Hit the road, bozo! Let a real Scout get to work!
The Scout on removing the Scout-like Madcap

The Madcap is a fast, aggressive, dangerous brute. His speed is only surpassed by that of the Scout, and until the January 13, 2010 update, the Madcap had a "chase" ability that let him move faster for dealing damage (up to 145% for dealing 75 damage) and drained over time. Armed with his Nail Gun, Nail Grenade or Grease Gun, and Boston Basher predecessor (referred to as the Mega Bat), he can overwhelm almost any other class at short range, though getting into short range was his largest issue.

The Madcap was removed in the February 3, 2011 patch for multiple reasons. Upon release, his "chase" ability had issues with lasting to long if the target died due to outside factors and had to be patched multiple times upon release. Eventually, this was scrapped in favor of a Grease Gun that replaced his Nail Grenade and slowed down enemies that it hit. However, this iteration was deemed frustrating to both use and fight, leading to the ultimate removal of the class.

The Madcap's voice actor is unknown.

Bio

Name: Matt
Location of origin: Unknown
Job: Assault and Battery, released in September 2006.
Motto: "Let's tear their heads apart."
Special ability: Chasing
Emblems: 50px  50px
Description: Matt, better known as the Madcap, was born in the city but grew up in the country. Like his estranged uncle, he's a scrappy fighter, but he got luckier in terms of muscle mass. In an isolated cabin in isolated Wyoming, he learned to use nails and bats to harass those who got on his wrong side. He also made a little something special for those who try to run away.

Basic strategy

  • Use your Nail Gun at a range to make it easier to get in close!
  • Patrol flanks and take out whoever you find with your Mega Bat.
  • Using your ranged options makes it much easier to get in close.
  • Don't rely on your Nail Gun too much; its damage is easily outclassed by your Mega Bat.
  • Use cover! Make sure the enemy doesn't know you're coming.
  • Press E to call for a Medic if you get hurt. Nearby Medics will be notified of your need.
