Team Fortress 2 Closed Beta was a version of Team Fortress 2 that included experimental weapons and features that were privately tested by competitive players in 2009. These weapons are not necessarily destined to appear in future versions of Team Fortress 2, nor does their presence reflect the consensus or desires of beta participants.
On December 2, 2010, Team Fortress 2 Beta was made available to all Team Fortress 2 owners, with the intent of testing new weapon variants and large-scale features without affecting gameplay in the official game.

1 This version of the G.R.U. was added to the normal game during the Mann-Conomy Update, making it the only closed beta weapon to be implemented to date.
2 The idea for this weapon seemingly evolved into the Gunslinger, which builds a non-upgradable Combat Mini-Sentry at 4x the normal speed without wrenching. The Jag is also very similar to this except it only builds 30% faster while wrenching, and can still upgrade buildings.
3 This weapon has the same concept as the scrapped predecessor to the Kritzkrieg, the Overhealer.
