Screamin' Eagles!
The Soldier on what noise is made when an eagle elevates its voice

The Chieftain's Challenge is an unlockable headwear item for the Soldier. It is a classic stereotypical Native American headdress, worn by chiefs from the early 1850s to the late 1910s.

Notes (about in game features)

  • This hat is also obtainable from an opened Mann Co. Supply Crate. It can be found, with some luck, within Series #2 Crates.
  • When a Soldier equipped with the Chieftain's Challenge is ÜberCharged, the back of the feather headdress becomes transparent. This transparency is a not-yet fixed bug .

Trivia

  • A traditional headdress of Native Americans was made from eagle feathers. Feathers could be earned though different deeds done in war.
  • Following the theme of the Tyrant's Helm and Killer's Kabuto, this headgear is worn by those known to be legendary and ruthless champions of battle in history and in myth. Perhaps the Soldier identifies with these tribes of warriors and chooses to mimic their well recognized headgear.
  • When the Mann-Conomy update was first shipped, the Chieftain's Challenge name was misspelled as "Chieftan's Challenge". This was fixed in a patch shipped on October 6th, 2010.
