslaughter, on multiple waves.

Pictogram plus.png +90% faster reload
Pictogram plus.png +200% more pellets per shot
Pictogram minus.png -67% damage dealt
Pictogram minus.png -150% slower firing speed

This version of the Heavy robot wields a Shotgun that has faster reload speed and more pellets per shot. However, it does less damage and fires much slower. They usually travel in groups to compensate for the damage and firing speed penalty, which makes them still all the more dangerous up close, but not as strong as the normal Heavy robot.

The Heavyweight Champ is a pure melee variant of the Heavy robot, wearing the Pugilist's Protector. Although restricted to melee range, these robots often come in large numbers. The Heavyweight Champ comes in two different types. The first type wields the Killing Gloves of Boxing. These types are aggressive and, if not carrying the bomb, will seek out nearby players to punch and kill, gaining a Crit-boost from their K.G.B. upon killing a player. The second variant wields the Gloves of Running Urgently, but without the changes made in the Jungle Inferno Update Patch, so they are permanently marked for death instead of losing max health over time. Their slow speed usually means they do not pose a threat most of the time, and can be easily put down before they enter melee range.

Steel Gauntlet

Pictogram plus.png 900 HP

The Steel Gauntlet is similar to the Heavyweight Champ in the fact that it is a pure melee variant; however, the Steel Gauntlet can take an incredible amount of damage from ranged weapons due to its Fists of Steel and increased health pool, having an effective HP of 1260. If left alone while carrying the bomb, it becomes a slow but durable bomb carrier due to the level 1 bomb resistance upgrade and the level 2 regeneration upgrade. If distracted or able to dodge their punches, defenders may use their melee weapons to take them down quickly.

Heavy Mittens

Pictogram plus.png +30% faster movement speed
Pictogram minus.png 60 HP

The rare Heavy Mittens is another pure melee variant which possess increased speed and wields a permanent Crit-boosted Holiday Punch. Spawning in small groups, they are unable to deal any damage, however any hit from them will force players to stand still and laugh, making them easier targets for other robots. It is advised to get rid of them before they get in melee range. The 80% damage penalty they possess causes this Heavy robot variant unable to instantly kill players without maximum health reduction and on full health with their taunt kills as their taunt kill only deals 100 damage. Having only 20% of a typical Heavy robot's HP, they are fairly easy to destroy. They only appear during certain waves of Data Demolition (Operation Steel Trap, Decoy).

Giant Variants

Unlike its regular counterparts, Giant Heavy robots do not get slowed down when revving up their primary weapons. As a tradeoff, most Giant Heavy robots have a limited sight range, allowing long ranged classes to engage them at a safe distance without facing retaliation.

The Giant Heavy is a Giant version of the regular Heavy Robot. It wields an overclocked Minigun that does 50% more damage. The Giant Heavy has increased aim tracking compared to the regular Heavy robot and is occasionally accompanied by Medic Robots.

The Giant Deflector Heavy has all of the added benefits and negatives of the Giant Heavy, as well as the ability of its smaller counterpart to shoot down incoming projectiles. Like the Deflector Heavy, it can be identified by its U-clank-a and green tracer firing effect.

In Broken Parts and Caliginous Caper, Giant Deflector Heavies wear a Point and Shoot.

Pictogram plus.png Destroy Projectiles upgrade is level 2
Pictogram minus.png -60% movement speed
Pictogram minus.png Cannot see past 1600 units

Despite what the icon shows, this variant is not Crit boosted.

Pictogram plus.png Destroy Projectiles upgrade is level 2
Pictogram minus.png -65% movement speed
Pictogram minus.png Cannot see past 1200 units

This variant of the Giant Heal-on-Kill Heavy has a serious programming error. They are meant to wield the Deflector that has the stats listed above, however the item has not been set in the template files, causing the robot to use the Minigun with default attributes. In addition, its health bar is not displayed on screen since it was not given this attribute. As a result, it is simply a Crit boosted Giant Heavy without the 50% damage bonus.

While being the weakest Giant Heavy due to its reduced firepower, this robot has no maximum sight distance and is impossible to approach without bursting into flames or being gunned down.

This Gatebot variant of the Giant Heater Heavy has the same stats as the one mentioned before, except it deals 20% more damage before all gates are captured in Mannhattan, making it more versatile than the previous type when capturing gates.

Giant Shotgun Heavy

Pictogram minus.png -50% damage dealt
Pictogram minus.png -150% slower firing speed
Pictogram minus.png -30% movement speed

The Giant Shotgun is the fastest Giant Heavy, trading constant damage output from the Minigun in favor of burst damage and movement speed. Similar to its smaller counterpart, it wields a Shotgun and has the exact same bonuses and weaknesses as the regular Shotgun Heavy. However, it fires a lot more pellets per shot, allowing it to burst down defenders in a single shot at point-blank range, including Heavies. Although it has been given an attribute to deflect projectiles, the attribute is not programmed to work with the Shotgun.

Bosses

Heavy Boss Robots possess significantly more health, firepower, and a larger size than regular Giants, but less movement speed. Similar to Tanks, their health bars are displayed on the HUD. In addition, Boss Robots have extra knockback resistance and weapon bars, like the Soldier's banners or the Pyro's Phlogistinator, fill up slower.

Bugs

 • The non-gatebot version of the Shotgun Heavy robot is named Heavy Shotgun.
 • The Giant Heater Heavy is not given a custom name in the template files, so it uses the default "Heavyweapons" name.

Unused content

 • The GRU Heavyweight Champ has a second, unused icon that was present in the game's files since the Mann vs. Machine mode launched.
 • The K.G.B. Heavyweight Champ originally had a RED fist icon similar to the GRU Heavyweight Champ's, but it was later changed to BLU.
 • The Steel Gauntlet has a disabled defunct attribute applied to it named DefensiveBuffHigh, which according to the pop file from the map Example, causes the affected robot to take 90% less damage and have a particle effect surrounding it. This attribute, according to developer comments would have replaced the Steel Gauntlet's high health.
 • Disabled code for the Heavy Mittens indicate the robot was to be 35% smaller and have the Point and Shoot and All-Father equipped, causing it to resemble a garden gnome; the code name for the Heavy Mittens is actually T_TFBot_Heavyweapons_Gnome.
 • Three unused variants of the Giant Heavy exist:

Pictogram minus.png -50% move speed

The Heavyweight Champ robot in its giant form. As it shares the same movement speed penalty as the other giant Heavies, its threat level is limited as long as the defenders stay out of its range.

 • There is an unused Deflector Heavy icon for a pusher Heavy, which suggests there were to be Minigun Heavies that knocked back players with each hit.
 • There is an unused non-gatebot version of the Chief Heal-on-Kill Heavy that exists in the template files.
 • Giant Heavies originally would have made a unique sound when they spawned in (named giant_heavy_entrance.wav in the game files).
 • Similar to other giants (except giant Medics), Giant Heavies have unused footstep sounds unique to them (named giant_heavy_step01-04.wav).
 • Giant Heavies have an unique Minigun taunt animation. This is never seen due to the fact that giant robots can never taunt.
 • Giant Heavies that wield melee weapons have an unused fully functional animation for Crit-boosted punches. They will spin their entire torso around with a full 360° while also swinging their fists.
 • Giant Heavies have an unused kill animation (named primary_death_01), which features them slumping over and twitching for a short time, before falling down and/or exploding.
