Which of you numbnuts let us down?
The Soldier wondering who to discipline

The Disciplinary Action is a community-created melee weapon for the Soldier. It is a riding crop with a wooden handle and a loose leather loop at the end.

Despite not being listed in the description, this weapon has a 70% longer range than most melee weapons, slightly more so than the Eyelander. However, it causes 25% less damage to enemies.

The main benefit of the Disciplinary Action is that teammates struck with this weapon receive a speed boost for 2 seconds, while the user receives a speed boost for 3 seconds; the boost amount varies by the class affected (see below). The boost is indicated by a wind breeze particle effect surrounding the affected class, visible both to them and any other players. Multiple teammates can be boosted at once. Disguised Spies are damaged by the weapon, but are also boosted.

Bugs

  • The extra melee bounds allows the user to hit enemies and teammates completely behind them from point-blank range.
  • Sometimes, the weapon appears to hit a teammate and makes the correct sound, but does not register the speed boost and vice versa.
    • This is due to teammates not being lag compensated in the way the opposing team is; the user typically needs to aim in front of where the teammates appear to be moving.
    • This also means the user can appear to hit allies that are seemingly out of range, but moving towards to the user.

Trivia

  • Disciplinary action is a doctrine used by militaries or other hierarchical organizations to punish whoever they regard as breaking the rules.
