— Fancy Vs. Nasty update description

The Back Scratcher is a melee weapon for the Pyro. It appears as a gardening rake with a wooden handle and a green metal head with bloodstains on the teeth. It was released in conjunction with the new Medieval mode during the December 17, 2010 Patch and is in keeping with the theme, being a farmer's implement.

Trivia

  • The Back Scratcher was originally a skin for the Axtinguisher in the fan-made Fancy vs. Nasty Update.
  • The stats for the Back Scratcher were originally given to The Endless Carnage, a Pyro melee weapon from the fan-made Advanced Weaponiser.
  • Although a Medic will heal a Pyro wielding The Back Scratcher more slowly, their ÜberCharge will still increase at the regular rate. This allows a heavily-wounded Pyro to greatly increase a Medic's ÜberCharge meter.
