The Rescue Ranger is a primary weapon for the Engineer. It resembles a normal Shotgun, but has a small monitor attached to the back and a team-colored cable running from the monitor to the modified muzzle, where a team-colored laser-sight is visible.

Holding the Rescue Ranger gives Engineers the ability to haul their buildings from long range (provided a direct line of sight) at the expense of 130 Metal. Hauling a building in this way will immediately teleport the building into the Engineer's possession. Hauling a building, whether with the gun or just normally, will mark the Engineer for death, causing him to take mini-crits, up to three seconds after re-deploying the building. The Engineer will still be marked if he switches to his secondary or melee weapon prior to picking up a building. The weapon also fires bolts instead of bullets, which can repair friendly buildings that they are fired at. However these abilities come at the cost of ammo; the weapon can only load 4 shots and carry 16 in reserve.

The Rescue Ranger was originally contributed to the Steam Workshop under the name "Modified Shotgun".
