The Spy on superior technology

The Nanobalaclava is a promotional headwear item for the Spy. It is a black and grey futuristic helmet with team-colored elements.

It was awarded in Genuine quality to players who pre-purchased Deus Ex: Human Revolution on Steam before August 26, 2011.

Update history

August 18, 2011 Patch (Manno-Technology Bundle)

  • The Nanobalaclava was added to the game.

August 24, 2011 [Item schema update]

  • The correct model for the Spy is now being used.[1]

Bugs

  • This hat clips with the Camera Beard, Le Party Phantom, Professor Speks and the Summer Shades.
  • The backpack icon shows the helmet for the Heavy.
  • There is an occasional in-game bug that shows the Spy wearing both the Heavy's helmet and the Spy's at the same time.
  • The hat's LODs are out of order, making the hat have less detail at medium range than at long range.
  • While equipped, the hat disappears upon death.

Unused content

  • There are separate model files for each class, implying this hat was originally intended to be wearable by all classes.
  • The Nanobalaclava has coding in its texture that allows it to be paintable, but remains unused.
