Gun Mettle Update
“ | Your tireless fixer is under fire from the Administrator to keep the body count up, and she needs two things. 1) Executing black-bag kill-contracts and 2) landing the contracts by drafting and submitting detailed preliminary supplier-side bundled service proposals. Since you're a dangerous murderer who probably reads at a third grade level, we have a pretty good idea which one you can help her with.

The Gun Mettle Update was a major update for Team Fortress 2, released during the July 2, 2015 Patch, that introduced weapon skins, 4 new maps, and 3 new taunts. It also introduced the ability to pick up weapons from the ground from fallen players, as well the Gun Mettle Campaign, a three-month event allowing players to complete skill-based contract challenges to unlock one-of-a-kind weapons and exclusive weapon cases. To participate in the Gun Mettle Campaign, players had to obtain the Gun Mettle Campaign Pass, which was available for purchase in the Mann Co. Store.
Additional content was further added in the August 27, 2015 Patch with the introduction of the Gun Mettle Cosmetic Case.

Trivia
- An unused community-made weapon, the Afterburner, can be spotted in the pile of weapons on the right of the balance changes image on the Day 2 update page.
- An unfinished update page can be found on the teamfortress website. Most of the patch notes remain the same, but some are missing from the final update page or were not present on this early version:
- The Shortstop had its damage ramp-up increased to 175% to match the other Scout primary weapons.
- The Fan O'War is missing entirely from the early update page.
- The Air Strike is missing its blast damage reduction patch note.
- The Scorch Shot has 2 extra changes: Hitting a burning target invokes extra damage to them, and a -50% self-damage force penalty (later added in the July 6, 2015 Patch as -35%). The change about increased knockback on burning targets is also missing.
- The Vaccinator mentions selecting the correct damage type to resist granting extra ÜberCharge based on the damage, as well as restoring health to the Medic. This patch note was later also (erroneously) added in the Tough Break Update and removed shortly after.
- The Bazaar Bargain incorrectly mentions 7 kills being required to reach 200% charge rate, rather than 6 kills.
- The Tomislav is missing the spin up bonus patch note.
- The Dalokohs Bar had a 15 second cooldown instead of the 10 second cooldown in the final update page.
- According to this update page, the name of the Gun Mettle Update was originally going to be "The Manndate". Leaks of the original
.tga
files of the Gun Mettle Key contain the name "Manndate" as well.[1]
- The folder Miss Pauling can be seen holding is the same folder from Meet the Spy that held the pictures of Scout's mother.
