The Bat does less damage per hit than any other melee weapon, but swings considerably faster (roughly 30-40%). It does one-third of the [[Scattergun]]'s damage at point blank range, so players may use the weapon to finish an opponent when out of ammunition, while reloading, or simply for additional humiliation. Its [[Critical hit]] animation depicts the Scout swinging it backhandedly.

Trivia

  • During the TF2 Beta, a team-colored label was displayed on the Bat. Upon release, the label was changed to green and gray for both teams.
  • The Scout's default Bat is made of aluminum. The first aluminum baseball bat was actually made in the 1970s, at least two years after this game ostensibly takes place.
