The Heavy on Gorge having five control points

5Gorge is a standard Control Point map introduced in the January 19, 2011 Patch. Unlike the original Attack/Defend version of the map, the factory is expanded and layout mirrored, with a small platform added to elevate the central capture point. Additional capture points are added to the yards at each end of the map.

Locations

Note: If you are having trouble with finding the locations listed here, see the Helpful overview section to see their exact position marked on the map.

Control point 3

  • Middle Building: The middle capture point is located inside a huge building covering the entire middle of the map that connects the second and fourth control points.
  • Main Hallway: The Main Hallway is the long hallway connected to the right entrance, the one nearest to the Bridge. It runs from the entrance to the Lobby through the Main Building. It is connected to the Flank Hallway and has a set of stairs at the end that leads up to platforms above the hallway and the Lobby.
  • Flank Hallway: The Flank Hallway runs through the Main Building starting at the left-most entrance, going perpendicular to the Main Hallway. It connects to the the Main Hallway near its entrance and is also connected to the Maintenance Area. There is a staircase at its far end that leads to the Second Floor.
  • Second Floor: The Second Floor runs all the way through the Flank and Main Hallways, and Lobby. It is accessible from a set of stairs at the end of the Main Hallway and a set at the end of the Flank Hallway. From the flank, it leads to a drop-down to the Lobby.
  • Lobby The Lobby is the room before the third control point, separated from it by a large doorway. Above the barrels lining the wall is the Second Floor's balcony. There are six entrances/exits: one from the Main hallway, one above that from the Second Floor, two from the Second Floor flank, and two passages connecting it to the Main.
  • Main: This is the center of the Middle Building. It is a large, square room with many catwalks and elevations. The middle point is located on a platform above the Pit.
  • Pit: Below the third point is a sunken area with two stairways leading to it. It contains a large health and ammo pack.
  • Upper Ring: Each team has access to the Upper Ring, which runs along all four walls of the main room. In each corner, and at each team's access point, there are small rooms overlooking the point.
  • Cover: At each team's main entrance, there are large metal sheets on each side of the bridge to the middle. These provide cover from enemies entering through their main entrance.

Control points 2 & 4

  • Bridge: The second/fourth control points are located on a bridge that passes over the Gully. The layout of this area is the same as the first capture point in Gorge. There are two entrances from the attacker's side — one from the Main Hallway and one from the Flank Hallway — and one from the Checkpoint Building.
  • Gully: The Gully runs through the entire control point area, from wall to wall and under the Bridge. There is a medium health pack underneath the Bridge in the Gully. The defender's side of the Gully generally slopes to the water while the attackers side has some defensive walls that block classes that cannot blast jump.
  • Side Bridge: To the far side of this area, there is a raised walkway that leads directly to the Flank Hallway on one side and the side of the Checkpoint Building on the other.
  • Maintenance Area: Located in-between the Flank Hallway's entrance and the Side Bridge is a small area with a medium health and ammo pack. Behind the shutter is the third spawn once the team captures the opponent's second point.

Control points 1 & 5

  • Entrance Yard: The final capture points are located on a flat area, identical to its counterpart on Gorge, right outside the defending team's first spawn.
  • Checkpoint Building: The Checkpoint Building is the large building separating the 1st/5th control point from the 2nd/4th control point. There are 3 entrances into the Entrance Yard from the previous control point that pass through this building. One entrance from the Upper Deck, another from the opposite end of the Upper Deck near the Shack, and one in-between the two other entrances from the main interior of the Checkpoint Building.
    • Second Spawn: After a team captures the middle point, their spawn is moved to a room on top of the Checkpoint Building.
  • Upper Deck: On the Checkpoint Building's side is a room overlooking the first/fifth control point, which houses a medium health kit and a large ammo pack. The room is accessed by a staircase inside it, which leads out to one side of the Gully. Attached to this room is a catwalk which houses a room in the middle and leads to a staircase back down to the ground. Inside the room in the middle of the catwalk is also a large ammo pack.
  • Shack: Directly next to the point is a small building which houses a medium health kit and a large ammo pack. There is also a ramp leaning against it that gives access to the roof, which overlooks the point itself.
  • Crates: Behind the point are a series of stacked containers. These offer a height advantage over the control point itself and the lowest ledge can be accessed by all classes. The higher area, however, requires a higher jump. There is a small health kit on top of the highest container. Crates and barrels are stacked around the whole Entrance Yard, providing both cover and a small height advantage.
  • First Spawn: The initial spawn at the beginning of the round for both teams is located inside the cliff behind the 1st/5th point. There are three spawn exits, all of which are are located to the side of the point. Two are located on the same side of the point and are slightly lower down than the Entrance Yard the point is on. The third exist leads behind the Shack and Crates.
