I have new way to kill cowards.
The Heavy while tickling someone

The Holiday Punch is a community-created melee weapon for the Heavy. It is a large pair of team-colored knitted mittens, featuring a decorative snowflake woven into the back.

This weapon has the ability to always deal critical hits when an enemy is hit from behind in an arc similar to that of the backstab. However, the critical hits deliver no damage. Instead, a critical hit will cause the enemy player to burst into laughter, leaving them temporarily defenseless. This effect also applies to normal hits given to players also wearing the Holiday Punch. Critical hits given by crit-boost items like the Kritzkrieg will deal normal critical hits instead of the laugh effect, unless from behind.

Taunting with the Holiday Punch equipped will perform the Showdown taunt.

The Holiday Punch was contributed to the Steam Workshop under the name The Masculine Mittens.

Update history

December 15, 2011 Patch (Australian Christmas 2011)

  • The Holiday Punch was added to the game.

Unused content

  • There is an unused style for the weapon, in the GCF, that makes the weapon share similar designs to the Officer's Ushanka.

Bugs

  • This item clips with the Heavy's arms, especially when taunting.
  • Taunting with The Holiday Punch has clipping issues and the fists can be seen during the taunt.
  • The hit sound during the draw animation will still play despite the gloves not coming in contact with each other. This is due to the weapon sharing the same draw animation as the Killing Gloves of Boxing.
  • Sometimes crits will register for damage instead of laughing.
