The Heavy on law enforcement

The Security Shades are a community-created cosmetic item for the Heavy. They are a pair of team-colored sunglasses with a gray frame.

Update history

July 1, 2011 Patch #1 (Summer Camp Sale)

  • [Undocumented] The Security Shades were added to the game.

July 12, 2011 [Item schema update]

  • The Security Shades can now be used in crafting.

July 18, 2011 Patch

  • The Security Shades can now be crafted.

September 26, 2022 Patch

  • [Undocumented] The Security Shades changed equip region to whole head.

Unused content

  • The model has a third skin that makes the sunglasses black, to match the Lawless style of the Copper's Hard Top.

Trivia

  • The Security Shades and the Copper's Hard Top were created and submitted alongside one another.[1] They were intended to be a single item but were separated into two by Valve.[2]
    • In result of this, the Security Shades uses the same texture file from Copper's Hard Top, with the Peacekeeper style, differing the color of the shades on each team.
