The Demoman

The Ullapool Caber is a melee weapon for the Demoman. It appears as a World War II-era German Template:W Stielhandgranate or potato masher grenade, with the Mann Co. logo stamped on the head.

The explosives contained in the metal "head" of the grenade are extremely unstable, and will explode upon striking against either a solid object (such as a wall, floor, etc) or an enemy, consistently dealing 100 damage to the user (not including fall damage), as well as propelling him upward in the ensuing blast. Once the grenade explodes, the twisted metal shards of the grenade inflict slightly reduced melee damage. Respawning or visiting a Resupply Locker will restore the grenade to working order.

Bugs

  • Hitting an object or enemy will use the glass hit sound effect of the Bottle.
  • The Ullapool Caber currently has a visual bug where it looks detonated while it isn't.

Trivia

The Ullapool Caber after detonation
  • Template:W is a town from the Ross and Cromarty area in the Scottish Highlands. It also happens to be the Demoman's birthplace.
  • A caber is a long wooden pole (usually a section from the trunk of a tree) that is thrown as a feat of strength during the Template:W event of the Scottish Highland Games.
  • Hitting an ally with the Ullapool Caber will not set it off. The Demoman may be in for a nasty surprise if he hits a disguised Spy instead.
  • The description "High-yield Scottish face removal" was taken directly from the promotional artwork that Swizzle created for his entry in the Polycount contest.
