Bayou is a single-staged Attack/Defend Capture the Flag map. It is set within an abandoned swamp town fell into ruin where BLU is tasked with delivering the Intelligence to 4 control points to launch a rocket. The pickup location of the intelligence starts at the ship and only begins moving to the next point once the caves are captured.

The map was created as an entry for the TF2Maps.net A/D CTF and Payload Race Contest and was submitted in its Beta 1 (renamed to _c for Contest Entry) build. The map won 7th place in the contest with a score of 2.79 out of 5 points. The setup timer is 1 minute and 10 seconds.

Locations

Ship

  • Riverboat:A steam-powered river boat serving as BLU's first spawn and the starting place for the Intelligence briefcase. The Spawn room has a single resupply cabinet and is located in the lower back end of the boat. It has two floors, both having two exits on either end of the boat
  • Pier:The grounds outside of the riverboat, a series of wooden walkways on top of swampy ground. In the center the Freeman Airboat Tours building with a medium ammo and small health pickup. On a raised part of the left walkway there is a small ammo pickup. Under the crawlspace of the tavern there is a set of medium health and ammo pickups.
  • Storage Flank: A flank route to the upper floor of the Tavern storing farm equipment and a set medium health and ammo pickups on its upper part. There is a gated door on the right that opens once Point A is captured.

Tavern

Pictogram comment.png The following locations are described from the BLU perspective.

  • Point A: A large open tavern building with the first capture point in the center of the bottom floor. On the second floor there is a set medium health and ammo pickups. There is a large tunnel that leads from RED Spawn to the first floor of the building, once Point A is captured it closes. Point A becomes the Intelligence briefcase spawn location once Point B is captured.
  • Distillery Spawn:The backroom of the tavern containing large fermentation tanks serving as BLU's Spawn once Point B is captured. It holds one resupply cabinet next to the area players spawn. There are three exits, one on either floor of the tavern and one leading directly to the Drained Wharf.
  • Drained Wharf: The open-air grounds between the Tavern and Caves, there are three layers to this area with a path leading down and up, one flat path taking
  • Cave Flank: A short flank route to Point B running through a cave. There are a set of medium health and ammo pickups and a large health pickup along this path.

Caves

  • Point B: A two-story building lined with technological equipment that holds Point B. On the first floor under the staircase is a set of medium health and ammo pickups with a descending exit to the Forecourt. On the second floor is the control point along with a small health and large ammo pickup. Each floor has an exit from the tunnel from RED spawn. Once Point B is captured, its pedestal is lowered to the first floor and becomes the Intelligence briefcase spawn location once Point C is captured. Additionally, the two RED tunnel exits close.
  • Cave Spawn: A spawn room within a cave with one resupply cabinet. It has two exits, the left an exit to the Forecourt and the right leading to the first floor of the Caves building.
  • Forecourt: The open-air grounds between the Caves and Mansion, a concrete base leading to the lower floor of the Mansion Interior and to the Hoop Room.

Mansion

  • Hoop Room: Another equipment storage room with a small basketball hoop inside. On the lower part of this room is a set of medium health and ammo pickups. The upper floor has an open window alligned with an open window of the mansion, allowing players to enter directly into its center. There is additionally an entrance from the Bog, allowing RED players easy access to this room.
  • Point C: The insides of the flooded mansion. The first floor entered by the forecourt entrance has a wrecked kitchen and dining room with a medium health pickup. It leads into the foyer of this mansion. The second floor is a relatively open air leading to Point C and Bog, several types of health and ammo pickups present on this floor.

Docks

  • Bog: The open-air grounds between the Mansion and Docks, there is a small ammo pickup at the exit of the mansion. To the far left is the entrance to RED's tunnels and exterior of RED spawn.
  • Dock Companies: The large building just before Point D occupied by Wade Canoes and Bayou Shipping. The ground floor has two sets of medium health and ammo pickups near the check-in of Wade Canoes and mansion adjacent side of the building. On the upper floor has two sets of medium health and ammo pickups on the mansion adjacent end of the building and center.
  • RED Spawn: RED's Spawn room throughout the round, the backrooms of the Dock Companies building. It has two exits and an upper floor exit.
