This shoulder-mounted feathered friend comes in any color you like, and is so full of whiskey it couldn't fly off if it wanted to. Great to have around if you decide to eat it—just turn your head and bite!
The Bird-Man of Aberdeen has three unique styles. The second style, "Distinguished", colors the bird white, resembling a cockatoo, while "Imbued", the third style, changes the belly feathers to a dull green. When painted, "Distinguished" bleeds the entire bird the same color, aside from the tail- and head-feathers, and "Imbued" colors the belly feathers duller than that of the rest of the bird's feathers.
When players equipped with this item kill an enemy unassisted by another player, the killfeed shows everyone in Pyroland that it gets the assist, with its custom name if it has one.
The string for the level description is missing, so the level for this item does not show up in-game or on the Steam Community backpack viewer.
The level is still transmitted over the Steam Web API, so most third-party backpack viewers still show the level. Backpack viewers that show the name alongside the level label it with its schema item type name, TF_Wearable_Animal.
The item's name is a reference to Robert Stroud, a federal prisoner whose work with birds during imprisonment earned him the nickname "Birdman of Alcatraz", despite not being allowed to keep pets during his incarceration at Alcatraz itself.
The name also references Aberdeen, a city in northern Scotland.
